Confirmation and Team Submissions
Keeping to our promise of bringing our readers smaller, quicker tournaments we’re proud to properly announce our next tournament: The Halloween Tournament 2014. Or the “2spooky4u” tournament. For those who haven’t already guessed, the tournament is themed around Halloween and will take place in the month of October. Seven Pokémon Types will be permitted to take part in the Doubles Format tournament: Ghost, Dark, Psychic, Bug, Fairy, Dragon and Poison.
Sign-ups for this tournament will be open soon (though spaces will be even more limited than they were in PJT14), but we first thought it best to announce the rules for the tournament so readers can decide whether or not they wish to take part. The following rules are modified from the Official VGC Rules, and will likely act as our basic rule set for all future tournaments.
Halloween ‘2spooky4u’ Tournament Rules(Spooky Mountain)
Team Restrictions
Players participating in the tournament are only permitted to use Pokémon that are considered legal for the tournament. Any players found using teams that do not adhere to the restrictions set out will be dealt with on a case-by-case situation. It is the individual’s responsibility to ensure their team is tournament legal.
Illegal Manipulation of Pokémon
Pokémon or items that have been created or modified using external devices are forbidden from the tournament. Any player found using modified Pokémon or items will be disqualified. As mentioned previously it is your own responsibility to ensure you are using legal Pokémon within the tournament.
We have the right to run checks on the teams of players at any time during the tournament. Failure to pass these checks will result in instant disqualification from the tournament.
Naming of Pokémon and Trainer
It’s common courtesy that players do not name their in-game character or party members obscenely.
Format Style – Double Battle
Battles within the Halloween 2014 Tournament will use the Doubles Flat Rules Battle Format. This format requires player to select four Pokémon from their party of six to use in battle. A battle is played until all four of your opponent’s Pokémon have been made to faint.
Battle Format
The following restrictions are also in place for this tournament and should be adhered to:
- Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the only games to be used in order to compete in the tournament
- All Pokémon must be legitimately obtainable in Pokémon X & Y. We are allowing transferring of Pokémon from older games through Poké Transporter
- Pokémon are allowed to Mega Evolve
- Any Pokémon used by players that are above Level 50 will be lowered to Level 50
- Pokémon with Hidden Abilities are permitted for entry
Team Construction
- No two Pokémon can share the same Pokédex number
- No two Pokémon can hold the same held item
- Two or more Pokémon cannot have the same nickname in a team
- Pokémon cannot be nicknamed using the name of another Pokémon. (For example, naming a Sewaddle “Snover”)
- Pokémon may only use moves that have been learned through one of the following methods:
- Through level up
- Via TM of HM
- As an Egg Move
- From a character in a game
- As a move known by a Pokémon from an official event
- The following Pokémon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion. Mega Latias and Mega Latios are also banned.
- Pokemon that do not have the following types as their type 1 or type 2:Ghost, Dark, Psychic, Bug, Fairy, Dragon and Poison

The above are all basic rules for this tournament, and should allow players to begin creating teams soon and consider whether or not they wish to take part. Sign-ups will be opened in the coming days and places awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
With this tournament we will be enforcing much stricter time constraints, and anyone who fails to meet them will be removed from the tournament. As we did with PJT14, expect frequent updates on this tournament as well as future Q&A sessions for everyone to take part in. Don’t forget to stay tuned for further Closing PJT14 posts!

Clever strategies are a lot harder to pull off in doubles. I’ve been trying a few in doubles on showdown, and people come up with some crazy shit.
The strongest play styles in doubles is Trick Room in my opinion.
Doubles are fun but much more difficult.

Lol well when Trainer Shiny Value was first discovered, I didn’t believe in it and I wanted to test it myself.
Someone on reddit was telling everyone their TSV if they needed it, and I found out mine was 1893.
So I saw someone saying “I have a Chespin egg with SV 1893 that I need hatched and returned” and I told the guy I will hatch it for him and return it. I’m like.. pfft this thing doesn’t work lets test it out. I hatched the egg and it hatched shiny for me. It was my first shiny in XY (before I started breeding etc) so I turned my game off and deleted my reddit account lmao.
I tried to rejoin and when I posted my fc it said my fc was banned and I couldn’t rejoin with that fc :/
And Yes I still have his 6iv shiny chespin inside of my bank storage XD

Surskit is too OP to be a wild Pokemon, Primal Groudon however would be more appropriate, we have to consider that new players are coming from Pokemon X and Y and putting powerful Pokemon like Surskit or Zigzagoon in the wild could make the game too difficult for them.

But what about a Shoal Cave side Story with Mega Walrein.
Primal/Mega rayquaza at the dark cloud thing + Maybe secret to mega evolution there (?, Doubt it will happen)
Yeah. I think rayquaza will probably be saved for main plot relevance. Too iconic to be degraded to a demo

I would think it would be a Pokemon related to that area. What if it’s a pokemon related to Shoal Cave? Maybe Mega Deoxys or Jirachi? Probably Metagrossite from Troll freak.
I think we’re gonna have the ability to control our choice of character and one of three starters, as we play a short sidequest that has no relevance to the main story at all when it releases. We will be able to encounter Pokemon and battle some of the team Admins, and at the end of the demo, we are able to mega evolve a certain Pokemon, where the demo will stop and self delete itself from your system and you can’t redownload it, you have to wait until November for ORAS.
You were totally spot on until you said it will be deleted lol. They said we can play the game every day up until release unlocking new sequences & special occurrences the more we play

Over on Gamefaqs everyone is speculating Mega Jirachi will be the Poke given to us in the demo because on the french ORAS site, the text steven says whilst he’s standing in front of the space centre. is something like ‘Help me save that pokemon from the bad guys’ so this Pokemon’s relevance is affiliated with the space center. Maybe its a Mega Deoxys or a Mega Beeheeyem…
