Mega Rayquaza has been confirmed in the ongoing stream for Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire on niconico and in an all-new trailer for the games.
Mega Rayquaza will gain the ability Delta Stream. This Ability protects all Flying Type Pokémon, halving their flying type weaknesses(such as electric, ice, rock). Delta Stream will also cancel the effects of any abilities that introduce weather to the battle, thanks to the new Strong Winds weather condition it introduces. Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, and Hail will fail if Strong Winds is active.
Mega Rayquaza also gains an exclusive new move: Dragon Ascent. The move has one of the highest power ratings of all Flying-type moves. Dragon Ascent is not only powerful, but looks amazing.
Almost all of Rayquaza’s stats receive a boost when the Pokémon Mega Evolves.
Heavy was right. He hit it first.

What if this new ability shuts down even strong sunlight and strong rain? Hmm…

Mega Rayquaza looks amazing and Dragon Ascent looks epic and i love that his ability protects flying types, that means Raquaza now has normal dragon weaknesses.
Its weaknesses are now only Ice, Fairy, Dragon?

Okay, I take back what I said. Mega Rayquaza is not hideous. I just honestly wasn’t expecting that design choice. Lol. I think I was just as stunned as everyone else.

Dragon Ascent looks like that move that Rayquaza may of been using in the painting at Granite Cave!

I think both Primals look better on terms of design. However I don’t think Mega Rayquaza looks Ugly.
Maybe the design seems like it’s trying to do too much.
But it’s Ray Ray, and Ray Ray is a sexy beast.
You see the move animation and you KNOW that no one’s ever getting that move beside’s rayquaza. It’s made for it!!
It looks like a green Dragon Rush with a different camera angle though…

I was kind of right about a new weather condition called Strong Wind.
OH GOD Dragon Ascent, poor Swampert i don’t think he can Mega evolve anymore.
I love the orange thingies flying the most! and then i like its cool armored mouth, and the glowing lights on its body.
So if I assume correctly, there is two pieces of info here.
Strong Winds weather condition may be the new weather condition that ORAS introduces and is not exclusive to Rayquaza.
Delta Stream = Strong Winds + No Flying Type weaknesses.
So this may imply a new move or ability that introduces Strong Winds weather condition for 5 turns similar to sunny day/rain dance and/or drought/drizzle
I wonder if this is the “new” game mechanic that Morimoto was talking about WAY back.

I have always supported the idea of a new weather condition. Im sure Flying types like Talonflame, Charizard and Pinsir will love to reduce that rock weakness

Interesting on the official site it says Rayquaza is said to Mega Evolve differently to other Pokemon, Yet in the trailer it says Mega Stone available in ORAS
Maybe it mega evolves BEFORE switching in. So you can actually select the mega evolve button before selecting to bring him in. There must be a new mechanic otherwise the demo is kinda pointless imo xD
What if… New weather.

Well, we have to figure out who else can make the windy condition, because obviously we can’t have 2 megas at a time…
I hope M. Rayquaza is the only one. It will be such a broken ability if not.
If Strong Wind is the weather that cuts damage to flying types in half? Well maybe it’s about time? Flying has been shafted like hell by this Stealth Rock and stuff. Maybe there can be Flying-type teams now. Heh heh heh. But we’ll see if Smogon quick-bans this weather coz it makes Talonflame and Char-Y and Mega Pinsir, etc. too good.

TBH i think that was kinda obvious, Gamefreak stated before that Rayquaza was related to mega Evolutions not Primal Reversions.
It wasn’t obvious. Literally everyone here predicted Primal, I was alone in my mega chair
