Pokémon Playhouse App Announced

An unexpected new app has been announced called Pokémon Playhouse and is aimed at children 3-5. Some of you, as I have seen on Twitter, are parents so this could be something to give your budding Pokémon fan before they’re able to play a game from the main series!

In Pokémon Playhouse, your child can interact with all kinds of cute Pokémon as they explore various locations, including a tower, lounge, and outdoor playground. Every location within Pokémon Playhouse features activities created just for younger Pokémon fans, such as taking care of Pokémon in the Pokémon Grooming activity, or identifying Pokémon in the night sky in the Search the Stars activity.

Two things I’ll commend the Pokémon Company for doing are offering no in-app purchases to young players and also promising not to collect any personal information from the app. Great move!

We won’t be covering much more about the game going forward since it isn’t aimed at anyone reading the site, but here’s an FYI for those of you with kids!

  1. I don’t do spin offs especially on mobile. End of Story.
Since I posted on last article:
So my team for usum looks to be
    Torracat
Alola Golem (or graveler depending on me)
    Shiny Lurantis
    Lycanrock
    Pallossand
    Kommo-o

I’m very OK with some changes and updates to it depending on the new Pokemon we get. Specifically to Kommo-o I really am regretting having it on the team. Gimme a vigoroth or sealeo or anything. Just don’t wanna use it. Pallossand can be switched too. More Johto Alola forms and signature moves and old Pokemon decide what will switch
    What’s your team?

  2. IOS11 Looks really nice… the pure white and gray colour scheme going on almost anywhere looks great with the „you have 5% of battery left” notification.

  3. Depending on how complex the game is and the online features, I am probably going to be spending all of my free time until USUM playing this app. They better include trading this time!

  4. So I wanted to tell y’all something interesting, I had a Pokemon dream a few nights ago

It was weird but I saw a Tyrantrum and a Granbull biting one another then trying to bite me it’s weird… but maybe it was a premonition of me losing my teeth….

  5. I kind of wish I had waited to play through Johto again until now…. Over the summer I started HG and now I’m finally about to beat the main campaign. I already attached to the team I have so I don’t really want to stop here and start over in GS. Plus I have a shiny Ho-oh in this now so I don’t want to leave this game unfinished. Maybe I’ll play Gold or Silver later on again when It’s not so fresh in my mind. this is my team by the way hahaha https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/0be4ca745e3552724659899be23ba135f43133828aaaea8500ce95f29aa472c1.png

    • oh nice i really like this team. i still dont know which starter i want. i didnt realize i liked all of the johto starters. I may make a team that is similar to a team i use in colosseum from what i remember

    • that’s a solid team too! I used both Typhlosion and Ampharos in my original HG run and they were fun. I ended up using Heracorss in a failed rerun of HG later on, but I loved it so much I transferred it up. I’ve wanted to use Tyranitar for a while to. I just wish Lavritar was more available earlier on. XP

        • Yeah? Well that’s a shame. I’ll have to remember that if I ever go back and replay again. (we’ll see if that ever happens haha) Either way I’d like to use it eventually. Not a fan of Mega Tyranitar, but it normally is pretty baller.

          • It’s pretty easy to glance over that Larvitars even there, so I understand. Additionally, it’s encounter rate is very low, so it might take a while to find.

  6. I like the iOS11 update, but one thing bothers me and thats how they’ve again failed to add a 4G button to the control center.

  7. I watched the first 3 episodes of OK KO. It was really good, wouldn’t call it amazing tho. Does it get better, or is it always just nice?

  8. So we have only had one trailer so far for Pokemon Playhouse, but I just found out that Gamexplain already has a 20 minute video of the game. It has been 107 days since USUM has been revealed and the total amount of time that Gamexplain has spent talking about it is-I an estimating- about 35 minutes. Welp, I now know what Gamexplain is really interested in covering.

    • Se this is my problem with GameXplain. Sometimes it’s fun to listen to them, but most of the time it’s just rambling about a trailer that has no real info. They just make up stuff and then say “Haha I guess we’ll just have to wait and see” It’s so annoying and AAAAALLLLLL of them do it too…….

