Mega Rayquaza Confirmed for Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Mega Rayquaza has been confirmed in the ongoing stream for Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire on niconico and in an all-new trailer for the games.

Mega Rayquaza will gain the ability Delta Stream. This Ability protects all Flying Type Pokémon, halving  their flying type weaknesses(such as electric, ice, rock). Delta Stream will also cancel the effects of any abilities that introduce weather to the battle, thanks to the new Strong Winds weather condition it introduces. Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, and Hail will fail if Strong Winds is active.

Mega Rayquaza also gains an exclusive new move: Dragon Ascent. The move has one of the highest power ratings of all Flying-type moves. Dragon Ascent is not only powerful, but looks amazing.

Almost all of Rayquaza’s stats receive a boost when the Pokémon Mega Evolves.

  1. Design-wise . I really like how it’s yellow markings becomes like a whisker. IT literally looks a like a levitating centipede xD

    • No, but I feel like there’s gotta be some way to incorporate the emerald story into these games….maybe after you beat both OR and AS you can link them and unlock a secret play through (much like the keys and challenge mode in B2W2) where for your next play through you get to fight both evil teams and follow the Emerald storyline? 😮 That would be cool

  2. There’s a new elaborate backstory that Serebii posted about the legend and origin of Primal Groudon and Kyogre, it cuts off (intentionally) where Rayquaza makes an appearance. Confirming that Rayquaza stops the fighting? Emerald storyline?

  3. So what about Ice Types? Delta Stream didn’t explain 4x weaknesses

Ehh doesn’t matter, everything breaks if you hit it hard enough

  4. Rayquaza will be one deadly force with that new weather condition: Strong Winds. Stealth Rocks will not be much of a problem for some Flying types either I just realized. It’s so godly like. I can’t wait to see more of him in action. And the official Suigmori artwork! Is that too much to ask for? Lol.

  5. From the official website:

It was a primal age, early in the world’s history… The natural world was overflowing with energy. That energy granted Groudon and Kyogre an overwhelming power. Seeking ever more of that energy for themselves, the two clashed again and again, and their battles cast the people and Pokémon of Hoenn into great danger. Brimming with the overwhelming power granted by the energy of nature, this transformation was named by later people “Primal Reversion.” And the people called their tormentors Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

One Pokémon looked down upon this battle from the sky above. The Pokémon that dances in the heavens: Rayquaza. Rayquaza is venerated by the people of Hoenn as their protector and savior. When Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre had battled for 20 dawns and 20 nights, the world began to lose its natural balance and tilt toward destruction. The people, unable to endure any more, cried out to their mighty savior Rayquaza before a great stone that shone with rainbow brilliance. And a change came upon Rayquaza, weaving in the sky above Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Suffused in brilliant light, its body began to transform visibly. And then…

the part that I put in Bold… is it referencing the Strange Souvenir 0_0
