Holiday ’17 Fan-Art Celebration

We’re lucky to have an extremely creative community on PokéJungle and we really love seeing the things you create! Once again we’re excited to announce another Fan-Art Celebration!

In our Holiday ’17 Fan-Art Celebration we want our readers to submit their best art to us, from which we will pick our staff picks and publish them right here on PokéJungle.net! We’re asking you to create anything festive, just as long as it’s your original work and you can send it to use in a tweet or email it’s all good!

Maybe you’ll design your own Pokémon Christmas card, or create an Ultra Necrozma star for the top of your Christmas tree? Who knows?! Just get creative!

Sending a submission is simple! Send an email to us with your username (or any way to identify you)  and the artwork to pokejungle[at]pokejungle.net (make sure you change the [at] part to @ or we won’t receive it! If it’s easier you can send us your artwork via twitter by mentioning @pokejungle and using #PJChristmas17 somewhere in the tweet!

Also submissions must be sent to us by midnight on Christmas Eve (December 24th) in your time zone. On December 26th we will publish an article with our favourites, so keep an eye open!

For those of you who aren’t creatively oriented in this way, don’t worry! We’ve got some other opportunities coming up soon for you! For everyone else, please enjoy!

  6. Once again, I am about to embark on 3 hour flight. To drive 6 hours to a town I have never been and rest. For the next day, to be interviewed by two people I have never met for an hour. Finally to return home after another 6 hour trip and fly back the following night. All the while I am skipping classes.

        • They shot bioluminescent mucus instead of ink. To a 6th grade boy that was quite cool, also it’s called the Vampire Squid. This is back before Twilight became a “hit” and ruined the vampire genre.

  22. Oh right I just remembered something about my game Howlite version regarding Legendaries, each of mine can use a signiture move being

    Ouroborok learns Doom Boom (Fitting of an apocalyptic Pokémon)

    My cover Legend I haven’t made there’s yet, but maybe it should be where its a 50/50 chance to be Fire or ice type

    And the synthetic trio learn one each too
    -The Electric/Psychic one I haven’t made yet (leader of the trio)
    -The Poison/Flying member gets Poison Darts (A special move, that will be an up’d version of Rock Blast with higher accuracy)
    – The only one named thus far Craggon the Rock/Dragon type learns Tough Tackle (A physical Rock move, that will do something really good I just need to think of that something thus far)

  24. As we discovered possible lore for the Water Wolf Canadian Starter from the Leak, I started to look up possible lore for the other two, starting with the Raccoon

    There’s a Native American story called “The Raccoon and the Bee-Tree”. It’s about a day from the life of a Raccoon that sleeps in a dead tree. In the ending, the Raccoon is running, with leaves glued to him because his fur was in honey.

    There’s a statue of a Dead Raccoon in one Canadian city raised by people from there.

    You can own a Raccoon as a pet in canada.

    That’s all I have for now, maybe I’ll look more into it later. Now onto the Fire Goat!

      In the 90s there was a canadian cartoon about a antropomorphic Raccoon family called “The Raccoons”, it was pretty popular

      • *COPIED FROM MY EARLIER RESPONSE TO ONE OF THESE QUESTIONS*
        A guy who leaked some XY stuff back in the day, tweeted pictures of a Racoon, a Goat and a Wolf, probably gen 8 starters.
        Also, I (and some other people) assume that means the gen 8 region is Canada based, because we know the Goat is the Fire stater (it’s on the Fire zodiac), Racoon makes much more sense for a Grass starter and that means the Wolf would be the Water Starter. And actually there is a rare species of Swimming Sea Wolves in Canada, as well as Racoons and Goats being common animals there. Plus a long time ago on Canada grounds people believed in half Wolves half Orcas and that could be the basis for the Water Starter’s final evo.

  25. Now the results of my Fire Goat research!

    The first one is more the US, but it was partially also known in Canada. There’s the Legend of the Goat Man of Mary Land, a half man half goat murdering people with an Axe.

    Goat Farming has been pretty popular in canada for a long time. Many canadian farm goats died in wildfires. There were few news articles about one goat called “Leo the Goat” surviving.

    Mountain Goats are common animals in canada.

    Not canada at all, but in chinese astrology and zodiac The Goat is especially connected with Fire.

