7/1 Pokémon Sun & Moon Update

Today’s the dayOr, it was supposed to be until new Pokémon from Sun & Moon were leaked and then officially revealed yesterday. Even so, we’re still expecting a modicum of new Pokémon information in addition to an English trailer! The Japanese and Western trailers have all differed so far, so we may just see something we didn’t see last night! The official English site contains new details about last night’s Pokémon!

We now have the official English trailer and some new updates:

  • Charjabug has a new ability, Battery“Charjabug has the Battery Ability, an Ability not seen before in any other Pokémon. The Battery Ability allows it to raise the power of allies’ special moves.”
  • Vikavolt has the ability Levitate
  • Tapu Koko has the ability Electric Surge which creates Electric Terrain when it enters battle. It also knows the brand-new attack Nature’s Madness which decreases opponent’s HP by half. It’s closed form is teased to be used at certain special times… It is also the guardian of Melemele Island
  • Bruxish is the Gnash Teeth Pokémon and has the abilities Dazzling and Strong Jaw. The former is a new ability which prevents opponents from using priority moves that strike first (appears to block only offensive moves from description)
  • Cutiefly is the Bee Fly Pokémon and has the abilities Honey Gather and Shield Dust
  • Drampa is the Placid Pokémon and sports the abilities Beserk and Sap Sipper. It’s Sp. Attack will increase by 1 if its HP drops below half for the former ability, a new addition to the game
  • Komala is the Drowsing Pokémon and has the ability Comatose which keeps it asleep and safe from other status conditions
  • Rockruff is the Puppy Pokémon and has abilities Keen Eye and Vital Spirit
  • Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon (omg, how adorable) and has the abilities Iron Barbs and Lightning Rod
  • We also have confirmation that Zubat will appear in the wild!

While we’re waiting, enjoy chatting in the comments or in our live chat room!

  1. Hope for towns and city names and Togedemaro because it’s name is the same in English and Japan a possible name changer

  3. Tapu Koko is a special Pokémon that protects the area where it lives. It’s called the guardian deity of Melemele Island, one of the islands of the Alola region. Although it’s known as a guardian deity, it’s a surprisingly fickle Pokémon, and will not necessarily come to your aid if you need help.

Despite that, this Pokémon has a strong sense of curiosity. If it becomes interested in a person or in other Pokémon, it may come to play or battle with them.

Tapu Koko’s Ability is Electric Surge, an Ability never before seen in a Pokémon. Electric Surge fills the field around the Pokémon’s feet with electricity when it appears, raising the power of any Electric-type moves for Pokémon on the ground and preventing any Pokémon from falling asleep. Tapu Koko can learn a new move called Nature’s Madness, which slams into an opponent and reduces that Pokémon’s HP by half!

  4. Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon that gathers electricity and stores it. The long needle that grows from the back of its head works as a lightning rod to attract electricity. With this reservoir of electrical energy, Togedemaru is able to release powerful Electric-type attacks!

Covering its body is a pattern of fur with strands like needles. That means that Togedamaru can roll itself up, and presto—it’s a ball of prickles!

Some skilled Trainers have developed the strategy of getting other Pokémon to unleash Electric-type attacks on Togedemaru, which absorbs their power to use in a response attack!

On days when lightning strikes, you can sometimes see Togedemaru gather and bristle up their needles, waiting to be struck by lightning.

  5. I know they released the English trailer, but there’s no footage of the CoroCoro mons D: I really wanted to see it

  6. Charjabug stays perfectly still in preparation for Evolution, and often spends time with its body half-buried in the earth. Charjabug is able to store up electricity. It can store enough power to run a household for a whole day. The power it stores can be provided to other Pokémon, so it can also serve as a battery!

Charjabug has the Battery Ability, an Ability not seen before in any other Pokémon. The Battery Ability allows it to raise the power of allies’ special moves.

  7. Vikavolt is like a fortress that zooms through the forest, firing a beam of electricity from its mouth. Its huge jaws control the electricity it blasts out.

Vikavolt is adept at acrobatic flight maneuvers like tailspins and sharp turns. It can fly at high speeds even as it weaves its way through the complicated tangle of branches in the forest.

Vikavolt clasps Charjabug with its legs and uses it as an extra battery. Even if a battle drags on, it can use the electric power from Charjabug to continue firing off powerful moves. When Vikavolt is engaged in a fierce aerial fight, it releases Charjabug to make itself lighter and increase its mobility.

  8. No one has ever seen a Komala awake. It eats, travels, and even battles while sound asleep! Its saliva can be used as medicine for the sick or sleepless, according to ancient people. They say if you take a small amount of the saliva remaining after it eats leaves, water the saliva down, and drink it, you’ll be able to sleep well.

Komala clings to a log pillow that its parents have given to it. Once it has grasped this log, it almost never releases it. If it does lose hold of its log, the Pokémon will be unable to sleep well and will thrash about wildly. Apparently it will sometimes cling to the arm of a Trainer it trusts.

Komala has the Comatose Ability, a new Ability that no other Pokémon has ever had until now. This Ability keeps it perpetually in a drowsing state, which prevents it from getting any other status conditions.

