New Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Trailer Shows off New Rotom Dex Features

The information from CoroCoro about new features in Pokémon Sun& Moon has been released in a new trailer!
Here are the main takeaways from the new information:

  • Necrozma, and its Dusk Mane/Dawn Wings Formes, can learn a new Psychic-type attack: Photon Geyser! It will use either Attack or Special Attack… whichever of Necrozma’s stats is higher!
  • Dusk Mane Necrozma and Solgaleo can use the new Z-Move Searing Sunraze Smash by powering up Sunsteel Strike and holding Solganium Z
  • Dawn Wings Necrozma and Lunala can use the new Z-Move Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom by powering up Moongeist Beam and holding Lunalium Z
  • Both new Z-Moves ignore the target’s ability when attacking
  • Rotom Dex can be communicated in more ways and the way you do so can change its personality
  • A new feature, the Roto Loto, grants new items which can increase EXP, prize money or other factors for set amounts of time
  • Befriending the Rotom Dex will eventually allow you to use multiple Z-Moves during battle, but probably not in competitive matches

  1. That art of the forms is just awesome. Also, those are some of the most ridiculous Z-Moves I’ve ever seen. I want to go to Route 1 and mess around by sending those Pokémon to their demise through an Ultra Wormhole.

  2. The art is beautiful btw Just gorgeous.
and a lottery? Idk how I feel about it. I hope its not too luck based, because that can get very annoying. And I love it. This game looks soooo fun, but…
Wheres our better post game facility? Has GF officially given up on those? Is this the first third version since Yellow without post game facility?
I want to ask this honestly to fellow (semi)hardcore pokemon fans:
If Battle Frontier, PWT was added to post game, would you gladly play it?

    • If we’re lucky they might hide it from us until the game is released but I’m starting to doubt that. I’m thinking that we might get and upgraded BT instead.

And yes, I’d play it, I like these kind of facilities

  3. So rotom is basically has O-power functionality. I like the fact we can interact with it in a more meaningful way also I love that we can change it’s personality based on how we treat it!

  4. Siiiiiiigh I was so close to the jackpot on the Loto ticket I got…
But then again they’re designed to keep making them money while you lose

  5. Okay I’m super tired of all these Z-moves. We all know they are not returning for gen 8 so it’s just pointless. Not to mention they’re overly long.

    • Guess that means Megas were pointless too

I like them rotating and trying out new features, makes every game unique and not every new game is auto invalidated by the game before itb

      • That’s a false equivalence in terms of my argument. Megas have returned past gen 6. Sure, we didn’t get new ones, but they are still available to use. I bet anything Z-moves will be exclusive to gen 7 only. I really think they pushed z-moves over megas so that moving forward they wouldn’t feel obligated to carry them over and they can move onto the next gimmick.

          • Yeah I doubt it. They constructed megas so that they’re tied to the lore of the pokemon now. It’s an alternate form in a sense. You really can’t leave out forms. Z-moves, while some are exclusive to certain mons, are just moves. It won’t affect lore to leave them out or say you can only use them in Alola, where the z bracelets are not easy to make or come by. How would we even get them in another region?

          • Simple:
Some important gen 8 character is from Alola. They give you a Z-ring and in post game you can collect Z-stones from a battle facility, like mega stones in Sun/Moon

          • But how did they get an extra..? You have to be recognized as worthy to even get one. That’s why a select few in Alola have them. I don’t think a guardian deity would give someone an extra. All you need for a mega band is a key stone, which, while rare, seem to be available all over.

          • Can she even do that? What I think is more likely is a new mechanic that’s similar to z-moves, but tweaked. So no dancing and shorter animations.

          • Probably just with a new item that does Z-moves and Mega Evolution, like they do different Mega bracelets etc each time.

          • I just doubt it. It would be so easy for them to say they’re exclusive, while they just can’t do that with megas. (Well, they could, but everyone would be pissed)

          • I guess so, I’m not sure how bad removing Z-moves now would be, the effect it would have on competitive etc.

          • I think there will be a similar replacement. It just won’t be called z-moves and all of the pokemon-exclusive moves are left in gen 7.

          • Yeah I really think that the dances and such will stay gen 7 as it’s “part of the alola culture” as they have basically described it

    • Z move: Spare time
      Signature to dialga
A three minute z move where the player is allowed to make a quick sandwhich before coming back so they gain satisfaction
