Today’s the day! Or, it was supposed to be until new Pokémon from Sun & Moon were leaked and then officially revealed yesterday. Even so, we’re still expecting a modicum of new Pokémon information in addition to an English trailer! The Japanese and Western trailers have all differed so far, so we may just see something we didn’t see last night! The official English site contains new details about last night’s Pokémon!
We now have the official English trailer and some new updates:
- Charjabug has a new ability, Battery: “Charjabug has the Battery Ability, an Ability not seen before in any other Pokémon. The Battery Ability allows it to raise the power of allies’ special moves.”
- Vikavolt has the ability Levitate
- Tapu Koko has the ability Electric Surge which creates Electric Terrain when it enters battle. It also knows the brand-new attack Nature’s Madness which decreases opponent’s HP by half. It’s closed form is teased to be used at certain special times… It is also the guardian of Melemele Island
- Bruxish is the Gnash Teeth Pokémon and has the abilities Dazzling and Strong Jaw. The former is a new ability which prevents opponents from using priority moves that strike first (appears to block only offensive moves from description)
- Cutiefly is the Bee Fly Pokémon and has the abilities Honey Gather and Shield Dust
- Drampa is the Placid Pokémon and sports the abilities Beserk and Sap Sipper. It’s Sp. Attack will increase by 1 if its HP drops below half for the former ability, a new addition to the game
- Komala is the Drowsing Pokémon and has the ability Comatose which keeps it asleep and safe from other status conditions
- Rockruff is the Puppy Pokémon and has abilities Keen Eye and Vital Spirit
- Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon (omg, how adorable) and has the abilities Iron Barbs and Lightning Rod
- We also have confirmation that Zubat will appear in the wild!
While we’re waiting, enjoy chatting in the comments or in our live chat room!

ps- Swadloon has been very lonely, have you visited our forums lately?
Kukui has a Rockruff. Not much else came from Pokenchi though…..Still Rockruff!! lol
That sounds awesome! 😀 Are there pictures of it or was it just talked about?
4chan delivers again!

<3 <3 <3 <3
Rockruff's like 'Yeah, I'm gonna dominate this video chat, screw you es my chat now'
Actually that brings up something interesting regarding the whole mystery around Rockruff. If Kukui has one, and each starter is given to a main character (Player/Hau/Lillie?), then that would make a nice quartet of important people! 😀
ooops we did it at the same time.
I know, it’s kind of funny 😛

Saw this on /vp/. Those sneaky developers, I swear…

GF – huehuehue….we’re gonna hint at Vikavolt unintentionally, and no one will know…fufufufufu

Rockruff in-game looks so amazing <3
And what I could hear of its cry is so adorable! 😀
I was hoping for a Grrrrrruffruffruffaruff sound
They’re really amping up the models this time around
Gonna be hard to resist having this one on my team. I’m not even a dog person.
oooooooooooooooooooo so CUTE
Those people can’t even pretend to be normal
For you artists out there, here’s an opportunity! Design a Nintendo t-shirt and win a signed NX – plus a whole lot of money! I’m thinking about giving it a go, although I’ll need to polish my drawing skills first.

