Although I’m covering this news story, it’s by popular demand. I don’t believe any of this and I highly recommend that you do not either.
The site DualPixels (which has since crashed) claimed to have gotten “information” from a leaker about Generation VII. They claim:
- Two new games are codenamed Pokémon Plus & Pokémon Minus, could be final
- The battle system is going to be re-worked completely and simplified
- New region is based on Southeast Asia, may have islands
- GameFreak is trying many new ideas out that they’ve been holding onto
- “Three new starters with no names: Water evolves into Water/Steel and is a squat, teardrop shaped humanoid that has a jar filled with on its head as it evolves it grows taller and the jar bigger until it needs another set of arms to hold it on it’s head. Fire evolves into Fire/Fairy and is a tiny cute goat with fire blowing out of its horns, it’s horns and look evolves more menacing until it has curly ram like horns and a motorcycle hot-rod-like look. Grass evolves into a Grass/Electric and starts with a leap for a face with a nubby root as a body and evolves until it grows into an electric producing palm tree with each flower petal having a different face.”
- “The main legendary for Pokemon Plus is a Shi Foo Lion-looking Psychic/Ground-type that has multiple faces, the Pokemon Minus legendary is a Ghost/Fairy type that has two dashes for eyes and is a hurricane-like appendages with many arms and hands.”
- “The new “Team” villains are described as a bunch of “Sohei Zelots”-types who have discovered the player’s best friend as a reincarnation of a special type of person who only is alive every 100 years. They believe the old system where people were given a Pokemon egg and they stick to that Pokemon until they die and who’s function in society dictate what role that person is. They are against the “modern” trend of Pokemon Trainers and capturing multiple Pokemon and are making a holy pilgrimage to evoke the old Legendaries to turn everything back to normal. They keep the player away from their friend, saying the special one (who can do amazing things like mega evolve Pokemon without the use of a mega ring) only love is that of Pokemon and not people. It is planned to be reveal later that for the special one to fulfill their role in society they must be mortally sacrificed to awaken the legendaries.”

X and Y was a big jump from the color based names of the series, but now + and – ??? Nonsense. The ideas for the starters always followed a pattern. Fire: Animals from chinese mythology (all from horoscope except the cyndaquil and its evolutions), Water: amphibious animals, Grass: extinct creatures (dinossaur, ancient mammals, etc)
Cyndaquil could have been extrapolated as a rat.

It just seems strange that this person has so much info about these games when Pokemon XY has just been released. I know that GF could have been working on it during Pokemon XY but this is a little too specific. In an interview I guess it was stated from Sugi, the main Pokemon designer and artist, has said they are just going to make more simple and typings more unvaried in terms of design. Like Gen. 1. RocketClauncher found this info a little while back, so don’t base my full word on it. 🙂

Sounds too weird. And the legendaries don’t make sense with the titles. Also, the new generation has JUST launched, i severely doubt that Ken Sugimori had enough time to even rework these supposed ideas that were held onto.

They have started Gen. 7 designs. But these are not what they said they have started on.
You’d be surprised. Honestly I think they have teams for each game. For example. Work on Gen A, reach a certain point, start writing ideas for the next game.

Like I said before, don’t believe these rumors. I know that it was confirmed fake, but be realistic in that, there’s no possible way all that information leaked before even the announcement of the game. Plus, we’re only 3 months removed from X and Y. It’ll be a while. It’s definitely cool to think about, but I really like Dae’s point that Pokemon shouldn’t transform itself into an annual franchise.
Seeing as they are making Gen. 7 ideas already, I wonder if it is unintentional to release games annually. But 3 months and we already get stupid rumors? Pfft >.>

That long list of rumors a while back that we claimed was fake did, in fact, include Dedenne and Bunnelby if I recall.
I think you’re thinking of Hawlucha, Greninja, and the only 70 Pokemon, which really nobody wanted to believe (and nobody still wants to believe it Gen 6.5 for life!)

GameFreak ALWAYS has new designs waiting around to be made. Some Pokemon designs way back from Gen 1 became new Pokemon as recent as Gen 5.
well XY were announced 3 months after B2W2 came out, and a main game has been released every year since 2009. The fact we only got 69 new Pokemon this gen is odd, and Masuda did say he wanted the next gen to be more “simplified”… so talk of Gen 7 isn’t shocking to me. But the rumors are most likely fake either way. I love the names Plus and Minus though.
I’m still awaiting a version Z/Zero this year, with maybe RS remakes next year.

Well we have to consider the fact that there is not much room left for innovation, and simplification could be their way of making the new games exciting. Still calling BS.
I don’t know how they could make the battling system more simple, it’s just choosing an attack and KOing opponents. Unless they mean revamping abilities and removing redundant ones (Magic Guard/Magic Bounce).
I could see them revamping the system. It gets frustrating. I mean they’ve already made it easier to pass ivs, abilities, etc.
This may be a jump, but…moving Pokemon around with the Circle Pad and using A, B, X or Y for the four attacks? I always thought that would be cool, like PokePark.

Yeah, it has the side effect that average players can have a team 5IV’s with some skill, but slightly more dedicated ones can have a box or more of 5IV’s to make different teams. It still rewards dedication.
Magic Guard and Magic Bounce aren’t the same thing. Magic Guard prevents indirect damage (from poison, entry hazards, etc.), and Magic Bounce reflects certain moves.

Changing IVs and EVs to like Generation one, taking out all moves that don’t deal damage, taking out added effects, there is no special, all pokemons base stats are all 80, there is no natures, all moves base power is 60…..
If they did that, then no transferring from gen 6 to 7