      • What you said is true, but that is the appeal of Gamexplain. Sometimes our community feels information starved even when we get info. Poketubers take advantage of this by making claims that they have access to insider info or with Lick air titles of videos that are also unreasonably long. However, Gamexplain does not fall to clickbait, they might make long videos but they are upfront that this is only speculation.

        • I’ agree that they are never clickbait-y. that much I can give them, but that doesn’t change the fact that their videos don’t have longevity and often end up having them sound like idiots hahaha

        • I know…I just wish they would talk about more interesting things rather than much of the stupid things they do. There’s a good way to speculate without just making stuff up and acting like it could be real just because you thought of it. Either way I still enjoy watching at times even if I have problems with them a lot hahaha

We had an hour and 30 minutes and my buds at art club all helped paint it and I was really stressed the entire time but it’s done and I’m super excited and I’m going to be walking past the elementary and middle schools as well as my high school in the homecoming parade while holding it and I’m really pumped omg

  11. Well before I go to bed I must tell you something

I never knew how creeped out I am over bugs cause I just had to chase a big friggin grasshopper around my house and when I cornered it, I shuddered at it, then when I had it cupped in my hands I was getting squeamish at it

Well now that it’s gone (I threw it out my front door) I’m saying goodnight

  12. Know what? As much as I love every last one of you here (with one exception, you know who you are), I feel like I wanna get to know all y’all more. So just drop a random fact or so about yourself here if you don’t mind . It may be fun!

  13. So let me get this straight: I have to choose between buying Gold/Silver on Amazon to get an exclusive theme but no Celebi code, or going through the eShop to get a standard theme and 2 Celebis? Fun times.

    Reply
    • Pretty much. And I am pretty sure the version you get from the eShop changes which theme you get from there so basically you have to get a third one, two of the same one to get everything. It is lame but hey whatever right this is awesome right? No?

    • Why would Necrozma have a unique one. Sol/Lun/Nec are probably all just one if they have one. But that carrying case is like weird. Doesn’t have enough spaces for every crystal.

  14. Those three mystery toys apparently aren’t even anything new this whole time? Weird they would be revealed before the 29th like they were supposed to be but eh. It is more odd that they aren’t the new UB that were announced and why they kept them a secret. Oh well that mystery is solved and we still got two actual new things anyways that the toys didn’t hint at.

  15. And two more mystery items were revealed a while back.https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJtvti7WAAI-_im.jpg Plus there is still the “Battle Wheel” mystery thing. But those mystery items don’t necessarily mean anything actually new though sadly. And a pin. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJr5J3iXoAAk9vN.jpg But this one seems unlikely to be anything new. Potentially new Pokeballs too that would be weird though to be honest. And a kid figurine mystery maybe? But is likely not new. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DJg-1lRWAAEhH-U.jpg

  16. I have a synchronize Abra in the first slot, yet the Celebi keeps having random natures. I thought this was impossible with mystery gift?

  17. Marshadow is #402 in the USUM Alola Dex, Cosmog is #387. I’ll let you do the math, just got out of bed and cba to use my head rn lol

    Reply
    • That’d make Lunala #390, and seeing as Necrozma is #400, we have nine Pokemon in between: the seven OG UBs, plus Burst and Assembly.

      Reply
      • This also lines up with the number of new Pokémon in the Dex: Cosmog’s new Pokédex number is 98 higher than its SuMo one, meaning there is 98 Pokémon added to the Pokédex before it, whilst it has two new Pokémon after it (not counting anything that goes past Marshadow).

Seeing as we’ve seen Meinfoo in battle, and that the majority of Pokemon we see in battle during trailers are in the Pokédex, we have 96 open slots for new Pokémon in the Alola Dex. If Ride Mantine isn’t Charizard 2.0 then we can also expect the Mantine and Octillery lines in the new Dex, bringing it down to 92 open slots. If the theories surrounding Island Scan Pokemon becoming part of the Dex are correct, that leaves us with 8 open slots, however removing starters from that puts it at 26 slots.

Tl;dr only two new Ultra Beasts but a lot more common Pokemon, maybe Alolans
