Starter Showdown: Clash – Kalos Knockout

This week we were treated to a 13-minute preview of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so we’re back a little later than expected with the next round. Make sure you check out the video as there were some fun new tidbits revealed for the game. But without further delay, let’s get straight to business…

Alolan Adventures Results

Despite the delayed start of the next round, we still held voting for just one week and the results this time show a trend… Once again we hosted a special voting area over on our Discord server and unlike the Galar Round the results there showed the same general pattern as our Twitter poll.

Let’s get to it, the overall results of the Alola Round are…

Rowlet took a first place with a huge gap between it and Popplio in second place, with Litten just slipping into third place with only 1% less votes. Congratulations to Team Rowlet!

Rowlet was equally popular on Discord and Twitter, while Popplio and Litten only had minor sways on each platform. Will the next round have a bigger difference between the three starters? Let’s move on to find out!

Kalos Round Voting

Here commences the third round of Starter Showdown: Clash! In the Kalos Round we’re visiting the region of beauty: Kalos! Trainers got their first and only chance to visit Kalos (so far) in Pokémon X & Y released in 2013. The region was the first time the Fairy-type made its appearance in games, and Kalos was home to the controversial Mega Evolution mechanic.

The Kalosian Starter Pokémon were gifted in order to help players fulfil a request from Professor Sycamore at the start of Pokémon X & Y and follow the usual typing pattern as seen in all previous core series Pokémon Games.

  • Chespin the Spiny Nut Pokémon is a Grass-type Pokémon and the first Grass-type Starter Pokémon to evolve into a part Fighting-type
  • Fennekin the Fire-type Fox Pokémon has the lowest base stats of all Starter Pokémon, but charms trainers with its adorable looks
  • Finally, Froakie, the Water-Type Bubble Frog Pokémon gets its Pokédex category from the bubble it excretes to protect itself from incoming attacks

That’s the line-up for this round, but who will take your vote? As always you can cast your vote by joining our Discord server and heading to the #starter-showdown channel, where you can join fellow fans to discuss your pick, and vote using our Twitter poll below. You will need a Twitter account in order to vote. Make sure to vote for your favourite as the Champion of the Starter Showdown finale will be the star of an upcoming giveaway here on the site!

See you all soon for the results and the Unova round!
