  1. Whelp there we go………no additional info and we’re still kept hanging……..y can’t they just tell us the name of the next game?!?!?!?!?!?! Lol

  2. So the name is combination of “machina” and “gear”, for anyone curious. They did confirm that it’s Mythical, though, which could give credence to the Gen 6.5 situation.

  3. “Azoth is the essential agent of transformation in alchemy. It is the name given by ancient alchemists to Mercury, the animating spirit hidden in all matter that makes transmutation possible.”
So apparently azoth isn’t just a random word with the letters az invented by gamefreak. Anyway this thing about transformation and transmutation makes me wonder if it has anything to do with zygarde’s forms or if it hints that magiana or volcanion have a more powerful form

  4. Something tells me that Az created magiana and that he is actually a master alchemist, that’s why he is immortal and sort of explains how he built the ultimate weapon from x and y. As for why did he created magiana and the azoth kingdom maybe he was just bored idk

  5. So I’m guessing it might be a 6.5 gen and not a 7 gen since the other next gen mons release in movies like Lucario or Zoraok weren’t mythical Pokemon and Magearna is, but correct me if I’m wrong on this.

  6. Wow, was the name change really necessary? I’m gonna keep calling her Magiana, wtf is a Magearna, it’s so much more complicated to say.

    • “ギアル” (i.e. “Giaru”) is the Japanese name of Klink. However, “Giaru” is just the literal romanisation of each character: it is more accurately romanised as “Gear.” Similarly, the “ギア” (gia) in Magiana’s name was likely always intended to sound like the word “Gear.”
Kind of like Serebii (セレビィ) vs Celebi. They’re essentially the same thing, just the “レ” character is literally translated to “re” instead of “le,” but can really go either way.

  7. Ooooh I hope we get megas for Gen 2 and 4 starters. We got Gen 1 and 3 starters at basically the same time. I remember when Coro Coro revealed Archie and I think the starter megas for Swampert and Sceptile and moving told me and I was in the Coca-Cola Museum and I had no service and I couldn’t get it to pull up and almost had a heart attack when Archie was hot. I hope we get fossil megas too and stuff

I still think this is the welcoming of Gen 7.

    • I still believe that the next game (the last of Gen 6) will be the last game to feature Mega Evolution. With that in mind, I think they’ll have a blowout of Gen 2, 4, 5 and 6 Pokemon to wrap up the concept quite nicely. I still believe what Sugimori said about Gen 7 being based on “simplicity” of mechanics and Pokemon design.

      • I still think the next games will continue adding Mega Evolution. Simplicity could mean a return to the bases of Pokemon. Yet, Mega Evolution has become such a huge feature, it would be ridiculous to drop it. They have plenty of Pokemon to make Megas for. Why not add to the basket?

        • I don’t know if you remember my opinions on Mega Evolution back in 2013, but I was never a fan. I thought that it blocked Game Freak from designing actual evolutions for Pokemon. So in a way I think that adding Mega Evolutions to Gen 7 would take Pokemon away from its core concepts. Also, Mega Evolution is the basis of the story for XY and (partially) ORAS, so retreading that ground could be considered unoriginal.

          • I have to disagree with you. I believe that Mega Evolutions add a refresh to older Pokemon. It’s extremely easy to give a Mega Stone to anyone. For example, Pokemon Origins just had Mr. Fuji give Red a Mega Stone without any correlation to X/Y or OR/AS. Yes, the lore of Mega Evolution is tied to X/Y and OR/AS, but it doesn’t stop GameFreak from just giving the items to new trainers. Honestly, it doesn’t have to be story driven at all. What is GameFreak going to do? Just drop all of the previously made Megas and continue. It’s a feature to stay for the whole series.

          • I will say that I understand them for Stage 3 Pokemon and Legendaries. Neither of them were capable of evolving further than their current state, but given a strong bond with their trainer they can reach a new level of potential. Now that makes sense. The part that really irks me is that single and dual-stage Pokemon are getting Mega Evolutions, which means that Game Freak couldn’t make legitimate new evolutions for those Pokemon in the future. It’s inserting a gameplay mechanic where it doesn’t belong, in my opinion. Absol, Sableye, Mawile, Camerupt, etc. are now out of the running for real evolutions because the game has dictated these forms as their “maximum” potential. I don’t know, it just doesn’t sit right with me.

          • We don’t know that. We know the games take place in an alternate universe/dimension. They could easily play on this again for future games.

          • I have to agree with Afarr. You cant just drop a concept completely and never come back to it. I think its a feature to stay.