Unless the judges like stick people I won’t win this.
Alright, translating from the video Earthen posted! 😀 But right from when he send Rockruff since I can’t get the lines from before the scene plays, it’s too far away for me to see properly (best translations that I can get just a starting step until someone really translates it) Obviously, it’s the Professor speech, but I wanna see what he says for fun
When Rockruff is facing you : ‘Tall grass, caves, the sky, the sea…they are found everywhere!’
Rockruff’s tail : Something like ‘We can use the power of Pokemon to help each other,’
When Rockruff is facing Kukui : ‘Or to fight other Pokemon as Pokemon Trainers!’
When Kukui faces Rockruff : This sentence was hard to translate for me, but it had the words play and something about Iwanko having an important story? Definitely need another person to check that for me xD
Being found in the sky may indicate soaring will return. After all, you can explore all the other places in the sentence.
One can hope!!
its deff the professors speech, the generic start up and showing of a pokemon before you choose your gender to me, like they always talk about the world being inhabited by pokemon and how they help us or we can battle with them
I know, but I still wanted to see what was up anyways :3 It helps me retain my Japanese over the summer before classes start again.
Plus, like I said, the last part, he talks about Iwanko having an important story to play and asks a question, although my best guess is that ‘will you discover it?’ or something
He’s saying ” Rockruff, this is an important conversation. Could playing wait a bit?”
The funny thing is that I didn’t learn Japanese at all but thanks to Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and loooots of anime, I understand quite a bit and can also read everything (except for kanji ofc). I hope I could help. 😀
Four base elements of alchemy:
Earth – Rockruff – Rock
Water – Popplio
Grass – Rowlet
Fire – Litten
Three primes:
Sulfur – Litten = soul
Mercury – Popplio = spirit
Salt – Rowlet = matter or body
Why was 7 so important? Maybe gen 7? Or maybe that alchemy has 7 planetary metals:
Gold – sun
Silver – moon
Copper – Venus
Iron – Mars
Tin – Jupiter
Mercury…well Mercury lol
Lead – Saturn
Notice something? Idk lol
So the next batch of news is doubtless gonna come from Corocoro (if they actually show anything new this time round)… But Junichi Masuda is doing a Pokémon Masterclass thingy at the Japan Expo in Paris next Thursday… And it’s possible he’ll reveal something then! Last time he was at the Japan expo he revealed Honedge, though obviously with Kalos being based on France there was more of a reason back then.
It might turn out to be nothing, but we may well get something next Thursday then!!
I’m lucky enough to be going to the expo, and I should get into the masterclass (it’s the whole reason I’m going anyhoo, well, that and the shiny legendaries 😉 , not really into all that anime stuff like my weaboo brother is). Fingers crossed there’ll be a reveal, I’d love to be there when sh*ts actually going down for once! 😀
I totally forgot about that! I’d love if we were given a new Pokemon reveal just for the heck of it. They still have lots down the pipeline over the next few months. We’ll definitely get some new Pokemon in CoroCoro though, and likely an early August news explosion!
EARTHEN BORED
Explorers of sky officially died down since the whole Manaphy quest is stupid long, I just want to evolve into Infernape
Which name is better in ur language Awkoala or Bulkoala (or none of them)? which one is cooler in english?
Bulkoala. And what’s your language?
u will know someday.
I feel like Komala is the best name
I meant the name of his evolution.
Unrelated, but I finally got around to drawing myself an icon!
Nice. It always feels great to finish something that you’ve wanted to finish. Speaking of which. I should go finish some cheesecake that’s in my fridge.
Do it! What kind is it? Cheese cake is the best
Chocolate Raspberry. It tasted great.
I just ate cheesecake O.o

I love this gif so much.
I quote this everywhere really, it’s just the best quote ever :3
I like ur shading style …background color is awesome though.
did u meant u draw ur self or just an icon avatar?
The background is from Steven Universe but I drew the avatar myself.
I thought u always draw ur avatars. ….wait is that represent u ? r u a girl?
For the most part I draw my own but I just haven’t lately. But yeah, it’s supposed to represent me 😛
At first I mistook the lighter shades of purple as wings. Nevertheless it is better than anything I can draw and I think it perfectly goes with your name StarStorm.
Thank you! I’m really happy with it
Buh Lapis. Lapis is amazing.
I knooow she’s the best
Seriously I love her so much lol but yeah cute new pic great job.
When was riding pokemon confirmed? I didn’t see that Stoutland photo in any video.
The stoutland photo is the middle photo on the top row of images on this article.
My comment was wondering WHERE that image came from. I had seen it before.
Official website.
Was playing Y just now and i met the tourist again. I completely forgot that he mentioned the champion of his region (alola) – “The champion there is something else!” Could “something else” mean as in strength wise, or will the alola champion stray away from the champions we are familiar to?

Gameplay for both Rockruff and Komala (finally)
Hopefully the Japanese site will update and include a bit more instead of just one move for each. Maybe different camera angles and whatnot.
still think those clouds on the little map he shows are covering something secret
Confirmation that Ash will battle Alain in the final and has a 6th pkmn because it’ll be a full 6v6.
He should bring his Quilava and evolve it into Typhlosion or something. There are a lot of Pokémon I’d like to see coming back though. Btw, for some reason, I have a feeling that Team Flare will interrupt the final. I like Alain but Ash-Greninja is just too good to lose against Mega Charizard X. And if there are more story elements after the league (and we know there are) it would be totally pointless for Ash to win against Alain when he’s clearly on Flare’s side and will battle Ash once more for sure. But idk, it might be a stupid assumption. We’ll see.
People were surprised at so many electric types in S/M, but I think thats just on the first island Melemele, which means yellow in Hawaiian. I’m guessing we’ll encounter lots of electrics on 1st island.
