It’s that time of the month again and Corocoro could leak at any given moment! This month the issue is expected to contain some information on Pokémon Sun & Moon and while it’s unknown how much, hopes are high for the first information blowout.
The issue official releases on April 15th in Japan, but leaks are expected any time so what better way to make the wait go quicker than sharing your predictions for the issue? (There are none, I don’t care what you say). We want our readers to share their thoughts and predictions on what they think the issue will contain: will it be new starter Pokémon? Perhaps a look at the mascot legendaries? Maybe you’re not expecting much at all aside from the debut of Sun & Moon in a magazine with a reprint of that wonderful announcement trailer?

Me too. My eyes saw Corocoro in the title,mind blew before it read the rest.
So excited for information it seems like the games were announced years ago and not +- 40 days.
I really hope starters will be shown, but think Mascotts will be shown for sure and maybe starters and PCs.
Hoping for some fakes to come out as well judt to make it more interesting.

But it’s been almost 2 months or something since the official reveal, so we’re bound for some new information.
I think we’re going to get a shot of gameplay and the starters. After the tv show situation, people think we won’t get any info, i think we will.
Plus I’d rather have small bits of info than to have everything talked about like in oras and 2/3 of the dex shown in x/y.
I think starters and legendary mascots for sure. -at least sillhouettes though I think we will get actual images of at least some new Pokemon. I think we may also get an image of the map which will send some people into analytical overdrive to figure out if it matches their location predictions. That’s the thing— game freak wants to build hype until the release later this year. You do that by showing enough to keep our attention without giving away the farm. Starters would get people analyzing types, evolutionary lines, etc. as would legenedaries. A map, like I said, would be a ticket to the hype train for many. I’m intrigued to say the least.
I am not expecting much if anything.
For me it can go two ways:
Silhouettes of starters and box art. Plus maybe some gameplay.
Or
Silhouettes of the legendaries, and then starters and gameplay. Maybe the trainers
I think we’ll get some information (and maybe a gameplay after the corocoro leaks), but in May we won’t get too much new information, because in June we’ll have the E3, and they will release more news about the games and, at least, a gameplay trailer

Best part of any new gen is the mascots for me! They’re always great and the sole reason I pick one game over the other. Starters would be exciting, but since Gen 5 none of the final evos have done it for me, and they’re all I care about. They keep trying to suprise us, eg. Dropping the foam theme suddenly with greninja and making it angular, or changing Samurrot from a otter to seal . I love greninja, but like the starters Design to develop consistently, it’s one of my weirder requirements, I feel like it uses up ideas, and doesn’t draw out the great designs of the first evo..
But legendary mascots! That I’m excited for 🙂
I always thought I was the only one who noticed how God awfully angular greninja is. It’s design is so lacking, I dont see how anyone likes it at all and somehow it’s a fan favorite. I hate what they did with samurott said well. If they wanted a samurai otter, why was its design executed so strangely? It’s a weird 4-legged sea lion, otter, unicorn? Like how are these designs making it past the drawing board? I’m really hoping they don’t fuck over the new water starter. The last good one was Empoleon who’s design they completely knocked out of the park
To me Samurott looks just like a really creepy lame dog. Most embarrassing final form ever.

I think greninja looks great, but the foam theme seemed a lot more prominent that the ninja theme. I agree, 4th gen starters were perfect, development between them all of the key themes in design, and they all looked so powerful. Empoleon was perfect!
Samurrot :/ such potential! I actually really liked oshawotts colour scheme and snow cone head, but they completely got rid of it! And then there’s emboar. We’ve never had a fire starters final evo on all fours and emboar would be good for that! They also got rid of the ball at the end of its tail which glowed when it breathed fire as Tepig, which I thought was such a nice addition. The design is so illogical. It walks on all fours but can also fight on two legs with swords that it literally pulls from nowhere, a huge gut, and a tail fin that biologically makes no sense. How does it even hold the swords with no hands?
think about how much cooler this design could’ve been. It’s a samurai otter. This could’ve been epic water/fighting ass kicker

In my opinion it looks badass, it’s one of my if not my favorite starter.
Wow I would’ve preffered something closer to this too. The jump that oshowatt makes when it finally turns into samuratt is rediculous. It’s like now how did THAT turn into THAT.
I also had high hopes for snivy grown legs and taking on a more dragon like form. But instead they just made it evolve into a large green snake

I struggle to see how we could get our first look at gameplay from a magazine and not an actual video – unless they release a video simultaneously… My most optimistic prediction would be official art of the starters and maybe the boxart legendaries.

Looking back at the release timeline for XY info I don’t think we can expect much: at best perhaps the starters and the protagonists but even that might be pushing it BUT we will most likely get some screenshots and news about Magearna to tie in with the movie.

