  3. Definitely getting Litten!!!! ALSO FULL MODEL FOR THE OVER WORLD!!!!!! THEY AREN’T CHIBI ANYMORE!!!!!!!

    Reply
      • Same here. They really messed up the Fennekin and chespin lines in the last game. Hopefully they don’t make Litten turn into a bipedal cat for its final evolution

  4. I love the fact that the engine is the same as the cutscenes from XY/ORAS which make it look like a proper 3D Pokemon game now!

  5. I think the legendary Pokemon are just very different form what we’ve seen before. Until we get high res art of them and a better idea of what they’re about I’ll hold my opinoins lol

  6. Ok, so it’s the first multitype starter base form since Bulbasaur.

Boy looks meh, girl looks meh, rival looks interesting. We can see the trainer during battle camera pans… is this a sign we’re getting customization?

We are also not super-deformed in the overworld.

    Reply
      • Well I guess Game Freak have decided, they can make one model instead of two, saving money, so they stopped making super-deformed overworld characters. And this could mean 3D models for ALL trainers, not just important ones (XY’s evil team members, AZ, professor)?

Boy = Team Aqua recruit, Girl = Blaze chicken fan, Rival = Marlon’s son. Bwahaha. <3

  7. I see they’re making a huge focus on “connecting” people from different parts of the world. Could they be foreshadowing other regions being available to visit in-game?

  8. I just realized, that male protagonist, he’s totally dressed like a Team Aqua member (in training)? Maybe Team Aqua have some junior rangers/boy scouts or something. Or he’s a huge fan.

  9. All of those people on 4chan who believed the fake starters were just blown out of the water in one fell swoop. That is what I live for.

  10. Soooo the cat is growing on me. Love how his fur erects when attacking. I really hope they deliver on its evolution. Seems sphinx inspired . 8The water starter is just
    beyond! Love him.

  11. The starters are a bit of a letdown… But yeah, maybe they need to grow on me (us) as usual of course.

But my first pick is the owl for sure!

  12. They revealed the name of Xerneas and Yveltal a few days after the reveal trailer for X and Y. I’m expecting that CoroCoro will have full artwork and names for them.

  13. i have a felling that that strange design of the strarter are only a sign that the evoultions will be very nice

  14. Have to say the Pokemon designs aren’t as good as I hoped, but I can tell we’ll get some quirky mons this gen. Rowlet’s design is slightly boring, and the seal thing kinda looks fan made. The fire ones cool for me though, pretty obvious it’s going to be a tiger. Region does look beautiful, but I hope there’s still going to be some variety in landscape. Protagonists clothing, is no where near as good as it’s been before indicating to me there will be customisation elements. Which is great!

Legendary designs for me are a bit dissapointing, they definitely look different to box legendaries we’ve had in the past. Solgaleos particularly stout. I’d called bat when I saw the logo.

  15. Wow I really love these starters. I think this is the first time I haven’t been able to instantly decide which one was my favourite. I think I might be leaning towards Rowlet though, I mean look at that head turning animation!

The legendaries look interesting, I prefer the moon one I think. Looks weird but in a good way.

    Reply
      • Would be cool. This would be the 4th time where I might just want all 3 starters on my main team haha. Only regions to do this so far were RBY, RSE/ORAS, and DPP. This might be epic and fun!

        Reply
  16. Since I preordered both versions, Rowlet and Litten will be my starters for the first playthrough. Litten’s final evolution gonna be fire/dark, calling it now. Rowlet is just a ball of cuteness, I can’t stop looking at it lol. Popplio is amazingly adorbz, but my 3rd favourite.

The version mascots look fking insane btw, quality stuff again

  17. Region looks like Hoenn in 3D should have looked, so I like that. The Legendaries have some Digimon-esque shading done to them though, not liking it at all.

    Reply
  18. So after seeing all the starters attack pictures on the new site, I’m starting to really love all of them

    Reply
  19. Litten>Fennekin
    Rowlet>Chespin
    Popplio=Froakie

Overall, I think these are one of our better sets of starters design-wise.

  20. Lunaala uses oblivion wing.2. Also look, they’re in some temple or something and when lunaala comes everything is blocked out.

    Reply
  21. Someone pointed out that character customization may return bc in a screen shot the male MC is wearing a white black shirt, and the next he is wearing a white blue shirt. GameXplain get on this NOW BOYS!

  22. I don’t post on here much but I gotta share my 2 cents right now..

I love the starters. All three of them – especially Rowlet 🙂 That 4x Ice weakness is unfortunate, but I suppose lots of Pokémon have that. As for the comments about a them looking “fan made”…maybe that’s just because fans have become really good at emulating what a real Pokémon looks like? So yeah, of course they look “fan made”

Not liking the legendaries a whole lot. The lion looks like a combination of Pyroar and Entei. The moon bat thing is weird…but it might grow on me. I’m not instantly in love with them as I was for Xerneas & Yveltal.

Also, does anybody else notice how small the Alola region looks?? How are they gonna fit 8 gyms/E4 in it? It does look pretty, though. Overall, I can’t wait!

  23. Just like that, we have the information we’ve been waiting for. I’m still not fully processing this since it’s 5:30AM, but this should revitalize things around here. 😀

    Reply
  24. I’m extremely optimistic about the final designs of these starters, MUCH more so than the Kalos starters. Especially Litten.

    Reply
  25. I’m thinking Alola might be linked to Hoenn. Both regions have a tropical vibe and have their own volcano.

Also, did anyone noticed how the rival in the trailer looked a lot like Sawyer from the anime?

    Reply
    • They wouldn’t let us go back to Hoenn though so I’m assuming Alola is located south of Kalos. It looks like the region is small (there will be probably more islands but it does feel small) so they’ll most likely let us explore South Kalos

      Reply
      • I’m not saying we’re going back to Hoenn, but from what I could tell of the footage, the region looks similar to Hoenn. Maybe they were one region back in the days, but the Alola legendary’s seperated the land and created a new region.

        Reply
  26. I love the fact that the legendries have the symbols incorporated too! I think they did a good job and I am starting to like all the starters they are not that bad.

    Reply
    • People just need to give it time the designs will grow on them. In the past 30 minutes the designs have grown on me immensely

  27. “Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers.”
“Its visual abilities are impressive. The darkness of night is no obstacle to Rowlet! It can twist its neck nearly 180° from front to back so it can see directly behind itself. It has a habit of turning its head in battle to face its Trainer and receive instructions.”
I LOVE ROWLET SO FREAKING MUCH. I”M GONNA DIE.

  28. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can’t think of Rowlet’s name origin. I know that it is an owlet, but what is with the “r”?

