Could Pokémon come to iOS & Android?

Nintendo reported their third straight loss to investors, and it seems as though they may be willing to seek new ways to make profit.

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, said he would continue to run the company and added, “We are thinking about a new business structure. Given the expansion of smart devices, we are naturally studying how smart devices can be used to grow the game-player business. It’s not as simple as enabling Mario to move on a smartphone.”

As iOS and Android devices have gained market traction and improved hardware, they’ve been seen as direct competitors to Nintendo’s handheld consoles. Mobile gaming applications often cost only a couple of dollars, much less than traditional handheld games.

The Pokémon Company has released some apps for mobile devices, including their 3D Pokédex and a Japan-exclusive simple rhythm game which tied into the trading card game, but they have never released other games.

We’ll have to watch Nintendo’s strategies closely. Would you like to see Mario, Zelda or Pokémon on your phone or tablet?

  1. An OCD story: I restarted all of my 100% completed Zelda games (5 or 6 maybe) because the player character was named Kevin instead of Link.

  2. ‎I just realized, what if the battle maison is a part of the kalos frontier and the rest will be introduced in the sequels like emerald and platinum

  3. Everyone’s talking about how difficult Wittney was, and I’m just sitting here wondering if Cynthia will come back in the games/anime.

  4. What do you guys think about the Wii U situation? I’m predicting a very profitable year in 2014, with many great games, such as Smash Bros. and many more, along with the Zelda U announcement this June.