  30. Can anyone check for me to see if Pokejungle is loading on chrome mobile for them? I keep getting an error page when I try on chrome on my phone, but when I try Safari on there it works. It also works just fine on regular chrome on the PC

    All of them are currently level 39. I am currently at Ula’Ula meadow. I was quite suprised by how difficult Plumeria was during our second encounter. Even though my Pokémon and her were the same level (5 Pokémon vs. 2 Pokémon). She ended up taking down every Pokémon I had on my team except for Astolfo whose health went down into the red. I know, I am reiterating a trite phrase, but these games are definitely more difficult than what I had expected.

    • From what I heard, the only credibility this person has backing them up is the fact that they had info back in the 6th gen. (X&Y).

    • Well it’s hard to say if it’s a “rumor” or not. Really all we have is that a former “in the know” person posted three animals (tanuki, goat, and wolf) and said they look like a good group of animals. Supposedly he also hinted he may know some gen 8 stuff, but I haven’t found anything like that specifically. He did however today give a prediction for what’s to come so we shall see if any of this comes true

      • Maybe. Tho they could just tease it and then save the full reveal for later. If that happens then we may not get gen 8 next year after all. They’d probably want to space Zeraora’s reveal out with a special gen 8 reveal as much as they can. Similar to how they left a couple months between Volcanion and Magearna

      • my idea is that Zerazora is the Alola region’s “Champion” a wandering warrior who proved his worth to the Tapus and anointed him

        But over the years he became reckless, arrogant and cocky which led to his banishment or “sucked into ultra space”

          • Sequel? What sequel? You mean to the I choose Pikachu movie? There’s a movie every year so they have to announce them at some point. This movie will be about something completely different than I choose you. Just like all the movies are their own stories.

  50. Can someone tell me why the prominent members of the ultra recon squad are different depending on your version of the game? Gamefreak at it again with the, “Look at this! We’re playing this off as actual content!”

    • Then pop at some random time soooo much ‘meaningless’ dialogue that the player wonders whats their point. If anything after the opening scene you think they are bad. So every time you see them you think they are bad.
      They definitely should have been in Battle Tree and only use UB’s I feel like that would be super cool

      • They don’t even seem to be champion challengers either despite them emphasizing enjoying battling and saying they’re going to stick around and take on the trials. GF made such a hollow game. You know you f*cked up when I prefer the story of SM over USUM. I really liked the emotional bond between Lillie and Nebby but that was totally thrown to sh*t at the climax and during the resolution.

        • Ok I couldnt tell if it was just me! But the bond between Lillie and Nebby felt a lot weaker in this game. Idk if I just got so old of it, or they were actually missing dialogue, but it did seem very small.

          • No like it was actually kind of sad in SM! I mean, (I guess?) Lillie gets to keep Nebby in this one, but it’s not like she gets to ride it through ultra wormholes or use it in battle. It’s just a glorified pet now that they changed the story.

          • Yea it begs the question why does she give it to us. She becomes a trainer, doesnt she? She should become the new Tobias and just use a legend throughout the whole Island challenge.

          • Yeah USUM’s plot was a trainwreck…not X&Y trainwreck levels, but somehow worse than the original. It bothers me they changed Lusamine so much. Mainly because she’s literally the only character in the entire game that gets a personality flip. Why not play up the alternate universe thing you hyped and play it up more? Take more risks and change more characters. Make it more memorable.

      • I bet you’re right. While still being bad as remakes, they would be stronger and easier to swallow if they focused all of their attention on making ONE game rather than a bunch of stupid and unnecessary changes for two versions to “justify” that price hike.

          • The fusions either:
            -Shouldn’t exist unless the games were sequels and justified the two versions. Honestly the fusion part was so unnecessary to the plot that they don’t even deserve to be on the cover. The plot needed to be entirely reworked. Necrozma entered way too late in game and was only fused in the grand scheme of things for like 2 minutes. It’s a similar situation with B2W2 where the fusions don’t last for long in the plot, but at least there the game leads up to the fusions. We learn about the DNA splicers and how Kyurem and Reshi/Zek used to have different forms. The fusions in the this game come out of nowhere and have no bearing on the story. We still would’ve chased Necrozma through the wormhole even if they hadn’t fused because we promised the Ultra Recon Squad we’d save their world from having no light.

            -Maybe changed depending on choices you made during the game. Or maybe in the beginning tutorial you get to choose whether you begin in night or day, which determines it.

            I’m leaning toward option 1 because their designs are also just bad and unappealing.

    • I’ll be so mad if Lucas and Roy didnt Return. I feel like returning characters from DLC should definitely stay because they returned from high demand anyway. It would be an injustice if they just left.