  29. Popplio’s swimming speed is known to exceed 25 mph. It’s better at moving in the water than on land. Still, when it’s on land, it takes advantage of the elasticity of its balloons to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps.
Popplio can snort out balloons made of water! Watch it spin water balloons into a playful battle strategy!

Both frivolous and hard-working, Popplio can easily get carried away—unleashing enough power in battle to make quite a spectacle! But Popplio’s determined spirit means it can usually be found practicing hard on its balloon skills.

The Water Gun move attacks an opponent by firing a jet of water. Popplio knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner!

    Reply
  30. Serebii says that Rowlet has a new move called “Leafage” that strikes an opponent with leaves. Any thoughts?

    Reply
  31. Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn’t show its emotions on the surface.
Litten can attack with flaming hairballs! Its fur is rich in oils and immensely flammable. Litten grooms itself by licking its fur, and then uses the collected fur as fuel for fireball attacks!

When the time comes for Litten to shed its old fur, it all burns up in a glorious blaze.

The move Ember attacks an opponent by firing a small flame at it. Litten knows this move from the moment it becomes your partner!

  32. I may be stretching it, but I see Rowlet becoming a Tucan in its final form (or it maybe because I’m currently eating Fruit Loops right now}.

    • I’m expecting owl since it can rotate its head 180 degrees but hey Remoraid goes from fish to octopus so who knows

  33. Ugh, why couldn’t they just reveal the names of the legends now!?!?! I’m really curious about those things!

    Reply
      • No, that only applies to Japan. Here in the West we have different names with our language in mind. Ashimari, Nyabby and the other one didn’t carry over for the starters.

        Reply
        • All cover art legends have shared the same name from Japanese to English. Seeing as Solgaleo and Lunaala are easily pronounceable in English, I highly doubt these names will change.

          Reply
          • I’m thinking Luna’ala would work, with the Hawaiian setting and all. I suppose Solgaleo works too.

  34. I just had a thought. When they show the region map it’s very cut off and on top of that the part it shows is the part the trailer shows of the the trainer going to the lab(presumably) That means this region is gonna be huge!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see the entire map!!!

    • Same, people just need time. The same happened when gen 6 final evos were leaked and everyone hated Greninja at first now he is looked at as 1 of the best pokemon design wise

      Reply
      • Greninjas overly ANGILAR design and illogical tounge scarf is one of the worst starters I’ve ever seen design wise

        Reply
        • People still hate Greninja’s design (although the ppl I know) but have tolerated it because of Ash-Greninja lol

          Reply
          • I know some people still hate Greninja’s design but i was trying to say that there will be a shift in popularity as time goes on.

    • When I saw Rowlet, I was like ‘wtf is that thing’ but now that I’ve watched the trailer 1000 times, I like it.
Poppilo still has to grow on me. Don’t like the pink nose, I guess. Litten seems fine.
I hope Poppilo will have an amazing evo. Since gen 1 I’ve chosen the water starter, but gen 6 made me change that (to no starter at all). Hope I can go back to my water starter again.

  35. They’re really giving character to these new Pokemon, huh. I thought the transition to 3D was about as alive as they can make the games feel but nope. It’s a good day being a Pokemon fan haha

  36. Rowlet is adorable!! Either gonna have to choose it or Litten, since I love cats. Popplio is alright. The moon legendary is moth-like, and I like it equally as the lion. Interesting that this is the second region based off parts of the U.S.

    Reply
  37. Another thing I think I love is the quick scene where the trainer picks up the starter! It only shows him picking up Litten, but it’s still very cool how animated they are making the over world models!!

P.S. that part is in the Japanese trailer I think

    Reply
  38. Definitely going to have Popplio as one of my starters. He is so cute and silly looking! I haven’t decided yet what other starter will go to my other character. I’m leaning towards Litten but it’s still open. I’ll have to wait and see…. BUT it does look like I’ll FINALLY get my Fire/Dark starter… What do we think the secondary types will be for these starters? AND I LOVE THE SUN LEGEND SO MUCH!

    Reply
  39. Is it just me or is there a port at the bottom of the region?? Does this mean we could be getting a boat back to Kalos??

I’m not saying that I don’t like the region it just looks waaaaaaaaaaay too small to have 8 gyms and a Pokemon league as well as little towns inbetween???

    Reply
  40. This trailer made me realize that Pokemon is nowhere near running out of ideas. They have an infinite number of possibilities for regions that can draw inspiration. And that makes me really happy for the future.

    Reply
  41. Really like the starters especially Rowlet! They better not screw their evolutions up like they did in X & Y.
But I have to say I really don’t like the legendaries at all, other than that I’m super exited for the games 🙂

    Reply
  42. Wow I am shocked which I guess is somewhat good because it means game freak can still throw me curve balls.

    Ok

So Litten has an AMAZING design. It shall fit right in with all the other fire starters of the past and its evolution which judging from the heavy black coloration will be a dark fire type tiger which is great. I will surely pick this guy my first time around. Not too crazy about the name “Litten” however. I could think of 50 better fire cat names

Popplio, I am surprised at how on the nose a lot of the fan made art for this guy was so tight on the money. I can’t see myself using it because his clownishness Doesnt apeal to me overall, his design is still good and I’m excited to see how on earth they evolve this one. Here’s to praying they don’t fuck it up.

Now Rowlett. Oh boy. I think my biggest problem with this little guy is the lack of green in his coloration. We were just discussing in the last article how it would be extremely unlikely for them to release a grass starter that isn’t green. And I must say seeing the three of them together is quite jarring without standard green, red, blue pallets. This is however something I could get over. I love that it’s part flying right of the bat and I assume it will keep this as it evolves, making me wonder if it’s final stage will be a basic owl/quil. I’m only dissapointed because the fan made predictions for its design were SO MUCH BETTER. It’s a grass owl, they should’ve knocked this one out of the park. However I’m still happy and mostly excited for the final forms for these guys.

Oh and they totally nailed the legends does.

AND NOT TO MENTION THE GAMEPLAY LOOKS FUCKING PHENOMENAL! LITERALLY EVERYTHING LOOKS BEAUTIFUL! ITS HAWAII! IT LOOKS LIKE A VACATION RESORT! THE GRAPHICS! EVERYTHING SO LOVELY!

    Reply
  43. I’ve said this before, but it’s a really weird coincidence. I just happened to go to Paris in 2013 during X/Y hype, and now I’m going to Hawaii in 2016 for Sun/Moon hype. Very peculiar timing all around, but hey, I’m not complaining.