  9. Rockruff has an excellent sense of smell, and once it has smelled an odor, it doesn’t forget it! There are tales of these Pokémon getting separated from their Trainers, then using the faintest traces of their scent to track them for days until they are reunited!

Rockruff is a sociable Pokémon, but as it grows, its disposition gets wilder. If it begins to howl when the sun goes down, that is proof that it’s close to evolving. It’s said that it leaves its Trainer’s side to evolve and returns again when fully evolved.

Rockruff stands bravely in battle, even when it’s taking damage. Although an opponent may be stronger than Rockruff, the Puppy Pokémon is so persistent, it keeps going until it outlasts its foe and gets the win!

Bite is a good move for Rockruff. It deals damage by biting an opponent with its sharp teeth. This may make the target flinch.

  10. Iwanko and Nekkoala are known in English as Rockruff and Komala. Next, Tapu Koko’s ability is called Electric Surge

  12. Bruxish emits a strong psychic power from the protuberance on its head. When its opponents are bathed in this power, they’re stricken with terrible headaches and fall unconscious. As it emits its psychic power, it grinds its teeth loudly. When nearby Pokémon hear the sound of Bruxish’s teeth gnashing, they sense danger and flee immediately.

In the Alola region, lifeguards let Bruxish remain in their area to prevent dangerous Water-type Pokémon from gathering there.

Bruxish digs holes in the seafloor, leaving just the protuberance on its head exposed, while emitting a low level of psychic power. This serves as radar, so when it detects prey, it can leap to the attack!

Bruxish can have the new Ability Dazzling, which no other Pokémon has ever had. The Dazzling Ability prevents opponents from using priority moves that normally strike first.

  13. Cutiefly can detect the auras of living things, including people, Pokémon, and plants. They search out flowers by the color and brightness of their auras and then gather their nectar and pollen.

When living creatures are excited, it seems that their auras resemble those of flowers in full bloom. As a result, these Pokémon tend to gather near people or Pokémon feeling particularly happy or sad.

Cutiefly mostly live in the fields and meadows on the outskirts of cities, but they sometimes appear in towns and even inside buildings, drawn in by the emotions of the living beings of the community.

  14. Drampa are dragons that live alone in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. Since they can’t obtain the Berries they feed on at that range, they descend to the base of the mountains at dawn every day. Drampa love communicating with people and Pokémon.

Drampa are especially gentle with children and often appear at schools and parks where children gather.

While Drampa is usually a very gentle Pokémon, it can fly into a rage if a child it cares for is hurt in some way. The Dragon Breath move that it fires off at such times is powerful enough to blow down buildings!

Drampa can have the Berserk Ability, an Ability that no other Pokémon has ever had. With the Berserk Ability, this Pokémon’s Sp. Atk will go up by 1 when its HP drops below half.

    • I’m more focused on that Stoutland pic.
Seriously, riding Stoutland around makes me wanna scream outside my window.

  15. So Tapu Koko isn’t in the legendary list…..interesting…..I wonder if it’s considered special in general like a mythical or if it’s just a regular Pokemon that’s particularly special to Alola.

    Reply
      • Hmmm you are correct….and neither is Magearna…I suppose it’s just something they’ll reveal when the rest of the guardians are shown off lol

        Reply
    • More leaning on the latter, if that’s the case.
If it was Mythical, it probably would have been stated, like Magearna.

      Reply
    • Well Solgaleo and Lunala are, while Zygarde isn’t
Maybe Tapu Koko isnt a legendary but more a pseudo, nearer the back of the dex (but obviously all the guardians are one time encounters only?)

    • SO IT IS TRUE AHHHHH RIDING STOUTLAND I AM DONE THE NEIGHBORS HAVE TO KNOW OF MY EXCITEMENT OF RIDING A GIANT DOG AROUND

      Reply
      • I love Stoutland! I secretly hope we’ll be able to ride pokemon at any time in the game rather than special areas

        Reply
          • I wish every land pokemon big enough was able to be ridden, every pokemon that can fly and is big enough could be soared on, and every surfing pokemon could be surfed on lol. That would be so cool. I just want to soar on Volcarona

          • I thought of exactly that picture when I typed this! That’s why I had to put “big enough” lol

  16. Zyagrades ability is Power Construct.

10% and 50% change form when HP drops below 50%

Drampa Berserk Ability raises it’s special attack when it’s HP drops below 50%

  17. The picture of the green forest-y area looks so visually stunning and the person riding Stoutland looks interesting. Maybe his helmet is based off a Pokemon (maybe a fossil, who knows?)

  18. One thing i noticed when Drampa used dragon breathe it is angled downwards to match yungoos height. Which is neat and makes the animation better.

  19. Core Enforcer is a move that only Zygarde can learn, and it can erase the Abilities of any opponents that have already used a move on the same turn that it’s used.

  20. One thing that they’re they’re really good at doing is keeping the rest of the 3 islands a secret
They’ve shown off Melemele, and that’s it. I mean if we’re all this psyched about what little they’ve shown, this should be a big game!

