This installment of Art Appreciation is on the next batch of Gen Six Pokémon we have seen – Vivillion, Noivern, Clauncher, Skrelp, Flabébé and Litleo. I chose these pieces of artwork as I thought they represented each Pokémon’s personality really well! This time I have also looked for some variety in other pieces of art and popped then in a gallery for you to have a nosey at too. What do you think of them? 🙂
Remember to add your very own art (and check out other peoples) in Smeargle’s Canvas and the Mount Moon Thread.

Here we have Scatterbug, Spewpa and Vivillion! I chose this image as it has all of Vivillion’s evolutions included. The pale pastel colours are perfect for this family portrait, as Vivillion’s little babies look up at her and she gazes back, upon her beautiful children!

I feel this picture shows the less intimidating side of Noivern as he nibbles on his Pecha berry. We’re not used to seeing him this calm; normally he’s swooping about looking for his prey. I love how the artist has put him against a warmer background too, rather than being in the gloom, as it helps make him look less frightening!

These bold colours really stood out to me from all the other Clauncher images which were slightly murkier. The overlaying patterns and bright palette enhance the simple line drawing underneath, and by adding in his determined expression, it really brings this design to life!

This image of Skrelp is like a game of hide and seek; I can see three! I love how his little red eye pierces through the blue and green of the ocean, while its purple seaweed covered body helps to camouflage it from predators. There is just enough detail in the seaweed to keep your eye drawn to it for a good amount of time while you search for the hiding Skrelp.

I love this drawing of Flabébé; this Pokémon is really growing on me now! I love the expression on her face, desperately holding onto her flower while it blows about in the breeze, shown by the swirly white lines. Her dainty but strong personality really shines through in this image, and in my opinion I think it’s super cute!

This is one of the cutest pictures I have seen so far from my XY searches. I adore how Litleo’s personality comes through in this drawing, showing him as a happy curious cub. The sparkle in his eye and his playful stance with Fletchling really capture this young lion perfectly. Also, the bold colours remind me of the bright clothing people wore when I went to Africa and brings back lots of memories… ahh good times indeed.