    Reply
      • True, but we never know, the devs behind Hyrule Warrior’s Legends decided to implement that into it too. Let’s see how it goes 😀

  44. I really hope you can cut your characters hair. I’m not feeling the long hair wrapping around his ears very much……I like him as a whole tho!

  45. I can’t believe we got starters, legendaries and the release date all on the same day. And that RELEASE DATE though! Not bad at all. One week earlier than I predicted.

  46. Since no one is talking about the new main theme remix, I want to point out that 1:07 in the US video has the same melody as RSE and ORAS title screen. Probably just preference of the composer, but I thought it was nice.

Also, on the note of main theme, get ready to listen to the new main theme for the next 6th months because they will use it in every reveal video from now on, lol

    Reply
  47. It should be noted that the AU/NZ release date is also November 18 (i.e. not at the same time as the rest of EU as usual) according to Nintendo’s Twitter! 😀 😀 😀

    Reply
  48. That owl looks VERY similar in color scheme to the one leak. I’d say either the leak was beta art, or it’s the middle form. Pretty sure the other two in that leak were a cat and a dolphin/seal thing as well, with the designs once again being different. ♥

    Reply
  49. Hey, someone confirm this for me, but I heard GameFreak is going to E3 this year? Which is odd since Nintendo is only doing Zelda, so how would they show details there?

    Reply
  50. So, whose everyone liking as their starters and why? And what do we think their second types will be? I’m definitely picking Popplio for one version (probably Sun and my female character, Aurora) and then I’m leaning towards Litten for Cosimo (Moon). I think Litten will become a Fire/Dark type and Popplio will become a Water/Fairy (I don’t know why I think Fairy, I just am getting that…). Then I’m not sure Rowlet will change from Grass/Flying

    Reply
    • Definitely getting Litten. I’m very drawn to it and that screen shot of the the player character picking it up makes me smile lol

      Reply
    • The secondary typings are the typings I predicted as well 🙂
I’m picking Litten, I guess, I have never picked the Fire Starter for the first time. I’ve always gone for the Water one right of the bet (with gen 6 being an exception, since I liked no starter at all). We’ll see what they’ll evolve into.

      Reply
      • Litten has potential to be a BEAST, I just hope it doesn’t flop like Delphox… I had such high hopes for the final evolution of Fennekin… I hope Litten turns Fire/Dark, even if it isn’t my FIre bear starter I wanted. And I don’t know why but I’m seeing Water/Fairy for Popplio…

        Reply
        • Litten just has to stay on all fours, then I’m happy.
I think it’s Popplio’s nose that’s pink. I also can’t see any other typing actually.

          Reply
          • I’d hate it if it became Psychic. I think that typing is overrated and I actually never use Psychic types (apart from some exceptions), because I just don’t like the typing.

          • I hope it’s not Psychic and we get something new for the secondary typings of our starters. I don’t want Fighting and I don’t want Psychic

    • Rowlet because I LOVE owls and will probably name it Hedwig. Grass/Flying. Litten because I just like cats, although the eyes are strange. Fire/Ghost to deviate from the Fire/Dark predictions 🙂 Interested to see where they take these two.

      Reply
        • No, Hedwig like Harry Potter’s owl…. 😮 I updated my first post after I forgot to add them in but I’ll guess Grass/Flying, Fire/Ghost (just cause everyone is guessing dark), Water/Ice.

          Reply
          • Oh… Water/Ice would be SWEET! If they turn Fire/Dark and Water/Ice I’d be in heaven. Dark and Ice are my FAVORITE TYPES!

          • Ice and Bug types aren’t appreciated by Gamefreak :/ Fire/Dark would be cool, it’d make it the feline counterpart to Houndoom in a way

          • Hmmm, good point. Either way, I hope they don’t blow it with these guys. Lets see new secondary typings. It’s already like Sun and Moon are different than any other game. I just get that feeling. Different vibe, different layout…

    • Definitely love All of them now but I love Litten the most. I’ll agree that I see Litten becoming a Fire/Dark type but I can also see it becoming Fire/Poison

      Reply
      • Really? Poison? I didn’t get that. What do you think the marking on it’s head represent/stand for? Or are they just markings?

        Reply
          • I don’t know… We will have to wait and see… I just hope it’s a Fire/Dark because I’ve wanted a Fire/Dark FOREVER!

        • I don’t know. They could stand for something or they could just be basic stripes and they gradually spread throughout its entire body becoming a fire tiger in its final form. I really hope they don’t mess this one up! This is the first fire starter I’ve liked at first glance since Torchic

          Reply
    • As Pokemon actively try to surprise with starters typings, there’s no way of knowing. I hope we don’t get dark as we had greninja last gen, pure fire would be good. But no one would say Piplup would end up part steel, for all we know it will be part ground or poison.

I want rowletts type to change just for interest. I don’t see the fairy type being given to popplio. This time I have no clue how it’s going to go.

What about the legends types? Moons has madly grown on me but I wish it had legs and didn’t use a move exactly like oblivion wing.

Now customization makes even more sense than ever. Though I think they won’t show trainers in doubles, triples and rotation, making people want to do singles instead haha.

HEY, maybe this game will have emotes, and trainers get salty too when you KO their mon?

  55. Omg I can’t believe how much we got. Starters, mascots, a look at the characters, the region the professor and the rival!? How cool! I love the legends and Litten is my new favorite fire starter of all time. Popplio looks silly. I hope its evolutions look cooler. Rowlet bugs me, not because of its design but because it doesn’t follow the same pattern as all the previous games. In the previous games, all fire starters are based on the Chinese zodiac. We finally have tiger. All water types have been amphibious. And all grass types have been based on prehistoric animals. Unless Rowlet evolves into some kind of moa bird or something I don’t see it sticking to the pattern. :/

  57. *get a cute professor*

Oh look a possible wedding band.

There isn’t a specific starter that appeals to me right now. I like all of them but they have a Gen 5 feel to em. They also all remind me of Kingdom Hearts dreameaters…

  58. everyone see the region map? It looks incomplete to me… Based off the scale of the buildings in the large “city,” it seems to be super zoomed in, and we’re not seeing many towns to travel too. Also, there are A LOT of roads–not routes–ROADS. I wonder what they are planning on doing with this whole car thing. If the region is based off Hawai’i, I’m assuming we’re only looking at the starting island (which doesn’t seem to be based off the big island, maybe Oahu). There’s a high probability we’re going to have a few others. 🙂

    Reply
    • Yeah based on what we were shown I have a feeling that the map will be huge!!! The way the over world looks and everything I can’t imagine it being small. I hope that there are other a=islands that we can go to.

