When I’m on the internet reading stuff about Pokémon, nearly the only thing I see are people screaming for Ruby and Sapphire remakes. There have been two remakes before, and it isn’t a far of a stretch that Ruby and Sapphire will see a glorified version for 3DS, too. They where both great games, with the best crafted region the games have ever seen. I can’t hardly wait myself for the games to release. But please Gamefreak, not this year.
Stop this annualisation of the franchise. Five games in the mainline series have been released in the past five years in the US. Annualisation is what is killing COD, it is what made Battlefield 4 such a hot mess and it might make the consumer grow tired of Assassins Creed too. It makes you rush out to release a game that year, just to make a quick buck, instead of wanting to make an actual good game. It makes you run out of ideas quickly. And you try to circumvent that by putting in ideas sparingly. You don’t want to make this one game the best, because you want the next one to sell.
Pokémon Black and White 2 and Pokémon X and Y are perfect examples of this. BW2 was just a recycled BW1 with a worse story. XY showed lots of potential but eventually fell short. Where’s the endgame? What is going on with that frame rate? I can understand you wanted to rush the game to save the 3DS, but the 3DS doesn’t need to be saved anymore.
Just take your time this installment. Try to craft the best game you can. Forget all this moneymaking shenanigans, and listen to Nintendo’s vision about games. “Make the best game you can, and it will sell by itself.” Make people love Pokémon again. I can take two disappointments, even three, but I seriously begin to doubt everything after four and will likely quit after five. And I might not be the only one.
I can wait an extra year to play the remakes. The same goes for XY2 and certainly for XY3. The 3DS’ life may not be that long anymore, but there’s no need to rush out to bring your ‘vision’ to the console if there’s no way you can completely fulfill it.
Pokémon doesn’t deserve to be milked out. Pokémon should maintain the quality of its livelong existence. Video games should be art, not a way of printing boatloads of money.

I actually agree very much with this. No matter how much I want the Hoenn remakes I am not overly fond of yearly releases. I think the game developers should take their time and not rush things. Also this gives them a chance to add new features, make better updates…and overall a better game…at least in my opinion
Like I said below, what if they had been working on these games for a while, like since 2011.
Even if these games are not released this year, I want them to be announced this year, maybe in March.
I want some CUNFURRRMation!!!!
is it bad that i would love them to be announced this month? just for the hell of it and give people that love Hoenn (and especially the ones that started in Hoenn like myself and feel like it’s home to them), something to look forward to. Not sure if you know my whole story with Hoenn, but if you did, you’d understand why I’d feel blessed by getting Hoenn games on the 3DS and that look like XY.
I know most people want the confirmation as soon as possible, but I’m not that patient. I’d be happy if they announced the game 6 months before release, not 10. If it’s announced this month, it better be released this summer.
I can understand that. If they were announced this month, I would honestly want them as soon as possible to be honest. But, really, just knowing that they’re coming is good enough for me as long as it’s not an ungodly waiting period. (X and Y was barely tolerable)
I’m still waiting for a Pokémon Ranger sequel…
Still waiting for a destroyed touch screen?
I actually agree with this article! The continuous rush of Pokemon games is what prevents me from getting everything I can out of each game. For me, playing a Pokemon game is just finishing the story. I’m not a competitive player but I could be if I could just do a first playthrough of the game for story then a second playthrough for building my teams. I would need a lot of time to do this since I don’t eat, breathe and sleep Pokemon and I actually have other things to do! So, as Dae says, take a year off GameFreak. Let me fully appreciate your current games before you let me enjoy more.
Gooood morning pokejungle!
Random complaint:
The current poll fails to mention it’s a yearly fee => approximately 42 cents a month. Damn that’s cheap
Omg I just caught a shiny Pikachu! 😀
What’s its color?
Darker yellow
Refresh
Caught one in friend safari shiny holding light ball

On the other note a creative shiny is graveler, ITS GOLD. If I ever get one imma call it gold digger

*thinks “oh hey let’s get back to filling my pokedex*
*opens ds realises I was playing MH3U*
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
MH3U?
Monster hunter tri ultimate, it’s one the best games but no one really knows about it, it has a crap tons of hours of gameplay(more than it takes to finish skyrim 100% mainly due to the unfair reward system XD) and I’m loving it,
364:47 hours of gameplay and I still haven’t finished it
Have to test my new team in the Maison.
Yay.
Hip hip, hooray……
Yipeee….zzzzz
When I read the title I thought you were saying that you didn’t want Hoenn games this year and I was like yes! because, and this is only my opinion, but I found the Hoenn region to be quite a disappointment. The evil team was bad and more than 1/3 of the region was water. Also I’ve noticed that other than the Kanto, Hoenn no longer has any Pokemon exclusive to it’s region. Registeel, Regice and Regirock were Hoenn’s last exclusive Pokemon until BW2 where they were finally obtainable.
