New Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Trailer Shows off New Rotom Dex Features

The information from CoroCoro about new features in Pokémon Sun& Moon has been released in a new trailer!
Here are the main takeaways from the new information:

  • Necrozma, and its Dusk Mane/Dawn Wings Formes, can learn a new Psychic-type attack: Photon Geyser! It will use either Attack or Special Attack… whichever of Necrozma’s stats is higher!
  • Dusk Mane Necrozma and Solgaleo can use the new Z-Move Searing Sunraze Smash by powering up Sunsteel Strike and holding Solganium Z
  • Dawn Wings Necrozma and Lunala can use the new Z-Move Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom by powering up Moongeist Beam and holding Lunalium Z
  • Both new Z-Moves ignore the target’s ability when attacking
  • Rotom Dex can be communicated in more ways and the way you do so can change its personality
  • A new feature, the Roto Loto, grants new items which can increase EXP, prize money or other factors for set amounts of time
  • Befriending the Rotom Dex will eventually allow you to use multiple Z-Moves during battle, but probably not in competitive matches

  1. Have you noticed that all pokemon in the new trailer are pretty high levels?
In the English trailer Gigalith and Mimikyu are lv. 65
In the Japanese trailer, Crobat and Bewear are lv. 70 while Gigalith and Mimikyu are lv. 75 (in the wild?)

    • Mimikyu (I think) has the gray Pokeball icon on its HP bar which only appears when you see a Pokémon in the wild you’ve already caught. So maybe it could be true?

  2. Scenes when Ash actually gets Solgaleo, and they bring back Tobias for 1 episode in the league arc and he has a Dawn Wings Necrozma who one shots Ash’s team

  3. I really love Animal Crossing, but I hope that whatever main game comes next for it really takes some cues from Stardew Valley. I want deeper relationships with villagers (NOT furry crap though) and better customization of the town. There’s probably more stuff I’d like, but this is all I’ve got for now.

  4. I’ve been thinking about the art I’m goona do for the Halloween thing. I think I wanna do a cute costume party thing where the sun and moon characters are all wearing costumes and someone is taking is picture of all of them together

      • ok thank you, slam never hits. i also have fury swipes (furret btw) i was thinking headbutt or strength but i think strength will be better overall. trying to catch furret up as per our conversation earlier today

        • Yeah Slam was never really worth it unless you couldn’t teach Strength. Fury Swipes is probably not great either with the lack of the Metronome. Headbutt has 10 less BP but can cause flinching. Iron Tail, Dig, maybe one of the Elemental Punches could be good. Also Quick Attack and Swift since that’s physical until gen 4.

          • i was thinking swift especially with the double team insanity. also i got rid of quick attack lol. and i was thinking of iron tail too but i will stay away from the low accuracy moves

          • ohh that could work. toxic isnt 100% accuracy so i think ill pass. Dig strength shadow ball and double team it is. thank you

  5. thinking dig, shadow ball, strength, and maybe toxic for my furret. it can learn a lot of moves but since fire punch ice punch and thunder punch are all special ill pass on them

  7. Started up a Mystery Dungeon run about 30 minutes ago, and after the personality test I ended up with…
Psyduck. Not what I imagined at all being, but I’m eager to see how it works out for me.
And as a partner I chose Charmander (named him Cole), which should work out very well with Psyduck.

  8. man playing silver, it makes me wonder why people dont like gen 2 very much. Just the idea that these games are so long is incredible. It really is an incredible achievement of Iwata to have been able to fit both regions.

  9. ?
    I wanted double competitive z-moves..
I knew this was way more likely buh..
    Alsooo
    I’m not even competitive ?
I’m trying to use only Pokemon I’d already planned to catch for my teams or to box.
    Can someone help me?

    Singles:
    Togetic (support: t-wave defog)
    Mega Mewtwo Y
    Blaziken (z move)
    Serperior (attract contrary)
    Ash-Greninja
    Phermosa

    Doubles:
    Togetic
    Arcanine
    Snorlax
    Talonflame (tailwind)
    Alolan Raichu (z move)
    Tapu Koko (electric terrain)

    Triples:
    Togetic
    Butterfree (sleep)
    Mega Mewtwo X
    Gliscor
    Mamoswine (Stones)
    Talonflame

Singles I just went for strength I guess.. hmm
Doubles thought through a lil tho I have no idea..
Triple.. I know no one does it.. but I want to.. and have even less of an idea for how to

      • Can you give me an example..
Assuming 1 Pokemon per z move
Cuz I don’t think both z eevee and the next Pokemon would likely be able too fully set up

        Reply
      • I just can’t think of too many Pokemon that would prefer a z crystal over an item.. let alone 2 that would work on 1 team.. I’m sure people would find a way tho…
I just feel like it wouldn’t be something that the opponent couldn’t see coming a mile away.. due to lack of options..
Like Alolan Raichu and Tapu Koko same team… we know what’s next.
They aren’t easy to take down regardless tho, for some, who haven’t planned specifically for it I guess

        • I mean I haven’t gone over every combination but anything that can use a z-setup move then pass it or utilise the boosts for another z attack or set-up is gonna be annoying to fight. Porygon-Z being able to boost twice limits phasing for example, since you’d know after one thing phases you to then take it down with something else then come back and set-up again.

          • True.. I just don’t think it would be as easy as people say it will be.. nor likely as hard as I think.
But either way yeah.. 99% chance now this is like dodging and Amie :/

  10. I read on YouTube.. some people think the reason that the lengthy, take you to another dimension z move, was necessary because Necrozma wants to protect the planet..
    Does it?
    If so.. kinda cool explanation..
    Cuz.. I was wondering *___*

    Reply
    • Those z moves belong to solgaleo and lunala, which of course want to protect the planet. The fact that Necrozma can use those moves does not mean for sure that it is a hero…

          • I figured this explanation came from the game… :////
Like it loves the loaner or something.. no?
Guess GF just loves long cut scenes

          • if it wanted to protect the earth ot could have started from not absorbing solgaleo/lunala. I think GF has found another silly explanation for Necrozma to not be an evil pokemon but I don’t think the “savior of the earth” is that explation…

  11. You know, watching the 1st opening for the BW anime made me think:Maybe I should go back to the anime to see what I really feel about it. I mean, Ash was really idiotic and so were his strategies, but I’ve been able to find enjoyment in bad things before (mainly because they’re laughably bad)

  12. I took your advice, Star, and did some rough sketches of my idea. It turned out pretty nicely too. Now just to do some more finalizing and then actually start on a final drawing! 😛

  13. So i’ve noticed in the latest episode that there’s a rivalry developing between Ash’s Litten and Lycanroc. Hope they explore this further and hopefully evolve Litten to make them at least equals

  14. I legit got so lucky – and this has never happened to me ever in Pokemon I don’t think.
I was just playing Silver and I was on route 14, cut to access the girl who wants to trade a chantey for Aero (cause I couldn’t remember if there were any items) – went into the grass and it was a Chansey.
1% encounter was my first encounter. Even caught it in a Pokeball which is what I want to do for all the Pokemon in Silver

      • I’ll just breed the Chansey with a Ditto and trade that hatched Chansey.
Just got v v lucky I suppose – and its holding an item which must be a Lucky Egg which has an 8% chance of Chansey holding it
