The Nintendo Switch 2 has been revealed; watch the trailer now

After much speculation and anticipation, Nintendo has finally revealed the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Called the Nintendo Switch 2, the new console has been shown off in a trailer and showcases some of the unique physical differences it has compared to the Switch.

Overall, the new console is very similar to its predecessor but slightly larger. The dock also leaves more of the top of the screen exposed.

Unlike the sliding mechanism for the Switch’s Joy-Cons, the Switch 2 will feature magnetically attached Joy-Cons that pop into the sides of the console. They also feature a two-tone design in which color highlights the joystick and inner edge (or top, depending on how you’re using the controller).

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch games, both physical and digital. This should please fans with a large collection of games for the original Switch. This, of course, includes the many Pokémon titles released!

More will be revealed in a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, 2025.
