Official Site Updates; Demo Reveals New Mega Evolutions

The official site for Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire has been updated with the details we saw in November’s CoroCoro issue and more!

Mega Steelix & Mega Glalie

Revealed in the demo are two new mega evolutions

Mega Latios & Mega Latias

A trailer of ‘Soar’ in action, ie: ability to fly over Hoenn, can be seen here on the main site.

Mega Pidgeot

Pidgeot Mega Evolves into Mega Pidgeot. The gusts it can whip up with its tough and well-developed wings are powerful enough to smash huge trees.

Upon Mega Evolving, its Sp. Atk gets a great boost. Take good advantage of its zippy Speed stat, and you can pummel opponents in no time flat. Its No Guard Ability means its attack will never miss—nor will attacks used against it. You can be sure of dealing damage even with moves that have low accuracy. – Official Site

Mega Beedrill

Beedrill Mega Evolves into Mega Beedrill. The poison it produces from its four limbs all work instantaneously, yet the poison it emits from its tail is slow-acting. It uses the former to prevent its foes from fleeing, and the latter to deal the finishing blow.

Mega Evolution gives its Attack and Speed stats an explosive boost. Adaptability is an Ability that increases the power of moves of the same type as the user from the standard 150% to 200%. Put it together with this Pokémon’s powerful Attack stat and aim for massive damage! – Official Site

PokéNav Plus

  • DexNav – Can show information about Pokémon in your location, chaining Pokémon encounters can result in finding ones with Hidden Ability and rare moves
  • AreaNav – Map with additional functionality such as trainer information, berry locations, and secret bases
  • BuzzNav – “TV” style blurbs about Hoenn and other players you encounter via StreetPass
  • PlayNav – Allows access to the Player Search System, Super Training, and Pokémon-Amie

  1. We’re having like mini-generations now? The X and Y megas are part of Gen 6.1, I guess? Not being able to have ORAS megas in XY makes it pretty much a different gen

    • no not really! its just like kyurem’s forms not being accessible in black/white! there was no patch to include them in the games, only a patch to make them COMPATIBLE while battling. there probably will be such a patch.

  2. Hmm it seems that we’ll visit southern island before postgame… (the map has, what i’m assuming to be, visited areas highlighted and non-visited areas shaded)
    interesting…

    • I’d rather have really good music that includes trumpets than trumpet solos that coincidentally involved some other instruments.
It makes it sound better. To have other instruments and make it balanced.

      • I know… its just. Hoenn = Trumpets lol. But you are right… they have access to better sounds therefore its gonna sound much smoother.

        • Exactly. 😀
It wasn’t like they weren’t going to put trumpets in there xD Trumpets are needed for a good sound/balanced sound.
Music still sounds nostalgic and very Hoenn-like and very beautiful.

  3. So no patch for X and Y…. Really? Is gf too lazy to add in the megas and primals? They dont even have to add the mega stones in the game! Just make new mega stones tradable to X and Y, and not availible normally without trading! C’mon game freak.

    • Uh… Actually. GameFreak is going to have to put the games into X/Y for it to be traded. If it’s not in the coding. It’s not going to work. As I said, I guess they are just being lazy.

        • they will be compatible with the megas just as BW was compatible with Kurem formes! but you still couldnt get the kyurem forms in BW, right?

          • Yeah, but wouldnt that be a bit unfair during battle. I mean, If you mega evolve a sceptile, and the xy guy doesnt see it, how can he tellif you mega evolved or not? I understand its been like this in other gens, but they have the technology! The last two updates havnt even added anything! Just bug fixes?

          • the MODEL wont be there, im guessing form changing animation WILL be implemented and the mega symbol next to the name only with the regular sceptile model?

          • they might even add the models actually in a patch… just to show they aren’t lazy, and make new mega stones non-tradable so that you can’t obtain the new megas but can see them in online battles? Also, i think for battling purposes, the new megas will HAVE to be at least temporarily loaded onto the game during the battle, to help calculate damage and all, just like a B2W2 patched a BW when engaged in battle

          • They mean no patch that allows OBTAINING the megas and primos im guessing. cause if they dont release ANY patch, there’s no way the games couldnt be compatible, unless ORAS patches XY before the battle.

    • Business strategy. ORAS kind of like a 6 and a halfth generation. It isn’t even a true remake, as even the story changes. So i guess they’re justifying it that way.

      • But people would buy the game either way! Different story, availible pokemon, features, megas! Theres no reason to not update X and Y! They have the technology! Again, the mega stones dont have to able to be found in x and y, just tradable and usable in X and y

      What About the Battle Frontier?

Trainer customization isn’t the only feature that Pokémon fans want to see in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The Battle Frontier, which features a variety of advanced challenges in a theme park-like setting, is another popular feature that has lately been absent from the series. Will it also be missing in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?

When I asked Ohmori, he seemed to consider his words carefully: “All I can really say is that we have quite a lot of content for after players finish the game this time around. We also have a lot of features like contests and secret bases, so right now we’re only really talking about those.”

Ohmori did, however, confirm that move tutors will be in this version, and that certain Pokémon will be able to learn moves they couldn’t learn before. As for the rest of the postgame content, expect an optional quest centered around Mega Rayquaza, plus the usual array of legendary Pokémon and hidden dungeons.