    • It was pretty pixelated so I’m sure it’s not the whole region. There’s so much they could do with Hawaii’s other islands.

ps:And as usual it’s the starter that makes, by far, the best first impression.

    Reply
      • You’ve got a point… still it’s’ a nice sneaky dark type to be cat. I refuse to believe they gonna mess that up. And we have to consider that they had a scheme to the xy starter (the wizard, the ninja and the knight), so it was more accurate if they were all bipedal. I don’t think that’s the case here (I hope not).

  66. Ah~ This is exciting!
We get to pick different skin types for our trainers which might mean there’s some awesome customization that might happen!

The graphics and such look really nice (finally goodbye grid). The region looks pretty cool. Reminded me a bit of Sinnoh with that volcano which makes sense because Hawaii. And both box art legends look awesome. I am definitely very excited and can’t wait to see more. Looks like no following Pokemon still but eh I didn’t really excited it so whatever. 107. Honestly, after seeing so much brilliant fanart for possible starters and legends, I’ve stopped expecting designs from a small team at Gamefreak to match with what the entire fandom can come up with, and Im gonna look at them objectively, without considering how great they COULD’VE BEEN.

    Rowlet ( My favorite! :’) ) 8/10
He’s the perfect balance between adorable and sentient. Among all starters, we always look in the base form for KAWAAIII with a hint of future potential. In rowlet i can see potential for a giant bulky owl, with massive wings, (considering it has to be able to fly as it’s a grass/flying type confirmed already), or perhaps it’ll slim down and become a sleek and elegant silent night owl thingie. I’m okay with either… stat wise i wish it could be special, but leafage already sounds like a physical move, and they would’nt give it a new move if it were to change it’s predisposition later on. At best i can hope mixed, but looks like it’ll be physical.

    Litten 7.5/10
I love her character, the way her eyes look ominously. Since they describe it as more logical than passionate, I’m assuming the final form will be more passionate, unleashing its inner aggression. It’ll almost definitely be fire/dark and either special or mixed in predisposition. I’m hoping for an angry or frighteningly ferocious tiger or panther design, kind of like Bagheera, yet benigh underneath.

    Popplio 6/10
It’s design is just…. a tad underwhelming. I call water/Psychic, sentient sea lion, or maybe water/fighting

Solgaleo (if that is in fact it’s name) 9/10
Brilliant design. It’s exactly what a sun legendary should represent, right down to the mane and the face. I know it’ll be fire type, I’m hoping it’ll get a secondary type but i really can’t tell what it is, maybe light? xP I love the expression on it’s face. I was previously set on moon, but I think I’m on the fence now and I’ll wait for official art and more info. I call a mixed bulky, or physically inclined bulky

    Lunaala 7/10
I feel it’s a bit underwhelming and at the same time overdesigned. It’s chest looks positively skeletal, and since it has wings, I can almost bet it’ll be ghost/flying but maybe it’ll ghost/fairy. I’ll bet on the ghost part though. If it is in fact ghost, solgaleo could be a fire/normal legendary though I doubt gamefreak would create a normal legend and the exact type combination as pyroar with a similar inspiration. I call special sweeper or mixed/special sweeper. I don’t see this thing being bulky, and in fact I have a hunch it’ll end up being incredibly fast yet fragile.

I CAN’T GET OVER HOW ADORABLE ROWLET IS AND HOW AWESOME ITS FINAL EVO CAN BE :’) I’m sure there’s some fanart swimming around there already.

    Reply
  108. Anyone disappointed they didn’t actually reveal the legendaries’ names? I’m still 99% sure they’re gonna be Solgaleo and Lunaala though, especially now that it’s confirmed that they are a lion and lunar wing thing. ♥

After the first 3 gyms on island 1 you can choose or be directed depending on some mission or something to travel to Island 2a or 2b where you have gyms 4-5 and 6-7 respectively. After finishing both islands U travel to island 3 where the 8th gym and league are set.
Also wouldn’t mind if the different game play would be version dependent.

(also it better be a fast special attacker cause with that typing it will not succeed as a bulky pokemon)

  116. Now, first impressions:

Rowlet: this thing is actually cute. An ice beam will destroy him, but it’s design is ok.

Litten: we have too many cats and too many fire felines. This one is a bit creepy, his face in particular.

Popplio: finally a happy water starter artwork (was it so difficult GF?). It’s cute and simple, I like it. But hey, just because Greninja is the fastest water pokemon doesn’t mean we had to come back to slow water starters…

Solgaleo: yeah it looks big and strong but it’s another feline pokemon, another lion, (another fire lion probably. Two fire feline in the same generation is too much).

Lunaala: weird, but a good weird. I mean it’s majestic, really particular, I think inspired to Dracula. The crescent moons and stars on its wings are cool and the night sky on his head is so beautiful. Really good job GF.

  117. Does anyone see a fairy aspect in Popplio? I don’t know why but I feel like his final evolution might be fairy.

    Reply
    • Actually I was just thinking about this. I agree, if azumarill can be fairy, heck this thing with it’s frills and red nose definitely qualifies. I could see it becoming a majestically elegant sea lion water/fairy.

      Reply
    • also its character seems to be based on spectacle and showmanship as well as some playfulness, which is characteristic of fairy types, considering dazzling gleam and play rough are the two main moves

      Reply
    • Also a water/fairy starter would be great. Only three weaknesses. It will not be fast so I think it will be a wall (great Hp/Def/Sp. Def, good Sp. Att, poor Attack and speed)

      Reply
      • I think it’ll be offensively mixed, considering its based on a sealion. play rough will fit right in with its design and potential final evo design.

        Reply
    • Moon actually has something to do with shadows…Ghost/Fairy? Could be a great combo. Only weak to Ghost and Steel with three immunities. It would be a terrific wall. It seemes to be based on Dracula, so maybe Dark or Poison? Or Water, cause moon causes floods

  118. I was so busy studying for an exam I didn’t even remember!
The legendaries look nice, I wonder if the same face is a design choice or will play an important role in the story.
Also, the starters are pretty average. The designs remind me of Gen 5 for some reason. I’ll judge them by their final evos, but for now rowlett is the clear winner. Water and Fire starters look pretty bad..

  119. Popplio: Can snort bubbles to use them in battle

Also Popplio: Has Water Gun instead of Bubbles as his first move

    Reply
    • It’d be cool if he got a signature bubble move. Froakie should have gotten frubble. Who cares if Greninja already had two signature moves?