          • Somewhat like you back when they first came out I was disgusted and angry, but I’ve since warmed up to megas. I think it would be a waste of potential if they stopped making them and I honestly doubt game freak would pull such a move, but I definitely agree standard evolutions should come back in a big way, especially compared to the megas for single-stage pokémon or pokémon like Bannette or Jynx who deserve proper evos. And gen V does kind of need a Gen II to Gen I treatment. Ideally for me new evos and megas would coexist, and I think that would pretty much make everyone happy, but I think gamefreak has decided they won’t tamper with old evo lines anymore other than with megas and maybe if we’re lucky the occasional eeveelution. It’s sad and annoying but Game Freak can be quite stubborn like that.

  8. I still can’t believe how the past week has gone for Pokemon fans. So many people were cynical pre-February 10th, saying that CoroCoro would let fans down. Instead we have Magearna, a new Mythical man-made Pokemon, being featured in this year’s movie and everyone is going nuts. I just hope this isn’t another Munchlax situation where we’re left in the dark for over a year without a game reveal. It’s just hard for me to believe that Pokemon Z would have new Pokemon, but Zygarde’s forms still aren’t in the game either so it makes the most sense for both of these to join together. Who knows, maybe that leak I posted earlier is partially legitimate and we have 70 new Pokemon coming our way?

THE HYPE AND SPECULATION IS BACK IN MOTION!

  9. I believe (slightly) in Generation 6.5, mostly due to the hackers not finding Magerna. The next Pokemon games are still shrouded by a heavy amount of mystery. Zygarde’s New Forms, Magerna, and Volcanion are the driving force. I still think the game will take place in Kalos. Yet, maybe Azoth will be a new region you explore. At this point, I’m going to let the tides of time decide what happens in the future of Pokemon. Let’s just keep on speculating. The next Pokemon games or the future of the series was said to be about “flowers”, so let’s see!

    • This year is already off to a MUCH better start than last year, or even 2014 before it. We have the anniversary of Pokemon and the Super Bowl commercial in the first two months, and now we have a 722nd Pokemon just like that! All of this confusion and interweaving between Gen 6.5 and Gen 7 is extremely confusing, and I think it will stay that way until more information is revealed. So far, “flowers” hasn’t matched with any hints we’ve seen so far. I think the fact that it’s plural says something, since Eternal Flower Floette has a singular flower. Maybe I’m just overthinking that one.

    • Maybe it’ll be Pokémon AZ with AZ’s Floette as the mascot?

Also, if you look at it a certain way, Zygarde’s Complete Forme slightly resembles and A.

    • Remember all the talk about Pokemon Z primarily focusing on the environmental aspects of Pokemon? I truly hope that whatever this new game is, the creators go all out and delve into themes that they would otherwise not under normal circumstances. I mean, with all this heightened attention Pokemon is receiving, you should make sure to attract new customers by making one hell of a game! Maybe this has an alternate timeline and focuses on the Pokemon world falling apart due to a heinous and villainous team’s plan actually succeeding! Who knows! With everything up in the air, I wouldn’t be surprised by what Trollfreak conjures up next.

  10. I just looked back through some information and saw that Victini was the first Gen 5 Mythical Pokemon to be revealed. That was in July 2010. It was being distributed during the first month of the game being released. Is it possible that the same will happen with Magearna, since it was the first to be revealed? I know the chances are slim, but that could happen as soon as this year to promote the movie. Victini did appear in Pokemon the Movie: Black and White. I can’t help but feel that the Mythical Pokemon classification is important here (besides it being event-only, of course).

  11. Pronunciation? Mah-jee-yar-nah or Mah-geer-nah? I personally don’t like hearing the word “gear” in it’s name. It’s not very fitting imo. .-.

  12. Maybe this one is going to be clockwork if you look at the bottom you can see that its going to seal itself and make a ball (obvious) but what about the shield which is in the belt it looks similar to the shield that team plasma used!

  13. “Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Jarvis from Azoth Kingdom, a city of super-machinery where gigantic cogwheels are constantly rotating, has obtained the ultimate invention he has been searching for for so many years. It was the artificial Pokémon Magearna, which was born in the kingdom 500 years ago but since went missing, as well as the unknown power called the “Soul Heart” said to reside inside Magearna. As Jarvis plots to use this power to rule the kingdom, Volcanion was attempting to retrieve Magearna, who got abducted from the Navel Plateau! “Ain’t no way I’ll ever forgive the humans!”
Will Volcanion and Ash manage to work together and save Magearna while linked together? And what is the true power the “Soul Heart” hides? It’s time for the hottest battle in Pokémon history to begin”

Thats more info, i wonder what this Soul Heart is real and if it will be in the real games. Maybe it will since Soul Dew was introduced in the lati@s movie, and in the anime. And even though most things in pokemon movies are fake, this one seems to contain a lot of info. Project Azoth may have something to do artifically creating/altering pokemon and since volcanion hates humans, he might refute this idea. The soul heart could be something that gives artifical things their power. More and more i like the silicon and carbon theory.