When you carefully look at Pokemon X & Y and think about it, you can see that the chance for Hoenn remakes are very unlikely. First off is the mention of a facility by a backpacker in a hotel then a city and then a Pokemon league Champion. This could be reference to any region but as Hoenn seems to need a remake, people interpreted this as evidence as a Hoenn remake until the backpacker himself says this before giving you the strange souvenir,” Where is it you ask? Well, I can tell you that it’s not Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh or even Unova!”. This easily shoots the chance of Hoenn remakes in the head but I’ll go on.
Another thing that puts the nail in the coffin for Hoenn is the Strange Souvenir itself. There is no existing Pokemon that look remotely like the Strange Souvenir and this promotes the reality of an upcoming new region instead of Hoenn.
Now this is just my theory. As everyone has noticed, only 69 Pokemon and 25 Mega Evolutions (27 if you included Latias and Latios’ unreleased Mega Evolutions). Johto only released 100 Pokemon but with Mega Evolutions and new Pokemon combined, Kalos only released 94. The new Pokemon count is really small and but this would allow for another small number of new Pokemon to be released in the new region, thus making the new region as interesting as Kalos.
There is also the possibility of a XY2/ Pokemon Z because excluding HGSS and FRLG, every Pokemon generation has had a sequel game and as people have said, X & Y felt a bit empty to them a XY2/ Pokemon Z could easily fix this. The only annoying thing I found with the games was that I couldn’t unequip the roller skates so I had to use the D-pad if I simply wanted to run or I had to use the roller skates.
So the only real possibilities for a 2014 Pokemon 3DS game is the 7th Generation of Pokemon or XY2/ Pokemon Z. So which one would you prefer?
The reason some people like Hoenn in the first place is the water. Also, everyone knows the Strange Souvenir is not a hint to Hoenn. But I do agree that the Hoenn evil teams suck. And I hope there will be an X/Y2 where there are more Pokemon and/or more Megas.
If gamefreak start releasing incomplete pokemon games just to make more money in 3rd installments or start releasing the exact same game just with a better post game for $60, I’ll quit pokemon
That’s just it! Pokemon X & Y wasn’t incomplete! It left a few things mysterious so fans could speculate about them for the next game/s because other Pokemon haven’t done that ever. The sequel of Pokemon games evolve and improve on the faults of the first games and make the region itself better, not just add a better post game and in Pokemon X & Y, you didn’t really need a post game in my opinion because Nintendo was kind enough to improve the time needed to breed shinies, ev train, get Pokemon with perfect ivs, etc. So you don’t get too bored doing it and besides, it you do get bored, there are so many great 3ds games out at the moment like Fire Emblem Awakening and Bravely Default.
The only argument I disagree with is saying 1/3 of Hoenn being water is a bad thing, I’m sorry but this is complete garbage and I’m sure lots of people of agree. Some people liked the change in scenery that Hoenn provided, including myself. To be fair I was actually disappointed in DP when the only compulsory surfing route was a short stretch to get to Victory Road
All your other points are valid and fair though.
Yours is actually the best and kindest reply to my comment so, thank you. I’m not arguing with you but I doubt remakes will become mainstream maybe 1 remade generation every 3 years because there isn’t much to remake other than Hoenn and maybe Sinnoh. What I didn’t I include in my previous comment was that I believe that Hoenn will receive a remake in 2015/2016. The reason I believe that Hoenn won’t receive a remake during 2014 is because of all the Gen 7 hints.
P.S. I actually really liked the Sinnoh region but it might just be because of these Pokemon:
Empoleon, Luxray, Garchomp, Lucario, Electivire, Togekiss, Gallade, Rotom, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina (both forms) and Darkrai.
And I also liked the Sinnoh region because it included a different dimension in Pokemon Platinum in which you could catch Giratina which was quite cool.
Sinnoh was a good region and all but…really all I like from it is Cynthia and some of the pokemon. The lay out of the region…not so much. All in all though, it is a good Gen. I won’t argue with that haha.
I can see why you’d think Hoenn probably won’t come, and everyone has their views and thoughts so, I can respect that. Though, if they were to follow suit, Gen3 remakes will come out. I’m not saying they are, I’m just saying it would fit the pattern is all. Now, I agree with Chaos that the huge amount of water was a good change in things and, this may just be from the fact that I was born in Italy and lived on a small Italian island for the first two years of my life, I loved that Hoenn had that much water for me to surf around on. The evil teams weren’t that great, I’ll agree, but…they were still good for me when I first played Gen3. Back to the chance of remakes though, I can’t remember if it was Masuda or someone else that said Gen3 had a special place for him and that they had big plans for Gen3 (something along those lines, I can’t remember the exact words). So given that, I’d say that remakes will happen. Now the half-a-game feel of X and Y, I completely agree that the next installment will be the second half. As to which will come first, that’s the only thing I can’t really say.