      Reply
  120. I know everyone sees the moon legendary as this menacing bat, but does anyone else think it’s quite feminine and elegant as well? I feel like it looks a lot better on the box art than in game, because it’s got a really cool face with red eyes and stars which is barely visible. If you look closely you can see in the animation it forms like a third evil eye on its forehead which is cool.

Solgaleo is like smaller than Entei, which is weird for a box art legendary, they’re usually quite big right?

But with Hoopa Unbound, Yveltal, Magearna and Diancie, it’s evident that legendary Pokemon are beginning to look very different to how dialga/ reshiram/ groudon/ Ho oh looked

  122. General Thoughts:

Region: LOVE IT!!! I have always wanted a Hawaii based region and obviously this is now confirmed. Looks like it will be island hop style since the first island seems to only include 3 or 4 towns/cities.

Starters: Alright….. I don’t hate them but i don’t love them either. It is early of course but Rowlet looks rather strange and Litten is em…unusual? Popplio is pretty funny looking and i can definitely see a Water/Fairy typing going on which would be brilliant! I predict Grass/Flying, Fire/Dark and Water/Fairy although later evolutions will tell better.

Legendaries: Both look EPIC! Definitely going to share a typing going by the identical starry foreheads. Either Fairy or Psychic shared typing and then I would hazard a guess at Fire and Ghost. Would prefer Fire/Fairy and Ghost/Fairy as both would be new type combinations.

Characters: Too early to say much but I love how relaxed they all look. Definitely captured the Hawaiian style there. Love that customization looks to be coming back.

    My Wish List:

    – A Water type gym that features underwater battles (a new battle style that boosts the speed and power of water type Pokemon)…OR this could be the Champion!

    – A Dark Type Gym…. seriously GF at this point it is full on discrimination! If we can have several Dark Type members of the Elite 4 then we can have a Gym! Also… Steel and Fairy both had Gyms.. IN THE GENERATION THEY DÉBUT IN!

    – A Dolphin Water Type…. this is Hawaii… there must be Dolphins!

    – Challenge Mode…anyone… not likely but I can dream right?

Now that we have seen some of the game…what does everyone wan’t to see?

        • Well Manatee’s are often described as “sea cows”, and they’re herbivores and gentle creatures. They like to graze a lot too in shallow waters. Grass seems a fitting type to me. Often when I think of manatees I think of them chomping on some seaweed

          Reply
      • Hmmm interesting. I assume you are basing this off of the herbivore trait of a Manitee. It’s a stretch but why not… if they can make an ice cream Pokemon then a Water/Grass Manitee seems outstandingly logical 🙂

  124. Watched the trailer a good few times and I’m very excited.

Far too tired to go into detail but what we’ve seen of the region looks amazing (and the fact that Hawaii is split into different islands is promising, hopefully not too much water)
The sprites look pretty good, I’m glad that everyone has some height to them
Starters look cute and start-ery. Grass/Flying, Fire/Dark(?) and Water/Flying or Ice? (That’s if they are dual typed). Defy gonna start with Litten as I always start with the Fire type, but my final team during the first time I play through a new region always has all the starters, so my team is half full already!
Legendaries look pretty cool (but lil bit swaying towards Sun, it looks so cool)

Hopefully Corocoro will reveal a tad bit more about the legends, characters & region

I’ve been seeing a lot of negative comments about the Starters on my Facebook fanpage that I run as well as the game overall on the cancerous Pokemon Youtube Channel and Twitter accounts. To be honest, I want to punch some of these people in the face. Lol. Sun and Moon both look really awesome! I see a major improvement in presentation since X and Y. They’re using full 3D models like they did for the ones in the cutscenes in X and Y (I hope that means all trainers, even regular ones, don’t have 2D art anymore). I just wanted to know anyone else felt the same way about today’s presentation.

  130. STARTERS
I think it is refreshing how the colors of the starters are mixing it up a bit as well. We have a mostly tan grass starter and mostly black fire starter. Though, part of me wishes there were most of the original colors present, it is also maybe a refreshing change. It’s hard not to notice that these starters are so different from previous starters and is definitely a break in the mold.

    POPPLIO
I LOVE Popplio!!!! I think I found my new overall favorite starter! It’s literally the cutest Pokemon I have ever seen. It has never been such an easy choice picking my starting pokemon. Just look at its little ball nose, cone nose, fin-paws, frilled color, and little smile! I seriously want one right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evolution: Please do not get a “tough” evolution, I will be happy with a cute circus clown or an elegant circus performer. Though, I do see some form of physical performer, and therefore I predict (maybe water/fighting).

    LITTEN
This is an interesting direction for a fire starter. It’s pretty hilarious how Litten (which is an amazing name) has a little fire spike when it attacks similar to when cats hiss or are nervous. This is a bad little kitty for sure. (fire/dark typing confirmed).

Evolution: Is a Cereberus evolution too much to ask?!?! The coloring makes it pretty obvious it will evolve into a fire/dark type, but I think of Cereberus particularly with fire and darkness.

    ROWLET
It is a funny little gizmo. I like his little bowtie and blank expression. As the grass quill pokemon I think he is a studious pokemon that will take little notes on his bark. I love the idea of a grass owl because of “paper” books. I am thinking (grass/psychic) type to go with that knowledge?

Evolution: I think he will see books, knowledge, and writing as theme. Therefore, I see him as being a studious owl with a little grass mask that appear like glasses or a monocle. [Grass/Psychic]

Matchup Predictions: There will be two opposing type triads.
    Grass ——> Fire —> Water
    Psychic <—- Dark <— Fighting

Also, the Moon Legendary is a beautiful use of the lunar eclipse in the design. This is also in the contending for new favorite legendary, but I think that Cresselia will always be my favorite. Now I have two moon legendaries that are so vastly different that I am 100% satisfied with this darker elegant design.

        • I agree^.

It would have been nice to see another starter apart from grass getting a dual type… Like Litten could have been fire dark from the get go

          Reply
          • I don’t think we should be flinging dual first stage Pokemon willy nilly
Bulbasaur gets a pass because gen one but Rowlet can do so because of its avinoid species

    • I also think it’s great that all three starters seem to have a following similar in strength and numbers. Based on what I’m seeing in different social media, popplio has the smallest vocal fanbase. But all three are appealing to me. Heck, this is the first time I’ve ever decided to pick the grass starter. And that’s with a 4x ice weakness.

Finally now I can comment. I actually like the starters.

Admittedly when I first saw them I was shocked they looked so different to what I expected. But then as I saw more I started getting a better understanding of them.

Personally I will be using the water starter Popplio on my main Sun. But I shall also use the others on my second game Moon.

