Nintendo reported their third straight loss to investors, and it seems as though they may be willing to seek new ways to make profit.
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, said he would continue to run the company and added, “We are thinking about a new business structure. Given the expansion of smart devices, we are naturally studying how smart devices can be used to grow the game-player business. It’s not as simple as enabling Mario to move on a smartphone.”
As iOS and Android devices have gained market traction and improved hardware, they’ve been seen as direct competitors to Nintendo’s handheld consoles. Mobile gaming applications often cost only a couple of dollars, much less than traditional handheld games.
The Pokémon Company has released some apps for mobile devices, including their 3D Pokédex and a Japan-exclusive simple rhythm game which tied into the trading card game, but they have never released other games.
We’ll have to watch Nintendo’s strategies closely. Would you like to see Mario, Zelda or Pokémon on your phone or tablet?

Personally heres how i think nintendo should things next;
1. keep the wiiu going regardless throughout the console generation. be more vocal about upcoming games rather than just teasing us (ocasional teases are fine)
2. Stick to the handheld only for the first half next console generation. the 3ds or a new handheld only means profit for nintendo as well as much less competition. plus games will come out the wazoo
3. Suddenly announce announce a new home console in midst of the next console gen after the current one that would have extreme amounts of focus and detail on.