Also, Tapu Koko is the “Land spirit Pokemon” – I wonder how that’s gonna tie into the game (what will the other guardians be classified as: sea/sky etc?)

    Reply
  21. So I wonder what that laser beam Pikachu is all about. The blurb next to the pictures says that we’ll “discover moves more powerful than any seen before” I wonder if that means that there is the potential to “create” moves. Like how (anime reference incoming lol) Ash and Dawn were using old moves to create new ones.

  22. I think he is not riding Stoutland, he is riding a vehicle that is drifted by the Stoutland. Notice the steering wheel kind of thing and belt-like thing around Stoutland.

    Reply
    • Yeah, I guess that makes sense
But still, we are guiding it, it is taking me places.
I’m still hyped for it cause I will be intimidating everyone in Alola

      Reply
      • Or this steering wheel can driectly control Stoutland as well, because belt seems like something that is electrical or magical??.

  23. Rockruff’s description says it evolves but Komala’s says “its parents”… This lil baby better evolve e.e

    Reply
    • I do think that Komala will evolve. It’s too…simple to be a one stage (maybe my theory and its description could mean the same thing where it mentions it getting angry when it loses its log?)

      Reply
      • I feel like this is another Pancham situation. We speculated a bigger panda with a bamboo staff but still got something badass looking.
Komala’s evo will hopefully be badass too. It still is a koala tho and those arent big so we might get a Muuna-Musharna situation.

        Reply
    • I think it’ll have two more stages. The third it may finally wake up or something. Maybe it’ll have a special ability where it switches between awake and asleep and it affects its stats.

Rockruff is a great name btw.

      • I have a feeling all of these pokemon are from the first island though. They showed it in a cave, it could be on the first island still.

        Reply
          • Well the caves shown appear to need surf so I think it’s plausible. You’ll just have to come back. Plus it could have a prevo

          • That’s true. I do hope it evolves from something though. No games ever really encourage dragon types except for X&Y (where you could get Axew and Bagon before the second gym) And now that Fairy is such a common counter for them, I hope they give us more dragons early on. No one ever wants to use them on playthroughs because you don’t get them till really late.

          • Only Pysudo Legendary in original game that can be caught even mid way is Goomy and they nerf him by putting him in front of Fairy Gym

    • I have to make two separate ones but:
      -Rowlet
      -Vikavolt

      -Litten
      -Pikipek
      -Cutiefly (Unless the evolution sucks)

Perhaps mix Rockruff and Komala in there somewhere depending on their evolutions

      Reply
      • I preordered both versions, but I’m starting with Sun and I already decided Rowlet will be my first starter. Rockruff I just gotta have because I have an extreme weakness for puppies lol.

        Reply
        • It’s so cute but I typically don’t have Rock types tbh. They’re not as useful to me as ground. Maybe it’ll be a dual type though eventually

  27. Interesting side note is that Solgaleo, Lunala and Zygarde are listed as legendary #1, legendary #2 and legendary #3 on the Japanese website of S/M. Does this mean Zygarde also functions as Alola’s 3rd legendary?

    Reply
    • That would make sense. Having a Sun- moon- earth trio. It would truly make Zygarde the order Pokemon, juggling its cells to keep Xearneas, Yveltal, Solgaleo, and Lunaala in check.

  32. After revelation of new information, It’s likely that Tapu Koko is based on Ku. For those who missed it, I wanted to write here also, what other guardians might be based on. Firstly, I wrote why Tapu Koko might be based on Ku, and there is Lillie theory as well:

    Yellow-Electric-Ku:

“Ku is the God of War. In Hawaiian mythology Ku is one of the four great gods. He is worshipped under many names, including Kū-ka-ili-moku (also written Kūkaʻilimoku), the “Seizer of Land”.
Kū appears in various kinolau. His animal forms include a kanaka, ʻio (hawk), ʻīlio (dog), and moa (chicken)”

Also, Ku is represented with following form:

    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2a/Kuka%27ilimoku.jpg/800px-Kuka%27ilimoku.jpg

Tapu Koko is most probably based on Ku. It has similar appearance as above and it has a chicken mask which is an animal form of Ku. Also there is seizer of the land-land spirit connection.
Also in japanese trailers, dialogues show that they offer the Pokemon battle to Tapu Koko, and they battle in the name of Koko, which can be seen as connection to Ku being god of war (also sacrificies are made in order to offer for Ku).

    Blue-Water-Kanaloa:

“Kanaloa is one of the four major akua (gods) of traditional Hawaiian religion. He is associated with the ocean, long distance voyaging, and healing. Kanaloa is lord of the ocean. In fact, the ocean itself is thought to be one of Kanaloa’s bodies. It’s appropriate that he has many sea creatures, such as in the octopus and squid, as his kinolau (body forms). Other ocean-related kinolau of Kanaloa are the naiʻa (dolphin) and the koholā, or whale.”

