Jungle Funnies #7: Link Goes HD

Zach and I both agreed from the beginning that Jungle Funnies wasn’t going to solely focus on Pokémon. Almost everyone here is a Nintendo fan and probably also a gamer so occasionally he’ll touch on issues outside our Pokéverse 🙂 Today is the first such comic and looks at the slight disappointment some Zelda and Nintendo fans had with what was revealed for Zelda’s HD foray…

Would you like to see more Nintendo or game related comics? Or stick with Pokémon primarily? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Pokemon Platinum Plot Rating:
    – Great underlying message with many religious and of course, scientific factors at play
    – Sophisticated plot structure
    – Memorable characters, settings, and Main Villain; Cyrus
    – Complex climax but overall poor quality “falling action”
    – Elongated story with sub-par influence to the climax
    – Sub par executed story but nothing too memorable
    – Fleshed out Champion
    – Poorly done antagonists

I would rate it “A” for trying, and B+ for execution.

    • I’d rate it a C- for the pure fact that after a period of time I just got bored with it. And for me, it was pretty hard to level up, but maybe that’s my own fault.
For me, the story just wasn’t interesting enough, at least not like Black and White was. Then again, this is my opinion. Take it or leave it.

  2. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 Plot Rating:
    – Outstanding underlying message that even brings up the ethical side of Pokemon
    – Fleshed out story, seems as if it were a continuation of Black and White from the League
    – Sub par villains who are nothing more than mere tools for Ghetsis
    – Amazing and well executed Main Villain; Ghetsis
    – Memorable characters, settings, and villains
    – Paced story line but greatly done
    – An almost bland climax but saved by N
    – Background telling of N’s past

Overall, I would rate it “A” for trying and A- for execution.

  3. Pokemon emerald plot rating:
-Only game with two evil teams
    -Great climax
    -Battles are really hard
    -Many amazing Rival encounters
-Champion got little – no development (wallace)
    -Great message
    -Fun gym leader battles
    -Fun gym interiors
-Wally didnt get too much development but still got some
    -May

I’d give it a “A+” for effort, since it was the first game for the legendaries to play a part in the evil teams plan, and “A-” for execution

  4. Pokemon Black and White brought out the best in Pokemon. From the differing point of views, the facade of Ghetsis, the ethical issues commonly addressed, the grunts whose entity was to be used as mere tools by Ghetsis, their roles, their dreams, and their goals, it was because these things and many more that made Black and White feel like a real adventure and story. Unlike previous generations, the grunts had a purpose and they were willing to die for their goals. Your rivals, each one of the two had a purpose and gave you their views on the Pokemon World and gave you an insight to the Real World. Cheren idealized his beliefs based on his knowledge and Bianca, although she was not a gifted trainer, sought out to find her goal in life. The gym leaders all opposed the “liberation idea” but some, like Iris also had second thoughts, giving us a contradiction of beliefs from the beginning. One of the many bread and butter of the story was N; a green-haired trainer capable of hearing and conversing with Pokemon. He was fleshed out and became a symbol to all. Ghetsis merely used him for his own purposes and because of this, N grew as a person before our eyes. Even the NPC’s played a role! Their actions, experiences, and thoughts on the idea of liberation and Team Plasma gave us an idea of how much Team Plasma’s influence really was! I cannot express enough how amazing and well executed the Black and White “novel” was! Perfection in the Pokemon sense!

  5. Where to start? Pokemon X and Y, story-wise seemed as if it were a drawback from the epic tales of Black and White. Although the story possessed moments of glory and satisfaction, their goals although defined were poorly executed. The characters, villains, and rivals were barely fleshed, seeming to only be there as props rather than characters. The underlying message of beauty was the bread and butter of X and Y but, like the other moments, it was poorly executed. AZ, a mysterious and immortal giant was the truly fleshed out character although his part in the game only lasted minutes compared to the main characters and villains. The antagonists were disappointing and unlike Plasma grunts, had zero affiliation with their goal. Moments of highlight were over exaggerated and moments of sadness were over exemplified, no sense of balance. The music did not help as it sounded like a cacophony of needless noise. AZ and his Floette to this day remain the only fleshed out characters although they received minimal time in-game. X and Y’s characters are the definition of Twilight excluding AZ and his Floette.

    • Say what?
Gen 6’s music was the best. It actually sounded like it was actually made in person, which might have happened. And the music fit the cities and moments really well.
      It’s my opinion however :3

  6. All right Pokejunglers. Percy and I are working on our very own Hunger Games story, as the 4th book in the series.

No, no one else may join us in creating the book YET. Maybe soon though 😀

Since there is enough spam on PJN at the moment, we have compiled a poll with 4 names that we think would be good for the book. But we would like you guys to decide 😀

Here’s the link to the poll:

  7. Random comment-
For those who don’t know me:
I’m CharizardKing, but people call me Zardy. Even though it clearly says Charizard in my username, my favorite pokemon is Skarmory. I am 13 and have played pokemon since 5 years old. I love the franchise along with music and sports. I am an intense competitive player and people say I am really good but I don’t agree. There’s just one thing about me that people don’t like. I ask question A LOT.