The Legends are beautiful. A fierce lion wolf for Sun as I predicted and a really magestic lunar Pokémon for Moon. Well done on them I say.

All in all the Tropical Region Alola looks gorgeous and seems full of history. One thing I will say is I’m convinced they are keeping more of the region from us and this is just about 23rds of it. That it its very rich in content 😀

I’m pleasantly surprised by this and I’m really pumped for these now 😀

    • The bit of the region we have seen is probably about 1/4th of it as it only has 4/5 towns/cities. I expect this will be an island hopping region and that like Hawaii, there could be loads of islands but anything up to 8 main islands. The one we have seen sort of resembles the main island of Hawaii. It looks like it could hold 2….3 at a push Gyms which leave 5 or 6 for other islands.

  133. In this battle vs the “rival” he is using the starter that is weak to yours….could this mean that this is the nice one and there will be a Blue/Silver type of rival with the other starter that we meet later?

  134. I know this has been debated before but now that people know solrock and lunatone aren’t the box mascots (I never understood the theory that they would be become the legendaries– hopefully it was a joke I wasn’t getting) but anyways, what part, if any, do you think they will play in the new games? I’m thinking version exclusives but opposite (so lunatone would be in sun, etc.) and that maybe the bad guys would use it. I’m thinking the plot might have something to do with an eclipse so the sun bad guys having a moon Pokemon would make sense.

  135. Whose everyone picking? And for those of us getting each version, what 2 starters? I’m kinda torn… I started off really liking Popplio and Litten but Rowlett could be a monster…

  136. I’m wondering what we’ll be seeing for final evo designs. The last three generations have all had very thoughtful and well executed overarching design motifs (regardless of how I felt about individual designs). I’m curious what this gen will bring. Popplio feels like it might have a clown or performer motif so I’m wondering if the through line will have something to do with that. Maybe a circus motif? Ring leader rowlet with its leaf bow tie, popplio clown/acrobat, and litten who knows… Maybe a play on animal tamer or fortune teller with those eyes… Thoughts?

    • So the symbols for both Sun and Moon are in there… The Moon legend is at night and the Sun legend is during the day… What do we think this means? Can both be obtained in the versions or are they version exclusives? Why have both symbols present?

      Reply
      • Probably the same reason Dialga and Palkia were both brought up, or Kyogre and Groudon. Probably one or the other based on the versiom. I don’t care. These games are gorgeous.

        Reply
    • I’m having the same issue… I always go with the more majestic, regal elegant Pokemon- usually the ‘light side’, so that’s Ho Oh, Reshiram, and of course Xerneas… But I also love the concept of the moon, and the mystique of night. But, based of the gameplay, I prefer solgaleo’s design! Just because it looks better formed and more original. The way it’s signature move looks also amazing. But Lunaala looks gorgeous in the box art, but it’s face is so small so people don’t notice the little eye lash and stars on its head, which are my favourite features. Also, it’s move is just a copy of oblvion wing… Maybe I’ll begin to like it more if I see the battle animation is as awesome as the box art and if it’s part fairy type. But yeah, this is problematic for me.

      Reply
          • But would that show up in its game model? Would they zoom in on its face in the battle or something?

          • I don’t like it’s leg area or the massive round bone things round it’s wings. Why is it yellow bone it should be silver. And why doesn’t it’s whole body glow blue when it’s using that move, it’s head looks awkward

          • it didn’t have legs by the way hahaha……yellow r suitable for it …yellow color and violate color like red and green and black and white it contrast by each other but they complete each other .

          • That’s the issue with it for me the lack of legs. But yellow, red, orange are colours I associate with Solgaleo and the sun. Lunaala is silver, purple, white blue etc,..

  137. I was thinking, what if Litten evolves into a Saber tooth tiger, but it’s Fire/Rock instead of Dark, which is more fitting. However, it would fit in the triad. Grass/Flying, Water/Fighting, and Fire/Rock.

  138. The game looks exceptionally well done thus far! The graphics have vastly improved including the in-game figures and the little nuances incorporated such as NPCs reacting to your movements and actions, the movements of the Pokemon in-battle, and the overall environmental design. The region itself looks to be immensely vibrant and brimming with a rich, in-depth lore much like that of DPP! I cannot wait until we receive more information! Features such as character customization seem to be returning so that’s always a plus! I feel like this will be the most adventurous Pokemon game yet with the island traveling mechanic, exploring the seas, and traversing through a plethora of different terrains! #HYPE

    – Rowlet, a Grass/Flying giant, majestic warrior/studious/wise owl with a leaf helmet and very much like Staraptor
    – Popplio, a Water/Psychic or Water sea clown lion
    – A town built around the side of a mountain and a Flying-type gym located at the peak

  140. The descriptions put in Pokemon site are really good. They give these Pokemon a character.

I loved Rowlet’s simple design and u wot m8 pose. “It has a habit of turning its head in battle to face its Trainer and receive instructions.” how lovely <3

Litten spitting fiery fur balls and changing its fur with blaze sounds cool. "Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn't show its emotions on the surface." describing me <3

I didn't like the concept of Pooplio. It reminds me those tortured animals in sea worlds 🙁

Sun legend looks like Mega Pyroar, it has the same kanji design in its mane. But it's not a problem for me, there are thousands of animals in real world which happen to look like one another. Are we going to get three fire cats in a row?

  141. I still cant believe this are the starters we got! I mean they grew on me rather quickly but certainly havent expected those 3.
Chespin had a dark color scheme last season and now we get a full bright one. Half flying type. Stunner!
Fennekin last gen really light happy colors, this gen Litten dark colors, mysterious very slim .
Popplio complete contrast again, Froakie seemed fast , agile light. Popplio seesm NOT!

Really well done. avoiding to be repetitive. Really excited to see them in the anime.

  142. Well, I’m in love with Kukui…

In other words, I’m definitely picking Litten because I’m a sucker for a cute cat, and I’m hoping for a jungle cat evolution (please no big cats; I want something leaner) And the region looks absolutely stunning. I’m really looking forward to exploring it for Kukui. 🙂

  143. Ohhhh my God I love this!!!
I was exhausted after getting home from Civil War (It was pretty good). I got to school and my friend came running asking if I saw the thing. I was confused then he showed me the trailer and now I’m HYPED!!!!!!!

I love all of these starters. This may be the first time I instantly loved all of the starters! I have to go with Litten. It seems so different compared to the other fire starters. The other seem obviously fire. Like, they have fire on their tails and are all orange but Litten is black with some red. Looks like we’re getting an awesome fire dark type! Really cool! (Also please let it evolve into an awesome fire pumba or panther or something)

I love Rowlet! It is so cute and smol! I liked it rotating its head to get commands from the trainer. Seems like they broke the reptile grass type trend once more. I’m guessing since he is dual typed he’ll keep that typing, But who knows, maybe he’ll become a Grass/Dragon owl. A dragon owl?

