Dae asks: Fan fiction

Dae was calmly sitting behind his desk on this sunny Spring day. What article shall I write next, he thought to himself. Oh, I know, and he opened WordPress and clicked on New Article. From there he wrote: Dae was  calmly sitting…

Let’s quit this recursion, shall we? I doubt my writing is even good enough to make something better than your run-of-the-mill fanfic, so I won’t even bother.

But back on topic: fan fiction. Some love it, some hate, some write themselves and others wish it to burn in hell. You have the story padding type, the type of questionable content and those that never should fall into a kid’s hands. But I really want your opinion on it. Do you write yourselves, and if so, would you mind to share it with us? And if you read, what are some of your favorites, and what are some examples that should be put on the wall-of-shame for setting the genre in a bad light? Keep examples PG-13, or else your post will be punitively deleted and I might temporarily ban if you if I’m in a bad mood.

If I can find the time next week I’ll write my entry in Meet the team, a new series where you can get to know every team member a bit more personal. In the meantime, be nice to each other in the comments, quit mentioning the device and quit asking if someone’s there. It will become obvious if someone’s there when they reply to you.

  1. Fan fics are like an almost fully loaded revolver; very occasionally you get lucky and find a good one but the next 5 are disasters waiting to happen

  2. You have met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?

You shouldn’t have made an article on Fan Fiction. It is a disturbing world to visit.

  3. Fan fictions are sort of a meh thing to me.. And most of the fanfics I see are about ships and se..yeah. So, I tend to keep away from them haha

  4. Serialised fanfics can be really good…. i’ve read a few good ones. I tend to steer clear of the romance/shipping fanfics…they can be slightly awkward if not unbearable to read. As for writing my own i have never put pen to paper but i have at times found myself coming up with an anime/manga style version of my playthroughs of Pokemon games as im playing them.

Fanfics are okay. I’ve never read any Pokémon fan fictions myself, but I’ve heard about them.
When I was a lot younger (11/12), I saw these videos about plush-doll shows about the Mario series. At that age I found them to be quite amusing, so I ended up writing my own comic book and even tried to make a plush show myself. I wrote scripts, invented characters and I called it “The Plushroom Kingdom”. Eventually, I gave up on the idea because of the large amounts of money (£30+) needed to purchase the plush dolls. I still think about what it would’ve been like if I had continued with the project.

Maybe one day I might go back to it, highly unlikely but it is still possible.

  6. So..about the gym leaders..
    I think that that the amount of pokemon should go like this..: 2 (lvl 10-15), 3 (lvl 20-25), 4 (lvl 30-35), 5 (lvl 40-45), 6 (lvl 50-55), 6 (lvl 60-65), 6 (lvl 70-75) , 6 (lvl 80-85) (the e4 could have all 90-95, and the champion lvl 95-100)

And the order of leaders should go something like: Dragon, Fairy, Steel, Poison, Dark, Fire, Ghost, Water