What I didn’t include in my comment is that I believe that Hoenn will receive remakes just, not during 2014 because of all the obvious tips about Gen 7. We’ll probably get them 2015/2016.
I figured that, and I really don’t think it would be Gen7 though. Really, I think they would finish Kalos with “the other half,” if you believe that theory. But, whichever comes first, I just want the questions that X and Y brought up to be answered..and to get my Hoenn remakes haha.
New article.
Sweet! Let’s go spam it.
I agree with most of this article, but “make people love Pokemon again”? X and Y has made the series more popular than it has in years. Or at least that’s what I’ve observed with a ton of people that I know. X and Y had a disappointing endgame, but overall the game is loads better than Black & White/2 IMO. I can’t wait to see how an X & Y 2 or Z will improve upon the game, though.
does anyone have a mudkip in pokemon x or y
if so can i have it
for any trade
its better if you breed first
I don’t really want standalone Hoenn remakes. The region should be incorporated into a future game. But to make more money they’re probably going to be standalone…It’s possible to transfer Pokemon from RSE to XY (via a few other games…when Bank is released), so there’s no real necessity for them. Maybe a Wii U game? Change it up a bit
I couldn’t agree more. I haven’t even finished the BW2 endgame. Or even X’s right now.
Game Freak said that XY took over three years to develop,
so they were most certainly not rushed… Because of this, I assume the frame
rate is a hardware limitation they simply couldn’t fix without overhauling the
graphics, not that I’m knowledgeable in that department. BW2 definitely had a
worse story, but how can you say they were simply a recycled BW1? How can you consider
the game nothing more than a recycling with the variety of new features such as
the new, albeit worse story, Pokéstar Studios, World Tournament, Hidden
Grottoes, Black Tower/White Treehollow, Join Avenue, Funfest Missions, the new
Unova areas, the alteration of existing areas, Memory Link, the difficulty
settings, etc.? Also, the “annualization” does not occur in Japan, which, as
you know, is where development takes place. Since Diamond and Pearl, it was
2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013. Is it really a problem if there’s only a
two-year gap between the primary pair and the next installment? As a side note,
the reason BW2 took a little less than two years to release since BW is because
the DS was aging and they were experienced with DS game development by that
point.
I copied and pasted this, which is why the comment appears the way it does.
I DONT CARE WHEN, ME WANT HOENN REMAKES!!
I have to admit when I first read the title of this I was a bit defensive thinking it would be all negative but it does make a lot of sense. Pokemon games have become more childish and rushed for demand which is probably why we lose a lot of features from past games that we liked and only get a few new improvements. X and Y made a huge leap in Pokemon with 3D graphics, Trainer customization, and the PSS, but the story and post game play was kinda sucky with little back story of the legendary Pokemon. Hoenn is my home and I have always wanted to go back to the games where I got my start but not if it’s gona be weak and rushed. Remakes jump a game system: Gameboy to Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Color to DS, and now we are looking at Gameboy Advance to 3DS. The 3DS is a system that can be updated with new software for future games meaning that it’s life span may be much longer than past systems. Although the time for Ruby and Sapphire to make their comeback has finally arrived it may be best to wait just a little longer. I would settle with a another filler game like Black 2 and White 2 if it meant more time and work would be spent on the Hoenn remakes.
I think I’m in love with you.
I agree with you. Yes, I would love Hoenn remakes, but I prefer a quality game over a shitty one. I want to be a video game designer one day, already have a series of three games planned out. However, I would want the ones programming to take their time and create a quality game, not a rushed mess just for money or just to quickly try and please fans.
I completely agree with you !!! If anything I can see us getting a useless spin-off sometime this year and then towards the end perhaps a DLC expansion. It’s what I’ve been begging for after I discovered how small XY were. 10 or so new evos for old mons (dunsparce etc) and more legendaries with some intense new routes and locations. TPCi needs to make movies and TV specials and events for the next 2-4 years based on this gen and with only 3 unreleased mons idk how this will be possible.
I predict the next games will be called XZ and YZ.
You are so right. Pokemon BW2 SUCKS SO BAD! Where is the complete form of Kyurem? I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT! And the designs? Terrible. XY is barely an improvement. You are right, they should wait.
BW2 were way more than BW1 being recycled. They’re almost completely different games, contrary to most sister games in the Pokémon series. X and Y didn’t need to “save” the 3DS, it was already selling like hot cakes.
I’m sorry Dae. Usually I think your opinions are always valid and have some good points, but this just kind of flicked the switch in the opposite direction. BW2 was just BW1 recycled with a worse story? X and Y fell short? To each their own but I majorly disagree with your viewpoints.