I think that if I didn’t choose Litten though, I would go with Popplio. He is so cute! I love seals. I dont even know what to say about him other than he is just adorable! I think he will stay pure water but if he does it a secondary type I’m hoping for Ice or maybe even fairy. But Popplio can go so many different ways and I love that in a starter.

The game looks BEAUTIFUL. I had to pause it multiple times just to take it in. It’s like the cutscenes in XY/ORAS, but instead of being cutscenes, they are the whole game! I love the region. They are really going strong with the Hawaii inspiration. So if we can get a blue dog alien pokemon to go along with it that would be great.

The legendaries are really cool! Can’t say I expected a bat. I do still wish it was more humanoid but hell, bats are awesome so I don’t mind too much. The Sun legendary is really cool. Finally a Lion that hopefully wont be as disappointing as Pyroar (Give him a mega!) Super cool designs!

I think I’m as hyped as I was for X/Y, if not more. But the most exciting part…
is that Gen 4 remakes will use this engine.

    • Gen 4 remakes were one of the first things that came to my mind. It’s my favorite gen and it makes me happy thinking about how fucking beautiful Sinnoh and all of its Pokemon will look in this style.

  144. I have a feeling the protagonist has moved there from Kanto. His mother(?) seems to have a Meowth and the Japanese trailer might be hinting this a little.
This kind of environment probably won’t allow for much diversity of terrain, but we’ll have to see. I’d imagine the Pokémon that appear in this region need to be tropical or at least neutral mammals for them to not look out of place. I wouldn’t be surprised if many old Pokémon were transfer only.
I can’t picture a wild ice type Pokémon in this region…I wonder if they’ll have to shoehorn a couple in.

    • They’ll probably just have another Hoenn situation where there’s a very specific ice location. Ice types were shunted aside in X&Y, I hope that’s not the case again.

          • I’m surprised people feel that way. I thought people would like him the most. I think it’s the cutest out of all of them and has alot more personality but that’s just me.

          • Eh, nothing about it stands out to me. It seems generic when compared to the other two, who are deviations from traditional fire and grass starters

          • Yeah, I can see that. I’ll probably be picking him if a third version rolls around though

          • I’d like them to prove me wrong though. I hope these all have good evolutions after last gens disaster. I hate them all

          • I really just hope that we are kept completely in the dark about their evolutions. One of my favorite parts of Soul Silver when I played it the very first time was that I had no idea what to expect. No idea what it would become. I hope they keep them a secret until release

          • They always leak though :/ I’m on the fence about it because I like to plan my teams out but it may be nice just to go through the region and catch and use what I want

          • If the color scheme was a bit lighter: light blue mixed with a polluted/tainted white, and the red nose was gone but replaced by black whiskers it would be much more appealing to the eye. The Pokemon itself exudes lots of charisma and character but the color pallet and overall design dilute those exemplary attributes.

  145. I hope rowlet final evo is his wings, folded in front of him and the pattern and designs makes it look like a tux and also has a monocle

  164. Okay… So now that the starters have been revealed, lets hear your Sun and Moon characters! What’s his or her name(s), what is their personality, what starter do they pick, does the starter have a nickname, why did he/she pick that starter…

I have two versions. Pokemon Sun is Philip and he has Litten. He is fun and friendly and a true hero. Pokemon Moon is Philip’s sister, Aurora and her Popplio. She’s a little bratty but not in a negative way, she just is a true princess.

  167. With the day nearly at a close, I’d like to share a few thoughts on the news today since I haven’t gotten a chance. I may embrace some unpopular opinions, which I understand, so let’s keep our responses tolerant.
    – At first, I wasn’t too fond of these starters. Staring at them for a good five minutes allowed me to embrace their simplistic, yet effective designs.
    – Rufflet is by far my favorite of the starters. It’s super cute, and I love the chibi owl-like design. Will definitely be the first starter I pick up, at least until the remaining evolutions are revealed.
    – Litten is different, and I think that color scheme still has a bit to grow on me. It definitely sticks out as a Fire-type starter. Probably my least favorite, though. I’ve always picked the Fire starter, but this Generation, things may have to change.
    – Popplio, strange name. Nonetheless, it’s an interesting-looking Pokemon, but something about it seems off. It’s interesting to see how it will evolve from there.
    – The Alola region, or whatever we’ve seen of it, is definitely small. Not fond of the name whatsoever, but I like it so far based on what we’ve seen. Very Hawaii-like, and that’s different from what we’ve seen before. Am I hoping there is more to the region? Absolutely, there’s no way we’ve seen the full map (unless we go into space or something, I don’t know). Honestly, I’m not really hoping we go back to Kalos unles it’s a postgame thing, and I’m excited to see exactly how much we’re working with.
    – CUSTOMIZATION! It’s safe to say that there are some options at this point. I highly doubt it’s a Kalos-only thing, and the only reason it was excluded from ORAS was for nostalgic purposes. Let’s hope it takes on the extent that XY did.
    – The rival and potential professor–I like them both. Clothes are very Hawaii-like, and they just seem fitting with the landscape we’ve seen.
    – Protagonists? Can’t really comment much on them. They don’t look much different from Calem and Serena, at least in terms of their facial appearance. Hopefully their full outfits match the region’s theme a little better.
    – Ah, the legendaries. Honestly, I wasn’t too fond of Solgaleo’s predominant white coloring, but it does set it apart from Pokemon like Pyroar. Lunaala looks REALLY cool, and I absolutely love its appearance. I think this is the first pair of games where I really love both legendaries. They’re unique and distinct, unlike anything we’ve seen before. Will I have to purchase both versions…most likely.
    – In terms of the graphics, they look nice, but the region isn’t nearly as vibrant as Hoenn. It seems very washed away and bland, in my opinion, but that’s a judgement from just a few seconds of footage. I’m not too fond of what we’ve seen so far, since everything looks the same. I couldn’t make out anything unique except for the clearly industrialized areas in the midst of the tropical region. I am optimistic, however, that the region will come to life the more we see it.
    – My biggest fear is that what we saw of the region is all we get. While I don’t think that’s likely, if every island is that size, we’ll be doing a hell of a lot of traveling this Generation. I think it’s safe to say that the island we saw has no additional boundaries outside of it, and is separate from the others. We’re definitely starting on this island, maybe for a gym or two, because there’s no way an entire league is set in that small space. I don’t know how GF approached the multiple-island situation. Are there five or ten different islands, or is this just the sister island to something much more massive? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

At this point, there’s a little over 6 months until the release of the game! I’m liking the little bit of information we have so far, and I hope that continues for as long as possible. I would really like to be more surprised with these two games, so I’ll try to stay away from major spoilers in the weeks before launch. Let me know how you feel about the topics I’ve covered, even if your thoughts are contrary to mine. It feels good to get excited about a game again. The wait begins.