    Green-Grass-Lono:

“Lono is the Hawaiian god of agriculture and rain. He appears in hoʻoilo (the wet season) as rain clouds and winter storms. Some poʻe kahiko (Hawaiians of old) describe Lono as the “akua poʻo huna i ke ao lewa,” or the god whose head is hidden in the dark clouds. The water he brings, especially to the dry, leeward regions, helps keep the land fertile.

Legend has it that Lono is responsible for bringing cultivated plants to Hawaiʻi. This solidifies his important role in agriculture. Lono also is associated with the makahiki celebration. Makahiki is a time of peace and recreation. It’s a time to celebrate the hard work of farming and enjoy the fruits of one’s labor.

Many different plants and animals are said to be forms of Lono.
Lono’s kinolau include sweet potato, gourd plant, candlenut tree, fern, tree fern, banana. Kamapuaʻa is another kinolau of Lono. So is the puaʻa hiwa, an all-black pig. The dark rain clouds sitting on top of a mountain are sometimes called ke ao puaʻa, or pig clouds.”

    Red-Fire-Pele:

“Probably the best known of all Hawaiian gods and goddesses is Pele. She is the fire and the heat, the smoke and the steam, the goddess of the volcano. It is Pele that sparks the eruptions and adds new land to our island home. Pele is the volcano and the natural forces associated with volcanic eruption.

Pele’s physical forms include lava, fire, and other natural forces. She can appear as a beautiful young woman or an old lady. She may also appear as a ball of fire on the mountain. She may come in dreams where she appears in the form of a woman in the prime of life, dressed in white.

Pele is said to have come from the faraway lands of Kahiki, along with some of her family. She made stops on all of the Hawaiian Islands, but only Hawaiʻi Island proved to be a suitable home. So it is there at Halemaʻumaʻu, in Kīlauea Caldera, that Pele resides. Because of this, Pele is known as “ka wahine o ka lua,” the woman of the crater.

One of the epithets of Pele is sharp-lipped goddess.”

Also it was speculated that Lillie’s mystery could have something to do with Pele, since Pele appears in forms of white dressed young woman. Lillie does not like to see Pokemon battling and there is a possibility that she is not a trainer. Pele is known to test human beings with tricking them in human form. Maybe, Lillie is testing the protagonist throughout the journey. It is reaching but description of Pele says “she devours forests” while description of Lillie says “she has devoured many books.”

  33. There are only three months left before November. I was thinking that since specifically in this trailer Melemele island was introduced and Tapu Koko was shown, maybe in each of the three months the remaining three islands and their guardians will be revealed??

    Reply
    • I think it’d be best for mystery’s sake to keep the other guardians a secret. I just want to know all of the regions pokemon and maybe some more mechanics. They can keep locations secret. Show me the first gym leader and evil team designs and I’m good too

    • I don’t think they’ll reveal the actual guardians seeing as they will probably be major plot spoilers.
I think maybe alluding to them via text and then reveal start evos, a few more Pokemon, 2 or 3 characters then that’s it

    • I think they might start showing Megas, Synchros, whatever they are doing this generation starting next month. It kind of lines up with the reveal scheme for X and Y if I am recalling correctly.

  34. If for whatever reason, only the currently revealed Pokemon were in the game, who would you guys have on your teams?

Personally, I’d have Litten, Cutiefly, Rockruff, Bruxish, Drampa, and Pikipek.

  35. So. I was thinking about the simplistic name of Rockruff, and then thought what would the evolutions be called. If they stay with the same scene, maybe Boulderbark would work for one of them.

  36. Zygarde having more than 2 cells possibly is quite interesting though it is completely stupid how Zygarde is just being spliced into Alola even though he is a Kalos Pokemon. Him having cells there for no reason is dumb. And I’m happy they finally even if unceremoniously revealed Komala and Rockruff instead of acting like they were mythical unicorns.

I smell a Feebas/Milotic and Magikarp/Gyarados situation where Bruxish’s evolution is a beauty but loses its Dazzling ability. Thus, for those who want Bruxish for its ability can keep it from evolving and those who want just its evolution for its beauty and better stats can evolve Bruxish. Win/win situation.

    • Idk….I don’t think Bruxish will evolve. If anything I think something would evolve into it rather than it being the base Pokemon. Either way I don’t think it’ll be more than a one stage Pokemon. It has the same feel as Alomomola. That said people thought Alomomola would be luvdisc’s evolution so….idk lol

But when you look at the pokemon through the party you will see each pokemon has 3 animations and one is like never used. So limiting it to Kalos isn’t a good way to keep order

          Reply
          • Lol 6.5 isnt that hard of a concept to grasp its simply a placeholder than saying “alola with kalos post game story” every time. No idea why it triggers so many people. Just think of how we said the next game was “Z” even though we all knew it was not going to be called Pokemon Z it was just a placeholder.

          • If Alola is a post-Kalos story, they wouldnt add new starters and 100+ pokemon lmao. Like I said, might be connected like Johto and Kanto.

          • Holy crap it is impossible to explain this to you guys. Maybe thats why it triggers so many. Never did i say it did that, right? I said it was a placeholder. Nothing more nothing less. Is it really that hard to understand. Stop overthinking it.xD.
Here let me try something simple if you cant understand this then i give up:
Gen 6.5= Alola with Kalos post game. NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.