I wouldn’t think there’d be much left to reveal about Magearna… I don’t think we’ll see anything else about it for a while, unless it’s part of a trio.

I really hope that this time they will shake things up by changing the starter types ( or at least the final evos’ ones, make something crazy, idk), by completely changing the story (why do we have to start in a small village etc each time?. And PLEASE make the game harder, a lot of us are not 10-year-olds. But getting to the point, I think we’ll mostly likely get some screenshots of the game, maybe something about its location and the starters’ sillhouettes. They probably won’t give much away now considering we still have a long wait before the games come out.

Totally agreed. Why don’t we ever start off in a huge city like so many of us are actually from? It would be really nice if they would stop being afraid of creatively expanding. I’m totally down for new starter types. Like maybe psychic, fighting, and dark? And then their final evolutions could be part water/fire/grass? I know it won’t happen but a boy can dream.
If they don’t change anything people are bound to lose interest. I’m playing ORAS for the second time atm since it came out, while I replayed all of the other games at least 3 times in the first few months

First start as a petite bipedal dolphin calf with a pink pearl in the forehead and tiny legs
Then it gets longer and more streamlined with a long wavy dorsal fin and flippers and hair like antenna above the eyes
Finally a majestic Dolphin with long pectoral fins with waves similar to wings and three forehead pearls, two pelvic fins and lastly a beautiful tail
My point is it uses Psychic energy from the pearls to float on land and even short lived flight

I really wish they give some 1st generation pokemon regular evolutions, like arbok, weezing, primeape, raticate and specially seaking, it’s a beautiful pokemon and it really could use one. What would you guys like to see in terms of evolution?

I’d say expectations for this one should remain on the lower side. I don’t mean to say that we won’t get anything, but April typically doesn’t give us a huge drop of info, at least not in recent years. I will say that this period is closer to BW’s with how the info is being given to us and in 2010 we DID get footage in April, but I’m not 100% it’ll happen again in that exact way. I’d say we get minimal info this month, but then a good amount of info next month. Either way if they don’t just show us what we’ve already seen it’ll be new and that is something I think we can all say HALLELUJAH to lol
I predict not much news for next month, since E3 will be held in June (and there they will give us a lot of info like gameplay I guess). If that’s the case, we’ll get a good amount of info these days.
Yes E3 will most likely give us a good amount of info you are correct there, but don’t forget about how May was for XY. We got Pancham, Gogoat, Fletchling, Helioptile, the Pokedex, and the Region name + map. So May could give us plenty before E3.

I think tonight is a pretty safe bet if there’s actually something of worth in the issue. If we end up with basically nothing again it’ll prolly leak tomorrow or Wednesday.

But lets say it’s just the direct info we already have. Pokenchi hyped up that footage because it hadn’t been shown on tv before. What if CoroCoro starts with that and then next month we get actual new info? I really hope we get something different, but it is a possibly that shouldn’t be swept under the rug.
I guess, if there are no leaks in the next 2 or 3 hours, we have to wait another 24 hours till the 13th. Its around 7am in Japan. When anyone gets the magazine, then it would be in the morning i guess…
2 to 3 hours? That’s not the usual time frame for leaks. It’s still very early in Japan so that small time frame gives little to no time. It’ll likely happen over night like it has been the past number of times.

Ok let me correct myself then. It won’t happen until at least mid after noon in Japan. That’s usually when it happens as the people have had time to get the issue and take pictures. It could happen at anytime, but it typically happens at that time.

Yes, we should focus on giving new evolutions to older Pokemon, instead of megas. I don’t have any in mind right now, but Pokemon such as those that you mentioned above are good candidates, single stage Pokemon like Druddigon should also be considered for new regular evolutions. We need more regular evolutions, I agree 100% on that.
But I mean, let’s just be real. Milotic is a complete Pokemon, it’s not getting a new evolution. It’s the counterpart to Gyarados, so it’s most certainly deserving of a mega form. Plus she’s beautiful so make her Mega beautiful too <3

Eh, not really a factor to be honest. They made mega Altaria the “poster Pokemon” for contests because they needed to give Lisia(?) a main Pokemon. Milotic is Wallace’s ace, making it the main of TWO main characters doesn’t make sense.
Flygon didn’t get a mega either, and it was Aarune(?)’s ace, or “main Pokemon”, but in all likelihood it will eventually. So will Milotic.
To be fair everyone knows Mega Flygon was intended but they experienced writers block

The problem with the expectations game is that people all want different things. Some just want boxart, some want starters, some want legendaries, some want ALL of that. So no matter what is revealed, some people will be disappointed.
My expectations for ANY Corocoro is just that they reveal new information. I don’t care what it is, as long as it’s something new and something we didn’t know about before, I’ll be satisfied. And I wish more people on here would take the same approach so I don’t have to see so many negative comments.

