Dae asks: Fan fiction

Dae was calmly sitting behind his desk on this sunny Spring day. What article shall I write next, he thought to himself. Oh, I know, and he opened WordPress and clicked on New Article. From there he wrote: Dae was  calmly sitting…

Let’s quit this recursion, shall we? I doubt my writing is even good enough to make something better than your run-of-the-mill fanfic, so I won’t even bother.

But back on topic: fan fiction. Some love it, some hate, some write themselves and others wish it to burn in hell. You have the story padding type, the type of questionable content and those that never should fall into a kid’s hands. But I really want your opinion on it. Do you write yourselves, and if so, would you mind to share it with us? And if you read, what are some of your favorites, and what are some examples that should be put on the wall-of-shame for setting the genre in a bad light? Keep examples PG-13, or else your post will be punitively deleted and I might temporarily ban if you if I’m in a bad mood.

If I can find the time next week I’ll write my entry in Meet the team, a new series where you can get to know every team member a bit more personal. In the meantime, be nice to each other in the comments, quit mentioning the device and quit asking if someone’s there. It will become obvious if someone’s there when they reply to you.

  1. Soo, what’s everyone’s opinion of the 3D models on showdown? I wanted to get someone’s opinion on them, since i cant check them out for myself. A decent chunk of people i’ve seen are in favor of bringing the 2D models back

    • They look great, well the ones opposing you. The ones that are yours are terribly elongated which make the pixels show. The lag from time to time is UNBEARABLE. It’s like your computer is Froze(n) and there’s nothing you can do except lose or win because you or the opponent set the timer first. The lags are caused by the models and all of the battles going on. Lots of people have lost battles unfairly because of this lag including me. So honestly, I would like them to bring back the 2D sprites instead of having these problems.

        • They look nice and all but they look weird with a 2D background. The 2D sprites looked pretty bad but they don’t cause lag so I prefer them. Is Showdown really supposed to be working on looks instead of working on performance?

          • Looks like it, but Pokebattle outclasses PS in looks and also likely in community as well, so i dont see what they’re really trying to improve, as Pokebattle, from what ive seen, outclasees PO and PS in every way

  4. I have returned from my drive. xD I took @BigGuyI:disqus ‘s advice and ran over as many pedestrians as possible. I also went to barnes and noble and picked up a copy of Fight Club for my english assignment. Can’t wait to read the book. The chapters are so short.

  5. Gosh, I wish I had more time over the weekend to play all the games I love to play. Teaches me to get homework done more quickly and efficiently, away from the computer, so as I can maximize my free time.

  6. I’m going on an internet mission to collect links to products and games that I am interested in buying for my OCD List of Gaming. It’s quite a lot of work to be obsessive.

      • I’m using the Notes application on my computer so I can have them available on all my devices, and they can all be easily organized. Thanks for the suggestion though!

          • Uhm…Role-playing, Adventure, Action…creative stuff? Pokemon, Anything and everything Nintendo, Valve games, LittleBigPlanet, the occasional shooter (Uncharted being one of them). That’s it. XD

          • I would recommend: Ni no Kuni i would say it’s RPG and Adventure. It is a Studio Ghibli (People who made Totoro) game for the Ps3. Action Wise. Devil May Cry, God of War and the Batman games are great.
If you like Survival Horror, which you did not list.xD There is Silent Hill which is a town based on the psychological aspect of a deceased girl named Alessa. So every monster in the game represents something. Dead Space is good as well. Resident Evil (The First Four are good). 5 and 6 are alright. Action Orientated.

          • I have heard great things about Ni no Kuni, I am definitely interested in that. Also, Batman Arkham Asylum, City, and Origins.

          • There is a demo that you can try before buying the game. It’s around $20 now. The Arkham games are awesome if you’re a DC fan.

          • I am a fan of the Marvel and DC characters, although I am not very involved in the culture of the comics at all. The movies are amazing though.

          • Personal opinion, DC has better comics. I loved the Blackest Night comic arc which is basically DC Zombies + Green Lantern

          • Still haven’t played .-. I do realize that i mentioned more Console games.xD For the 3DS: Resident Evil Revelations was awesome and creepy, Bravely Default, Fire Emblem Awakening, and the first Adventure Time game were good.

  7. I just had a thought, a dangerous and insanity fueled idea
