PokéJungle Recaps 2013

This year was certainly a memorable one in the Poké-verse. Almost a full year ago we were treated to a Pokémon direct that revealed Generation VI of the main series. Many had wondered what other colors or gems there were left to use for their names, but The Pokémon Company surprised us all by announcing Pokémon X & Pokémon Y. These two new games boasted features fans had only dreamed of, including 3D graphics, trainer customization, and a global release. Then came the 9 months of waiting for them to come out. We all persevered however and everyone was kept up to date on all the minute revalations right here at PJN 😉

Along with Generation VI, 2013 also saw a new Pokémon movie, Genesect and the Legend Awakened, as well as a new anime season featuring the cast of Pokémon X & Y. New TCG sets based on the game also debuted.

Staff: Favorite Moments of 2013

PJ: My favorite Pokémon memory of 2013 was probably getting to go to the Pokémon Game Show. It was a first for the series and the event was super fun. I also got a chance to play Pokémon X & Y early which was a blast (but made me even more impatient)! Obviously another great moment was the release of X & Y. They’re great games and being able to start my own adventure was something I had waited to do since they were announced. Lastly, I’d just like to say that 2013 was a year of exciting growth for this site and it really has been a privilege to deliver news to all of you and read your comments on all our posts. I’ve also really enjoyed working alongside all of the staff here. Here’s to a great 2014!

moving: 2013 has been a pretty big year for me. My activity and work on the site increased hugely and it now feels like I’ve become a proper part of the site (hopefully the other staff and visitors agree!), and I’m proud to say I’ve been a part of PokéJungle.nets biggest and busiest year yet. It’s difficult to fit all of my highlights of the year into a couple of sentences, so I won’t even try… However one of my favourite moments was in the week before X & Y released, the staff were all up in arms about who would be doing what and who would get their copy of the game first. Then, two days early I received my game shortly after Sammydodger and properly kicked off our in-depth coverage. There’s absolutely loads I could pick, but that will do for now, perhaps more in the comments… 2014? Bring it on!

Visitors: Favorite Moments of 2013

Your turn! We here at PJN would like to hear about your favorite things from this past year. We’ve also prepared a small list of questions to inspire you 😉

  • What piece of news made you most excited for Pokémon X & Y?
  • What was your favorite Pokémon that was introduced this year?
  • Any non-Pokémon things that were memorable for you in 2013?

Looking Forward to 2014

A new year means new possibilities. We already know of one release we’ll get: Pokémon Bank. After it’s rocky launch and subsequent removal in Japan, only time will tell when it will be released worldwide. Hopefully soon though! The next year could also bring new surprises for fans. Spin-offs? Remakes? Who knows what will be announced. One thing’s for sure though… we’ll do our best here at PJN to report it first! So we hope you’ll stick with us and come along for the ride 😀

Want a New Year’s Resolution?

I’m going to shamelessly suggest that you make it your resolution to join our GREAT forum and post regularly 😀 It’s rather quiet right now, but we’ve got some great members and the commenters here would feel at home there. Hope to see you at Mt. Moon Community in 2014!

  1. I remember before XY’s announcement, I was afraid that GF would stop the Fire-Water-Grass Starter trend. I was wrong. Obviously, they’ll always stick to this formula in Pokémon RPG games.

  2. I am ashamed of myself…… And I haven’t just commented here using this account, so that total up there is somewhat wrong lol

Everything. The trailers would be on repeat for a fairly long time. The trailer that made me most excited was the reveal of X & Y.

“What was your favorite Pokémon introduced this year?”

CHESPIN! C to the H to the E to the S to the P to the I to the N!! What does that spell? The best Pokémon ever!

“Any non-Pokémon things that were memorable for you in 2013?”

AC:NL (Animal Crossing: New Leaf). It has been the game played on my 3DS ever since a week or two ago. That game is an addiction!

I hope everyone had a great year! May many years await 🙂

  4. Since X and Y sold over 4 million in it’s first week and became the fastest selling and best selling 3DS game to date, think about what Ruby and Sapphiree, X and Y remake would sell of GF decided to sell out a new title every year…

    (Remember these are estimates)

    2013, X and Y= 4 million
2014, XZ and YZ= 4 million or less
2015, Ruby and Sapphire remakes or Emerald remake= 6 million or more
    2016, New region= 4 million or less

    Individual cost= $40 – $45

    Worth of Pokemon from 2013-2016 = $720 M. – $810 M.

    (Putting aside all subtraction.)

  5. How much does Nintendo gain from GF from their sales? Pokemon should be a world-wide billion worth company by now. I mean just X and Y made $160 M. So, I’m wondering how much of that $160- M. goes into Nintendo’s bank. I MEAN THEY ALREADY HAVE 14 BILLION!

  6. Guys I think froslass should get a mega. for my idea, i think her ice horns should turn into long hair made of ice. Her red bow should turn into a red kimono, and her ability will become “opposite attraction” or “tainted love” or something like that. This ability causes all pokemon that have a type that is super effective against it to fall in love with it. I just think mega froslass should look more like what froslass is based off of, which is the yuki onna. heres an article about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuki-onna

  7. for me 2013 was the year i got back into pokemon. to be more specific dec 26th 2012 but thats 4 days of 2012 xD i had grown away from pokemon after platinum came out my friends stopped liking it so i pretty much sold all my games save for emerald and platinum ( platinum was eaten by my dog the day of O_O) and i had pretty joined the hate bandwagon on gen 5, then i was watching some pokemon black walkthoughs on youtube and wanted to get the newer games, since i had watched all of black i got black 2, it was fun i enjoyed it. Then X and Y got announced my first reaction was the only one i like is fenniken and i expect no more then what we’ve had in the past. my opinion changed quite alot as more info was released chespin became my favorite of the 3, but froakie quickly climbed up to number 2 and is my favorite to use online. mega evolution toke me by surprise, slyveon was predictably a new type. but as the year went on with xy news i wanted to play more i replayed my emerald version, bought Heart gold which i enjoy playing alot xD regot my fire red version and pokemon black 1 . heart gold being one of my new favorite pokemon games.

    Sylveon. Why? Wynaut?

“Any non-Pokémon things that were memorable for you in 2013?”

Fairy Tail to have a new season. Christina Aguilera’s duet (Those falsetto notes and head voice were strong and that restrain from doing vocal runs every second was amazing). Dota 2, League of Legends, and Naruto Shippuden.