  53. So who does everyone play as in Smash? Doesnt have to be mains, but just fun characters you like using? For me:
    Lucas: I just love Lucas so much. He’s small, likes Magic, and can freeze people. Yes Please!
    Marcina: They are my favorite sword characters in the game, so simple yet so beautiful
    Zelda: underrated, strong, powerful, and bottom tier, and female. Love her. Wish she was better but it doesnt seem it will ever be that way.
    Robin: Robin was my expected main in smash 4, but then I saw how slow she was. I still like usin her for funsies
    Roy: My most wanted character in all of smash. I love Roy, I suck with him but killing with Fsmash at 60% is beautiful
    Falco: He’s cool, nice spikes, nice aerials, and his nice conversions. I just love his movemennt in general
    Charizard: Definitely my favorite heavyweight in this game. I remember I won a local amateur tournament solely with charizard. He’s great. I would definitely main him.

    • Well I said all this below, but:
      -Bowser Jr/Iggy- I always win when I play this guy. Always. Fast, 2 Ranged attacks, damaging recovery move…so good. Underrated as hell
      -Zero Suit Samus- Didn’t find out how awesome she was till late in my ownage of the game, but she’s awesome! She’s got a high jump and can paralyze people. And she’s fast as hell
      -Villager- can be tricky to get right, but still fun! Want more AC fighters
      -Wii Fit Trainer- Everyone is always like, “Wtf? Wii Fit Trainer?” And then I wreck them.
      -Jigglypuff- Just to troll. I still don’t understand her final smash or how it works. But I’ve won quite a few times with her and I always wear Green/Leaf’s hat ^-^
      -Yoshi- Can be fun, but honestly I only play as him because I like Yoshi. It’s so hard to get kills as him. Like very hard. I only ever end up with one or two lol, but I make it to the final 2 usually because he can hard to hit

      Link -good all round and I like his upward spin slash and other sword attacks.
      Bowser – Butt Slam, pretty savage and I like the upward shell spin.
      DK – Hard hitting, generally amusing, DK copter is good. I like the ground slapping attack Kirby – Fun to play, i like the hats, his rock forms and hammer attacks are fun and I like his floating ability.
      Greninja – Fast, fun, ninja attacks, yay.
      Zero Suit Samus – fast, strong, good at jumping, paralyse laser.

  57. Speaking of Pokemon music. I feel conflicted. I saw someone somewhere when USUM came out comparing Masuda music to music done by other people in GF. They were saying that Masuda isn’t all that great. Ultra Necro’s theme being one example. I think part of the reason is that many people find Masuda’s music boring for a lack of a better word? What I wonder tho is it because he just happens to write many of the pieces of music in Pokemon that this is and we just feel like we hear the same stuff all the time? Or is his writing style really that boring? Like I get the feeling that we are just numbed to his music and if it was more of a mix up his music would stand out a bit better than it just being the same stuff over and over.

    • I mean, he makes almost exclusively battle themes, what are people expecting? He’s done a pretty good job. He made Cyrus’ battle theme for crying out loud. Incredible. Course some of the best pokemon music comes from the other composers as well

  70. Wait so let me get this straight; Hyrule Castle IS being restored? And this will have cutscenes taking place in the present? OMG! New shrines, and also new cutscenes of the Champions.   89. SPLATOON IS SUCH BULLSHIT

    I was playing Rainmaker. It went to over time but we got the the thing after the shield killed three of their team members. As soon as we picked it up though, the match ended without giving us a chance to even make a last second comeback.

    I love Splatoon but god damn can they please fix this sh*t?

  91. BotW won!!!! It deserved it 100%!! It’s a triumph of games. It has its flaws completely and like… I never disagree with a lot of the criticisms. This game just does so much right it just blows my mind how good it is.

    I’m excited to talk about it further in my best of 2017 :3

    • I wasn’t much of TLOZ fan but this game was so amazing and it definitely did deserve it! Wind Waker HD was the first Zelda I played all the way through, and when BOTW was announced it became my favorite TLOZ game!

      • True, and I can list a million amazing things about Mario but I think Zelda is just going to be such a game changer. It kicked off the year with this beautiful world that is truly open. It never tied you down.

