A special animation featuring Dragonite to debut on Pokémon Day

Pokémon Japan has announced that a special commemorative animation called Dragonite and the Mail Carrier will be shared on Pokémon Day, February 27, on their YouTube channel. More information will be released on February 13.

Not much is known about it right now, but some promotional images for the special can be seen below. It appears that Paldea may be at least one location featured in the animation and the human protagonists may be the two children pictured riding Dragonite.

A Japanese soundtrack will also be available on February 27, as well as the theme song ‘Paper Airplane’, for digital purchase.

The concept of Dragonite delivering mail has been a long-standing idea in the Pokémon franchise and dates back to the very first movie, Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back. It has been used throughout different games and media. To my knowledge, this upcoming special will be the first time it gets to star in something as a main character though. Please correct me in the comments if I’m wrong!