          • I think I understand what you’re both getting at so I’m going to interrupt and stop the arguing if I may.

MenacingCascoon, you’re saying that 6.5 is just a name. It’s nothing official like “Gen 1” or “Gen 4”.

Galemcaedus, you’re explaining that the name just doesn’t make sense because Alola = Johto. You’re saying that if Gold/Silver were called Gen 1.5, it would just be ridiculous.

This argument really isn’t even an argument. You’re both just reiterating what is essentially the same point, viewed from different angles.

          • Yea definitely not an arguement, but im glad someone understands what i mean by 6.5 thank you

          • To be fair, I’m rather intoxicated right now, because I’m having a laugh at the expense of Belgium (football related, not important lol)

          • The “cringe-worthy design” is subjective though. I actually love it, but I may be a bit biased with my love for marine life.

          • i mean i like the dorkyness of it but i can see people not liking it. And have you seen the fish is based off? is so beautiful ! i truly enjoy seen marine animals

    • And? Gardevoir and Lopunny can be male as well and those are ACTUALLY sexualized. We then have the likes of Bruxish who is not sexualized at all. Is there some law preventing males from being colorful, have full lips, and look girlish? -_-

      Reply
        • I don’t see the sexual side of Gardevoir. When it’s skirt thing lifts up, it actually looks like a cape more so than a dress. It’s just the Internet that has run with the scheme and over-sexualized the Pokemon.

          Reply
          • Ok.. I have No idea what’s wrong with you all’s eyes if that doesn’t looks like a female in a skirt. That’s what it was designed after.

          • Agreed. And the Mega even dons a wedding dress. (Not to say a guy can’t wear a wedding dress if he so wishes, but still)

          • Of course I know it was designed to be a skirt. That’s why I say, “It actually looks…” instead of saying, “It’s a cape.”

          • Considering it’s Japanese name is Sirknight and is based on a principal dancer, which can be both male and female, I think otherwise 😉

  76. Ok so I got a theory that I posted on MunchingOrange’s video but I thought I’d post it here for opinions and conversation sake, so here goes: I have a small theory that we will have only 3 Guardians on the inhabited islands (Melemel Island and the other 2 that seem to have towns and cities, not the man made one), and the last island’s (The one with all those mountains and forests) guardian is the box legendary (Think the Lake Trio of Sinnoh to Dialga and Palkia in Diamond and Pearl). Also another theory is that MAYBE the island guardian trio (I Think) will all be like Beast and Bird Trios where the types are matched to counter the starter types (ie Electricc, Fire, and Water/Ice) while still being Fairy, and that Tako Koko will be our roaming one while the other 2 will be stationary similar to how Mespirit whom we meet a bit early on in DPP (voice though) is roaming while Azelf and Uxie are stationary in the trio. Thoughts?

    • It’s interesting, but I’m still leaning on the 4 guardian theory myself.
There used to be people on that island with that tree, so it makes sense there would be a guardian there as well.

As for now my team is RN for Sun: Pikachu (Staple as its uniquely my personal favorite), Rowlet, Litten, and Rockruff.

          • Idk if they can even be called rivals anymore gamefreak might just aswell start calling them friends or something from now on

But the first picture of the character in a cave, what is that feature? I look in the cave, camera movement on the New 3DS? What is it, I don’t see any feature XD

          • Feh i just want something I can get excited for
But it’s just everything I hate and everyone getting what they want

          • Hate is a strong word, do you really hate a lot of the changes and improvements GF is making to the pokemon games? because a lot of the changes and such are not forced on people, just added, but not necessary

          • cant hate people dude, even if you don’t agree with them or how they choose to live their lives, you cant change them, and getting angry is only hurting yourself, they are not hurting anyone so don’t let others opinions bother you, just breathe and let it go, may I suggest some form of meditation or yoga, something to calm your mind and let you know that it doesn’t matter, it’s worked a ton for me and now most of the things that got me angry in the past don’t phase me, and I am so much happier

          • How could I let it go, people are stupid or just plain annoying
To let it go is to let them win, and Earthen ain’t keen on losing ANYTHINg

          • no its not letting them win… its like forgiveness… forgiveness is not for the other person, its for you, keeping things bottled up and having animosity towards someone or something is both bad for your health and mental state, and when you forgive someone you are moving on, until you do, they have control over you and your emotions, so you’re not really “winning” anything, you’re losing. You have to let it go and show that you can be a bigger person, you do it for yourself Earthen

          • Yeah no, call what it want but you know deep down there’s always a winner or loser, and I’m sick of

          • Or there are two winners and no losers hooray
not everything is a game where it’s decided with a winner and a loser

          • No. Not everything has a winner and a loser. Why can’t two people both get what they want? Ever heard of a “win-win”?

          • Not once ever, they’re not going to stop and try to settle the score nicely, like everyone they want to be right and win and the other guy to be wrong and lose

          • Oh look it’s mr. mind reader
All your ideas are sh*t. How does that feel? they don’t make sense. They’re broken. They’re badly designed. You didn’t think them through.