Just look at all the previous Corocoro issues from XY, there was some interesting news almost every month’s issue whether it be new Pokemon, screenshots, evolutions etc.

Nothing to see here folks nothing see! lol I’d say it’s still too early for leaks as of yet. It’s only 8:32 am in Japan and although yes the leakers could get it and leak this early I don’t think they would. they leak at their leisure and a lot of the time the leaks come from people who aren’t necessarily super into Pokemon and are just leaking whatever they feel is relevant.

I don’t understand the people who are expecting nothing. If they were to reveal nothing important, I doubt that they would have used 2 full pages to advertise this issue’s Sun and Moon content. I have no idea what it will be, but starters, legends or silhouettes of either are a good bet. Sure, they didn’t explicitly mention a “big scoop”, but they used 2 pages instead of a tiny blurb on the corner of a page.

The only thing I liked more in X/Y was the character customization. It felt worse in every way from ORAS apart from that but I’m also very nostalgic for Hoenn so that may influence my opinion.
ORAS I consider as a remake, meaning of course they gonna fix upon what the old versions had plus new features and fix stuff the other Gen 6 games had issues with, X/Y was the first for gen 6 I found it to be very amazing games imo was ORAS was just a little bit lower imo.

I liked how it kept number of new pokemon to a minimum, crowded the routes with dragon pokémon before the second gym, dumbed down the rivals and made them incessantly happy, scaled down the difficulty, and basically walked you through the whole game… maybe I’m being a bit too critical. My fav games were actually gen 4 though

I hope Soon (not calling them S&M..) have a really rich story. Platinum and both Unova games had really great stories that integrated the champions/gym leaders/rivals/villains in nice ways while dealing with complex topics. X&Y fell generally flat on that, other than with AZ and his Floette, imo.
Either way, I’m expecting starter silhouettes, main trainer art, and the two legendaries! Not sure if that’s too much or too little.
Proabably expecting a little too much. In fact, I’m not expecting anything at all. Need to keep hopes low. Especially after the Direct and the whole scandal last Saturday with the Gathering at the Pokemon House episode.

Totally agree. I think we’ll get something similar to Black and White’s first issue where they revealed screenshots of Castelia City and Zorua and Zoroark in battle. Some screenshots at best with no new Pokemon and maybe the revealing of Magearna’s typing and battlefield graphics if we are lucky (Zorua and Zoroark were shown in battle) . Other than that, I really expect little to nothing in this issue of the magazine.

Yes, please, I would most certainly welcome this! I rememeber Hiro (famous insider guy) saying that Megas were mostly introduced to catch up some of the older Pokemon make them competitively useful again… I could be wrong on that statement. He may have not said anything of the sorts.
I want Megas to stay with Gen 6. I’ve been very vocal about the fact that I dislike them to no end. Many of those Megas could have been tweaked slightly and turned into real evolutions, bringing the total number of Gen 6 Pokemon to around 100. But we will most likely be seeing Megas again, so sure, why not…
I agree i felt like megas ruined the chances for some pokemon to gain a evolution you could easily made absol and mawiles a evolution honestly i feel like the originally were evos then they decided on the mega concept and changed them
On the fence if CoroCoro will come tonight or not. It has come on the 13th many times in the recent past. The issue with Magearna came out on the 12th. Heck, there’s even rare times it comes during the daylight hours. Most of the time it comes at around 1 to 3 hours after midnight though. *Crossing fingers* It’s pretty much an “any minute now” type of situation.

I stay up past midnight regularly so I’m used to it even though it’s terrible for my health.
Same. I used to sleep in till 1pm a lot in the past. But now I wake up at around 10am/11am because I’m used to getting little hours of sleep. On average, I usually go to bed between 12am (if I am really tired) to around 3am at the latest.
I have to get up at around 7 AM so I only ever get about 7 hours.
I’m trying to get better though.
Because I don’t have a job, I don’t have a sense of routine or urgency to go to bed some nights. Hopefully, when I get employed again, I’ll have a routine back and get more sleep. I liked having a routine. It was nice.

In the past, however, starters and mascot legendaries were some of the first things to be revealed, so that’s why I’m expecting them soon.

Leaking Corocoro is very arbitrary. I wouldn’t even consider it “leaking” if whoever has the copy is posting about something completely unrelated to Pokemon.
It’s considered leaking, regardless of the content, if information is revealed before April 15th. Pokemon leaks have to be coming soon enough.
