  1. Just when I think they can’t do better than the 3DS, and the next leap forward is a 4DS, which would come years later, they come and show an upgraded 3DS! It’s everything I dreamed in a hand-held too! FMLFMLFMLFMLFMLFMLFML

  2. I just realized. This new 3DS will most likely be powerful enough to run Pokemon’s overworld in 3D. Y’know what that means, old 3DSs only have 3D battles and the whole game will be in 3D for the new 3DS. 3D Hoenn..

  3. I guess I’ll be getting the smaller model “new 3DS”, since I gave my old smaller model to my friend. I can’t believe it though.

  4. The most popular franchises will remain on ‘old’ 3DS, mosltly due to the install base. I reckon most new games can take advantage of it like BW did, with having extra options when using the N3DS, like having access to the extra shoulder buttons. N3DS exclusive games will most likely be reserved to more ‘hardcore’ games that have a real need for the extra horsepower, like the new Xenoblade.

  5. I love how people are finding excuses not to buy it, although this is clearly targeted at people who had some gripes with the old model. Don’t buy it if you don’t want it, and if you can’t afford it, your older stuff won’t get worse.

      • N3ds games aren’t going be all the games after the system released they are going to make games that use the power and sources the N3ds and will give games that are on all 3ds systems exclusives features that N3ds can handle that others one cant

      • But what if they do? They can’t support older stuff indefinitely, that’s the way it’s always been done. But I don’t reckon they will pull the plug on the old model immediately. Stuff that comes out on N3DS alone would never be able to release on old 3DS anyway (like the Xenoblade port, it still looks shit on the new 3DS)

        • Yes but didn’t they also say during the direct that they would be releasing an add on control stick for the 3DS to help with the camera angles?
And the 3DS has been doing so good lately, pulling this out of nowhere, I doubt they would make many N3DS Exclusive games.

          • 3DS sales have collapsed though, compared to last year. It’s not doing badly, but not good either. Nintendo needs this new model to entice new customers that feel like the old 3DS was too slow and cumbersome in use.

  6. The way I see it, If you already own a 3DS, it’s not worth it but if you want it, go for it. If you don’t own one yet and want a handheld, it’s a no-brainer, go for the new 3DS (given that you can afford it) it’s a great time to buy one. This is most probably the last update to the 3DS line before the next generation of handhelds, so if you want to get into this generation, now’s the perfect time.