          • you can only speak for yourself, not everyone has this same mindset as you earthen

          • Hey Earthen, you don’t have to be such a jerk to be right… I think that’s all everyone is saying, over and over…

          • sick of…. what? sick of “it”? ok earthen, if thats really what you think go right ahead, clearly there is no getting through to you and you have already made up your mind, I feel like a broken record already having to say this to another Pokejungler who always thought they had all the answers and were always right, but if you adopt that mentality, that there is this constant battle and adopt a competitive attitude towards things that honestly don’t matter, I think you’ll find people will stop wanting to talk to you all together and you’ll get very lonely, and once again unhappy from not being able to let things go. You can disagree with people’s opinions but in no way do you have to shoot them down or be rude about it.

          • Are you the only person allowed to speculate here or something? Seriously I see your speculation all the damn time mate, and who’s to say I don’t think it’s an awful idea, or it doesn’t make sense or if it’s too broken?

          • Yes all your fakemon, all your speculative abilities are truly the epitome of creativity and cannot be beaten

  79. On the topic of new features, what would you guys like to see that has never been done before?
~ Fusion Moves or leveled moves where certain moves can be fused with others or moves can be leveled up or maybe both.
~ Exploring UNCHARTED areas where you have to chart a map of the area, the Pokemon, and earn rewards based on how much you complete.
~ Post-game content where you help around the region as a champion and actually do champion stuff… Like, nobody even acknowledges you’re the champion even after you’ve beaten the champion 100,000,000 times. Thus, something similar to how you just go around and help people in YoKai Watch would be neat.

    • I’d like the game the be less linear and more open. Like you can choose what gyms to go to, and that there are more then 8 of them so you can find one and challenge them till you get 8 badges in any order, as well as them have dynamic levels to match the badge count you got. But I feel that maybe too complicated. Ah, what other RPG’s have done to me XD

      Reply
      • The thing is, other RPG’s don’t have the gyms and the need for a linear progression barring them. Other RPG’s are more open and are actually role-playing instead of Pokemon where’s it’s half RPG and a soupy mix of everything else.

There’s a bit of non-linearity in Gen 2 as well, but it got people lost and underleveled, so I think that stopped them from doing it again for the sake of the kids.

I would enjoy some non-linearity in gym order as well. Gives a bit of excitement to routing a speedrun. Maybe this is the best time to do it. We can pick the island we want and the untouched encounters/gyms will get tougher afterwards. (I still have a theory of 2 gyms per island.)

  84. I just realized Bug Fairy are new combinations. Huzzah for fairies getting some types. Hopefully we get some ice fairy ghost fairy and fire fairy. Maybe fairies will surpase ghost in amount of pokemon per type. Hopefully, i want use a fairy this region so im getting some high hopes.
FairyE4 plz with cutiefly evolution. Cutiefly is absolutely adorable i hope it does evolve. And gets moves like bug buzz and moonblast. Just inagine evolved cutiefly quiver dance bug buzz moon blast and roost
Tapu KoKo doesnt even look like a fairy but hey im not complaining it looks super cool and finally gets to use those exetremely irrelevant terrain moves. Definitely a cool fairy type. Too bad its a legendary, but hopefully it can be caught early like before elite 4.
Fairies raising high back on my list of favorite types. Maybe i can return to my fairy usage and sweep teams with slurpufff and mega mawile again!

    • I used grassy terrain a lot in Battle Maison… <3

Well anyway, it's currently expected all the guardians will be fairies and the others will be ice (water?), fire and grass. So you'll probably have your fill.

    • I might as well give my input on most the pokemon today
Cutiefly 6/10- cute hope for evolution, horrible name imo
TapuKoko 8/10- Love it!!! Cant wait to see it in the story
Bruxish 8/10- i think its very amazing looking but scared it may turn to the useless basculin/luvdisc. And its ability is amazing It defeats mega kanga. Horrid name
Charjabug 7/10- definitely best mid stage bug since me! And its half electric? Definitely spot in my heart. Very interesting ability…
Vikavolt- 9.5/10- i Love this thing definitely gonna use this on my journey. Its so good looking and has levitate and immunities are always a plus. I kinda wish it had compoundeyes. So i can usr thunder and zap cannon but oh well. Its still amazing.
Drampa 7/10- call me a hipster but i really like this thing. Its just cool looking and has a nice ability. Though it doesnt seem like the type to throw a frenzy. Unique typing +1
Komala 4/10- probably my least favorite of the bunch it has a unique ability but it just doesnt interest me.
Rockruff 6/10 i like its a rock type dog but other than that meh. Its kinda cute, bad name though
Togedemaru 5/10- also not very interesting to me sorry but after dedenne nothing can beat that.
But overall this definitely got me more hyped for sun and moon

      • At this point I have no hopes of news from corocoro this month being they made no promises of exclusive news like they did when they gave us Rockruff and Komala. I might be wrong tho

        • I think back then, they said something like they will cover exclusive news from then on.
But I dunno *shrugs* Still a closer deadline to reach than August whenever 🙂

          Reply
    • Well technically we have whatever they are going to show on Pokenchi. From that image that someone edited out of the trailer it doesn’t seem like a Pokemon or anything, but it could be something different. What if they elaborate on the riding Pokemon picture we got today? That’d be cool right? lol

      Reply
      • On pokenchi they usually show off new Pokemon with their art on small cardstock papers like that so, it will probobly just be that. I think if pokenchi brings any new information it will probobly be minute, given in their track record with stuff like this. :/

        Reply
        • Well they were being shown something on a piece of paper on Masuda’s desk so maybe it’ll be something cool. From what I saw it didn’t look like a Pokemon per say, but it was too blurry to really have a good look at it.