    • Hello Dicie, I thought about you today. I’m glad you’re here 🙂 When I first saw the starters at 5AM this morning I felt this odd mix of disappointment and relief. I did not like the designs for any of them…at all. But now, that has completely changed. I love all three of them, with Litten being my favorite of the bunch. I’m excited for the Alola region mainly because we are returning to a tropical region. In my life we’ve finally come full circle, since Hoenn was my very first experience of the Pokemon world. I’m also excited about the possibility of a chill Hawaiian soundtrack!

    • Regarding the legends they have done white ones before but they run the gauntlet from Fire (Reshiram) and Water (Palkia).

Well after two generations of nothing but box dragons, at least we’re back to variety starting with Gen 6.

For the islands, I can see it being like the southern Hoenn water routes the way we do island hopping. I think it’s gonna be fun as long as Repel is involved… yikes!

My money is on 4+ islands. Smaller islands like mirage islands might be back, but I think it’ll be a tide-based mechanic (time of day/week) when they’ll appear.

I’m also guessing there’s a cable car or ferry between two closer islands so it’s not just all surfing and we can sit back and enjoy the ride. (Or at least get a special cutscene the first time the ride is taken.)

    • I gotta say, I woke up this morning, watched the trailer in bed while I was half asleep and thought, these games are going to be TERRIBLE. I hated the starters, the legends were alright, and I found the region to be all tropical and no diversity. Plus we just visited a tropical region.

However, as soon as I watched it a few more times I began to like the Pokemon more and more and now I actually love all the starters, the legends are AMAZING (especially Solgaleo), but I still worry the region might not be diverse…. BUT THESE GAMES ARE HYPE

  168. Late night thoughts:
    1) I’m assuming dive will return. There will likely be a crap ton of water routes (*cough* 7.8 *cough*) so this seems a given
    2) I hope the islands are each unique. I said earlier it would be cool if they each were a different Biome, but I doubt it.
    3) I have confidence the regional bird will be pure flying type and that there will be a dark gym.
    4) I don’t think Soaring, Dexnav, or challenge mode will return. Gamefreak almost always keeps the best features as exclusives for some incredibly asinine reason.

Im going to guess the starter types! Feel free to add your 2 cents!

Rowlet: Grass/flying (and will stay grass/flying)

Litten: Fire/Dark seems most likely. Id also guess either electric (using static from friction to ignite its fur), poison (the flammable resin on its fur could be toxic), or ghost (schrodinger’s cat expirament?)

Popplio: pure water seems most likely unfortunately. But if it did, i’d guess psychic or fairy, to add a mystical element to its circus tricks, maybe rock, as it likes round objects and rocks could be used in combat. Maybe even turn its acrobatics into hand to hand, becoming part fighting.

Yes, the graphics do seem better and to achieve that look, they probably had to downsize the size of the region to effectively pull it off BUT if your gonna spend some time to put a new region together, why make it so small? It aldo lends itself the fewer new pokémon due to the size of the region. I just hope that it is like the Orange Islands where this island isnt the only one. Another thought might be that they made it so small because we would SOMEHOW get to travel back to Kalos. If that is the case, then im fine with that. Otherwise, im SUPER STOKED!!!!!!!!! • It’s just one island. If you look you can see two pokecenters. There will be a lot more islands. Just like Hawaii

    • Size of region has nothing do with performance. The size only matters for the data on the cartridge, but they can increase model complexity with the same horsepower with only slightly increasing the data needed.

  178. Do people realise that there’s a dock on the island? Definitely makes it possible to go to other islands by boat. 🙂

    • Wouldn’t it be cool if we were to be given a mission such as delivering a letter to someone in another island and as we’re sailing to the said island we got caught up in a huge storm which caused our ship to sink and we ended up lost at sea surfing with our pokemon. In the morning we eventually wash ashore in this mysterious island with all sorts or cool places and exotic pokemon. GAMEFREAK MAKE IT HAPPEN

  179. I really hope they finally ditch fighting type starters!
How many new pokemon do you think this region will have?
    I think 60-100, but i really want 100+

      • Idk kalos had to make 3d models for every single pokemon so maybe thats why it was such a small new pokemon dex, now that they have 3d models already they can just make 100 more.
Plus old pokemon doesnt mean its small, hoenn had older pokemon too and it still brought 136(?) pokemon

        • Well they had been working on the models for a while. We had access to them on Pokedex 3D. I just want another generation like 5 with a bunch of new pokes.

          • The Pokedex 3D models aren’t the same as the XY models, I’m pretty sure, unless they merely retextured them.

  180. My male character, Philip is getting Litten and will be on the Sun version. My female character, Aurora, will get Rowlet or Popplio depending on their evolutions, and will be on the Moon version.

  181. Well guys I dreamt of Popplio… That honestly binds me to pick him
This is truly a first since I never chose a Water Starter outside Mudkip and that was only because Hoenn made me

And in that dream it evolved into a fat blue lump… Not what I was going for but nonetheless still impressive

  182. I was just watching the 2013 xy trailer and now the sunmoon one, and I liked both trailers but I felt more intrigued and excited by the xy one because of the announcers voice.

  183. Okay I really think the starters are all going to have a circus theme this time (sorry if anyone else said this first but I was just kinda thinking about it today)

obviously Seal-musical horn act is a thing BUT

I have been thinking about the name “Rowlet” all day and it sounds to me like either “roulette” or “ring leader” which both have “round” or “spinning” sounds to them (he can spin his head and has a bowtie! Why would he have a bowtie or “bowtie-like” accessory unless that was going to mean something later)

Also, his new move is “leafage” a brand new move shown by THROWING HIS QUILLS LIKE KNIVES. A KNIFE THROWING ACT.

and then Litten could be the fire ring act (his fur is covered in flammable oil and can be burned off, as stated in his profile). He is also a TIGER, which is a very common animal in the circus.

Themes were a definite thing in the last generation (arguably all the others as well), with the RPG classes being represented. I think this is very possible, personally.

  184. Does any one else wish the moon legendary looked a bit less feminine? Am I the only one who sees it’s feminine side? Kinda takes away from the badassery.
