I think most Pokémon GO players know the disappointment of catching a Mythical Pokémon, Legendary Shiny or special Shadow Pokémon only to find out their base stats are subpar. In the main series, Gold Bottle Caps allow you to maximize IVs (Individual Values, random base values for Pokémon stats) but that has not been available to GO players to improve their Pokémon… until now.
How Hyper Training will work in Pokémon GO
When a player has a Gold Bottle Cap, they can initiate training with one of their Pokémon that is a Good Buddy or higher. You’ll be able to select how much you want to improve your stats by and then have 365 days to complete activities that correspond to the stats you’re raising.
You’ll earn those stat increases by:
- Attack: Battling alongside your trainee while they’re your buddy
- Defense: Playing together with your Pokémon when they’re your buddy, exploring, and catching Pokémon.
- HP: Exploring alongside your Pokémon as a buddy. Includes spinning PokéStops, earning Buddy Candy, or etc.
Gold Bottle Caps will be very rare so make sure you select the Pokémon you train carefully!
How to receive a Gold Bottle Cap in Pokémon GO
The first opportunity to receive a Gold Bottle Cap will be through the paid deluxe Go Pass for Ancients Recovered, which will be available on June 23 at 10:00 a.m. Even after you earn a Gold Bottle Cap from the pass, it must be used by Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