          Reply
          • Oh you mean the thing that didn’t have a question mark over it? It looked like the machine that nurse joy uses to heal your Pokemon or something similar to me but I guess it could be something of interest… If it was real news don’t you think they would have covered it up tho?

          • They do cover it up. The person that screen shot that pic just edited so close to the frame that it was before the question mark appeared.

          • Oh I guess I did see that, that was what I was talking about when I said the thing not covered up by a question mark.

          • You know what…..? I think that image was faked……I just ran the same footage through Premiere and in every frame the ? was there. Esspecially at the part of the trialer they seem to have gotten the pic from. I didn’t feel it necessary to check it out, but got curious with our conversation. I could be wrong and they got the image through other means, but this pic my very well be faked…….I guess we’ll find out tomorrow though lol

          • Yeah, wow…. I guess I’ll be watching pokenchi tomorrow after all, just in case ‘:o

          • Also the time stamp doesn’t make any sense….how do they get 32 minutes from a trailer that is 30 seconds long…..? I feel like a fool for not thinking about this kind of stuff as someone who actively edits videos lol

          • It looks like a scooter to me, so maybe instead of getting a bicycle in this game, we get a scooter. 😀 I’d be down for that.

      • I honestly would have rather them reveil less new Pokemon and more details on game mechanics and story honestly and they really have kept details on those under wraps! We still don’t know for sure if there are actually gym leaders, a rival with the stronger starter or an evil team!

        Reply
        • Well of course there are going to be gym leaders, a rival, and an evil team……I mean come on now lol Hau is a person after all hahaha

Ok every game since RS I’ve always use the same team build of water, fire, grass, electric, flying, and a scapegoat(mostly a normal type so I can teach it HMs) but in Sun/Moon Rowlet takes up two in one so my team right now consist of Rowlet (grass/flying) and Gubbin (electric/bug) but now I’m wondering what type I should add on like physic, fairy, rock? I like dual types too but not the same type as another Pokemon on the team.

    Reply
    • I’m kinda the same as you. New games = all three starters, usually the regional bird, elec and then somin powerful (such as a dragon), and I love using dual types (why stick to 6 types when you can have 12?) and never use duplicate typing (or even duplicate moves for that matter)

I mean gotta stick to the 3 starter tradition but Vikavolt and Rockruff are two contenders right now for a place on the team.

I’d say start really building your team when we get Gym/E4 info and possibly even moveset info. Make’s like easier that way

      Reply
      • You make good points but sometimes I like a challenge and I like the dual types but like I said up top I catch Pokemon from the begging of games and once I catch one and use it I grow attach to it and it’s hard to switch it for another and sometimes it hard to find dual types in the begging

        Reply
        • Well I don’t always like to fill my team up right from the beginning. I mean it makes things harder when you know you can only get you 4th Pokemon after the 3rd gym for example, as you have to rely on your Poke knowledge and skill to make it far with fewer Pokemon

          Reply
          • I know I’m not gonna fill up my team right away cause they always have same types around the same area but you know in xy you could pikachu right off the bat but I wanted dedenne but then I saw how long it took to get and it felt for me it wasn’t worth the wait so when I replayed it I just stuck with pikachu

    • My teams ALWAYS had a Fighting, Rock or Ground as my first (Major) capture
      Mankey NidoranM
      Wooper Panpy
Makuhita Aron (bit of a stretch)
Sinnoh didn’t do that I had to wait for a Skull Fossil
      Drilbur
      Bunnelby
      Hopefully Rockruff

      Reply
      • Yeah on RBY I used NidoranM but the rest of the games it was hard to find a rock ground or other types and I forgot to mention I mostly use the Pokemon I catch from when the begging of games one because I always over level them so it’s hard to catch later in game one cause my are alway high levels and two once I catch one and use it I grow attach to it and it’s hard to switch it for another lol

And this spry youngest aka us peaks the curiosity of Tapu Koko and occasionally sees us battle and eventually at his shine he “judges” us to see if we’re worthy

It was around then that I started watching the DP anime in japanese, and when the subtitling group dropped the project after 10 episodes, I resolved to learn Japanese so I could finally watch it, a year later and after watching many anime, I finally learnt enough to watch anime raw and get most of it. The DP anime was all the more amazing when I finally got to understand it myself. I’ll always love it.