        Which is ironic because this is the year so many game companies ruined their games by shoving down lootboxes and hiding content behind pay walls

          • I actually never really had a Wii. The switch is my first Nintendo home console since the gamecube lol which I was too young to understand shooting games so I never played prime because of it. And lord help me if they put gamecube games on the eshop anytime soon lol

          • I have a job right now but I am hopefully going to get a better paying one in the coming months lol this is a plus side to being single now ? don’t have my ex spending all my money like she did over a year ago. Been spoiling myself all year and I must say it’s very nice!

          • I had to quit my job due to school unfortunately, trying to focus on my classes and what not. But next semester I’ll be taking mostly online classes and they’re easy, so I’ll definitely have time for work!

          • I fully understand that! Quit my last job I had at Walmart to finally go to college. Me doing that did a lot of things and showed some people’s true colors so it definitely worked out the best for me. That said good luck with everything!

    • I’d say the chances are 99%. Nintendo is going to assume that many of their fans (like me) who have only been passively interested in Metroid will want to go back before Prime 4, just like how Bayonetta 1+2 are returning before Bayonetta 3.

  94. This year had some of the best games in years and also some of the greediest cash grabs.

    So I think over all this will be remembered as a fantastic year for gaming as garbage like Battlefront and Shadow of War will be forgotten and Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey will be celebrated

  97. Hey I just Realized my Malamar is Modest but it uses Attack and has the wrong Ability.
    And also that the Arbok I was planning on using doesn’t learn a better poison Physical move until lv 63 so I need to repalce it .

  99. I thought the Game Awards were FANTASTIC this year, definitely took out a lot of the cringe material and putting in some great new content. BAYONETTA 3 BAYBEE, HOLY CRAP! AND ZELDA DLC AVAILABLE NOW! AND DEATH STRANDING TRAILER! AND BREATH OF THE WILD WINS GAME OF THE YEAR! Of course our internet was down when the thing was going on, but I watched it anyway and was laughing like a madman at all the Nintendo stuff. They don’t even need a Direct this month, they’re set until January.

  102. Game Freak is releasing a patch for USUM which fixes an issue where Pokémon who know less than 4 moves will forget the first move when being taught a move at the Move Tutors among other. Thank god because I’ve lost numerous BP trying to figure out what was going on, luckily it’s super easy to earn BP in this game!

So, I was super sure the DLC would release last night and I had a Christmas party, where they supposedly spend $50 per kid, so I was like “oh cool I’ll ask for either a Gamestop, Toys R Us, or Target, and I’ll buy an eshop card!” But then they got me a $20 Regal Theatres gift card, a Football (I HATE sports), and a football blanket… at least my Grandma always gives me $50 for Christmas

    – New faction arises which also plays with conventional Pokémon story stereotypes, like the OG Team Plasma.

    – Origins for the Shadow Triad

    – Bianca becoming a prominent researcher on her own

    – Cheren becoming a member of the Elite 4, replacing Grimsley who canonically retired in USUM

    – Lillie pulls a Caitlin and becomes a part of Unova’s Elite 4, specialising in Fairy types. She replaces Caitlin. Her ace is Mega Audino, but she also has a Clefable and a Whimsicott.

    -Mega Evolution has an expanded role. Reshiram and White Kyurem can evolve with the Reshiramite, Zekrom and Black Kyurem can evolve with the Zekromite, and both can absorb the other dragon through Mega Evolution with the opposite Dragon’s Mega Stone.

    – Expanded Pokédex. In Unova 2, Unova mons made up 1/2 of the Dex. They’ll make up a third of the BW3 Dex, but Unova mons are still common and get things like buffs and Megas so they still receive attention.

    -N and Lillie meet and reflect on their similar situations: abusive parent, special bond with legendary, witnessing their beloved partner being forcefully fused.

    • Pokemon FRLG Re-Remake ( yes I’m going there )

      – Kanto and Johto but this time they actually feel like Japan and with better cities and routes

      – Pokeathlon to make a return :3

      – Walking Pkm (if pokeathlon is a thing then walking mon would probably be one)

      – A PWT where you can battle E4 members as well

      – A better Photo club or something where you can take photos please, where you can take photos with more than one Pkm

      – AZ Floette too, like seriously, why adding such a cool redesign with such a cool move if you’re not even gonna distribute it.

      – Not TR again pls, something new

      – Simplistic story, don’t make the storyline very complicated, just make it simple yet effective

      – Try giving the characters more depth pls and care more about secondary characters (like gym leaders) as effective as BWw did

      – New Characters and Megas but not Z-Moves :3

      – Edit: Triple and rotation battles to return I miss them

      Now that I think about it, this is more of a reboot than a remake lol