Sinnoh, You may have felt slow and had way too few fire Pokemon, but in my eyes, you sped along at the speed of light, I’ll always love it.

          • Hahaha I can see why that would happen. I’d like to change my icon too but it just makes it easier, because an icon is so much more recognizable than a name. So I guess I’ll just keep it the way it is. And besides, there aren’t that many fans of Haxorus out there, so cool artwork of Haxorus is scarce 🙁

          • I love Haxorus its dope af, haha, which reminds me, I have a shiny one and a shiny fraxure that I need to train

          • I know right it’s amazing. I have some shinies too and they are the best. I’m glad they didn’t fuck up its shiny form, especially Fraxure’s! Hope Haxorus will get a mega soon so he can get some love. Omg I just thought of something. You know the Battle Royale arena and the four Pokémon: Charizard, Gyarados, Tyranitar and Haxorus. Well, 3 of them have megas. 1 of them hasn’t…

          • What would make it even better is a Dragon/Steel-typing (and to give it some more Steel type moves haha)

          • steel type would make a great second typing for it, probably the most appropriate typing, I also seen a dark purple on with like these barbs on it that became dragon/poison, it was pretty unique

          • yeah no theres like a -50% chance of poison happening I just thought it was cool 😛

        • It was just such a grind to get through. A long slow game is fine as long as it feels like you’re doing something. That something shouldn’t feel like a chore lol

          • I get that. But think of the Pokémon added, the awesome characters like Cynthia and Barry, the places like Jubilife and Snowpoint, all in fast 3D!

          • I do like the Pokemon and characters. They are pretty great. I think in terms of the Pokemon the only thing I would change is the lack of fire types…..they were very scarce…..lol

          • God I remember that. It was awful. Back then I didn’t like Infernape or Rapidash, luckily I do now so if they keep that I can still use fire types. But I guess they will change the national dex (and with that add some fire types), since there are a lot of new Pokémon.

      • you’re not the only one, love the pokemon, the game, not so much, and I just finished it this year, that being said a remake could still be good

        • And even then we know nothing about it. We don’t know the names, we haven’t got a trailer, or anything like that at all.

I just have no idea how you can be hyped for something that again, doesn’t even exist yet, let alone more than these brand new pokemon games with a new region and everything.

And it’s totally possible we aren’t getting them for a few years, you can still play the original games on the 3DS because of backwards compatibility. It’d make more sense to put them on the next handheld (Which hasn’t even been announced yet) so it allows you to play it on whatever is after that.

  94. I wish they had a blind option for wifi battles. It would only work if both agreed to it. Basically, it’s like in the anime. You don’t know the team of the other person until it’s on the field. I know sometimes they get warnings, which is why it’s optional.
What part of your strategy it takes away.. it adds a new one. Maybe you want to save your sweeper for last.. unless it turns out to be the perfect typing for a Pokemon they send out first!

Alright, translating from the video Earthen posted! 😀 But right from when he send Rockruff since I can’t get the lines from before the scene plays, it’s too far away for me to see properly (best translations that I can get just a starting step until someone really translates it) Obviously, it’s the Professor speech, but I wanna see what he says for fun
When Rockruff is facing you : ‘Tall grass, caves, the sky, the sea…they are found everywhere!’
Rockruff’s tail : Something like ‘We can use the power of Pokemon to help each other,’
When Rockruff is facing Kukui : ‘Or to fight other Pokemon as Pokemon Trainers!’
When Kukui faces Rockruff : This sentence was hard to translate for me, but it had the words play and something about Iwanko having an important story? Definitely need another person to check that for me xD

    Earth – Rockruff – Rock
    Water – Popplio
    Grass – Rowlet
    Fire – Litten

    Three primes:

    Sulfur – Litten = soul
    Mercury – Popplio = spirit
Salt – Rowlet = matter or body

Why was 7 so important? Maybe gen 7? Or maybe that alchemy has 7 planetary metals:

    Gold – sun
    Silver – moon
    Copper – Venus
    Iron – Mars
    Tin – Jupiter
    Mercury…well Mercury lol
    Lead – Saturn

    Notice something? Idk lol

So the next batch of news is doubtless gonna come from Corocoro (if they actually show anything new this time round)… But Junichi Masuda is doing a Pokémon Masterclass thingy at the Japan Expo in Paris next Thursday… And it’s possible he’ll reveal something then! Last time he was at the Japan expo he revealed Honedge, though obviously with Kalos being based on France there was more of a reason back then.

It might turn out to be nothing, but we may well get something next Thursday then!!

I’m lucky enough to be going to the expo, and I should get into the masterclass (it’s the whole reason I’m going anyhoo, well, that and the shiny legendaries 😉 , not really into all that anime stuff like my weaboo brother is). Btw, for some reason, I have a feeling that Team Flare will interrupt the final. I like Alain but Ash-Greninja is just too good to lose against Mega Charizard X. And if there are more story elements after the league (and we know there are) it would be totally pointless for Ash to win against Alain when he’s clearly on Flare’s side and will battle Ash once more for sure. But idk, it might be a stupid assumption. We’ll see.
