Welcome to PokéMemes!

In the past some have accused us of being the “Buzzfeed of Pokémon”… capitalizing off of clickbait and rumors. They were wrong of course, it’s all high-class entertainment here and our commentors only put their glasses of wine down long enough to tap out responses below articles. That idea though, a Buzzfeed of Pokémon, didn’t sound too bad. And now I’m happy to announce that it doesn’t look so bad either! PokéMemes @ PokéJungle is now officially OPEN! Click the banner below to learn how to get started!

Why open a meme-oriented site? Besides providing a human necessity (humor), it also fills a gap for people who want to share Pokémon related GIFs, images, memes, polls and quizzes when news is slow. We sometimes struggle to even have an article worth of information a day because of the nature of running a niche-focused site, but there’s really no limit on the humorous and fun Pokémon-related content you can create or share. It sets up a place to relax and have a more regular stream of posts that YOU can contribute too!

Find something on Tumblr, Reddit, or Twitter? Share it! There’s even room to credit the creator! There’s even a dedicated meme-creator so you can add text to any Pokémon image you want!

MAKE A MEME CONTEST: Make your own meme and we’ll feature some of the best in upcoming social media posts! Your own meme could be seen by a whopping… like… 10 or 12 people!! (But seriously though, apparently almost 34,000 people care enough to follow us on Twitter now!) We’ll also be looking for future moderators based on activity and quality of posts!

Please try it out and let’s try, together, to grow this little seedling of a site into a full-fledged Berry Tree (sorry, my mind was drawing a blank on a decent Pokémon joke there).

Also: enjoy your weekend trainers!

  1. So let me lay down the details
My Mother forced me to this video game place that does events and this night’s event was Pokemon Gold & Silver, the objective was 3 groups of 4 played GS and that you accumulate points based on meeting certain criteria; Leveling Pokemon, collecting items, beating trainers, significant battles, gym leaders ect.
And every five points lets you roll for stuff in the store like a free candy or soda, store credit or even a plushie or t-shirt

So naturally I dominated with flying colors and was making calls and making plays and I got so much credit to buy the copy of gold I worked on, and for a steal of only 25 bucks

And I got farther than anybody else all the way to Morty https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e4618a51972a1e018c190e80e0b2643a9f627f5f3a6b41ec499b2368625deee7.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/796e6c93d7db1d397b07959ba6c154aa25e14f970105f3139e9e32e161c38e9e.jpg

    • I wouldn’t get hopes up TOO high. It COULD be something, but who knows at this point. Since we know almost nothing about USUM. It’s not like we can really say for sure that’s a new form or whatever just yet. That said they typically do keep things hidden like this when they aren’t ready for reveals. Plus it comes out a month before USUM do so it could be a new Alolan form or something lol

  2. hmm not a fan of this tbh. I dont like memes because they are annoying to see all over the internet. didnt like the whole Nebbie one. You start off by saying people call this place the buzzfeed of pokemon capitalizing on rumors. the thing is, this is what you do lol. You post any rumor you see on 4chan or something. IMO it would be better to just save any rumors and speculation to the comments. Also you say “it also fills a gap for people who want to share Pokémon related GIFs, images, memes, polls and quizzes when news is slow.” I dont think this requires a name change with a focus on memes. Let the readers do so anyway…which they do anyway? this site does have a lot of activity even when the news is slow dont forget that. tbh i feel like this is a way to allow unrelated or irrelevant comments on your articles

  3. A bit busy to report on my nuzlocke but here is a list to honor those who have passed since I last did so. Bat the Crobat passed away against Lurantis and Castform. Melody the Cottonee passed away against Olivia’s Lycanrock and his Continental Crush. Both Zushi the Mudbray and Kurapika the Oricorio passed away against Hau’s Raichu. My team a strong of now consists of Biscuit Krueger the Wishiwashi, Alluka Zoldyck the Shiinotic, Neferpitou the Torracat, and cue drumroll Gon the Golisopod!!! Now I am off to catch more Pokemon in Mawile city and Maile Garden to restock my team. Not a huge fan of my reserves at the moment.

  4. Hmm weird.
    In the International Pokemon tournament
In Masters a guy from Chile is using Porygon-Z with an Evolite and is using all Fully evolved Pokemon and no way to switch items? I wonder if the site mixed up and meant Porygon 2

  5. Awesome!! My Golbat evolved into Crobat at lvl 29. That was sooner than I thought it would. Whelp now I just need Donphan and my team will be complete. Too bad I’ll have to wait until I get to Blackthorn……..I wish I could at least get it in the Safari zone, but alas. Now I’m gonna take down Chuck’s gym and then Jasmine’s gym. I already unlocked Jasmine’s gym and was going to take it down first, but my Slugma needs a little more training before it can go up against her. lol

  6. So the more and more I think of Kanto remakes in the style of SuMo, the more I like it. Kanto could use some serious improvements such as streamlining it a bit because it has an issue with being a bit too unfocused, and honestly seeing it and Johto in 3D actually kinda appeals to me a lot since I’ve always found the region bland. And heck, maybe we can add more visuals like flowers and stuff to make it prettier. Plus you could add new stuff like:

    – Kanto native Pokémon introduced in Gen II: Houndour, Murkrow, Larvitar, Misdreavus, and Slugma.

    – Mt. Silver, to explain how Red got there. Could also house non-Kanto Pokémon.

-Maybe involve Looker based on that theory he was on the S. S. Anne?

-Sevii Islands: maybe with a Z-Crystal related post game to reference Alola?

    – Evos and prevos of Kanto native Pokémon (Kingdra, Porygon-Z, Sylveon, Rhyperior, Pichu, Igglybuff) to help with type issues

-Mega Evolutions, also to assist in type balancing as well as difficulty

Etc etc, it could all be really cool :0

      • Next year it’ll be fourteen years since the last game Kanto wasn’t a compressed messed stuck to Johto’s arse

        Reply
          • Why tho? It’s the most popular region and the most iconic, so it makes sense to pander to fans and pretty much anyone with the most recognisable stuff

And besides minor things such as getting the Kanto starters (which get Megas to make them differ) Kanto legends, and the two forests having identical layouts, Kalos isn’t that much like Kanto like at all. Actually I’d say it’s closer to Hoenn tbh, because they both shook up the franchise with new mechanics and follow the same structure of ‘Gyms, evil team, legend, climax, continue’

          • Genwunners are fans

And no other region gets that treatment because no other region started the franchise and started the whole phenomena

          • No they’re not. They’re just 90s kids that stopped playing after GSC. Most of them probably don’t even own a 3DS.

And who gives a fuck if it started the series? Is every Mario game going to have a level that is just level 1-1 from the first game?

Move on. Kanto has had enough time. If you want to fix a region, do it to Kalos that fucking needs it. Not the region that has 4 versions to choose from.

Kanto doesn’t deserve anything special. It’s the first region. Who cares. You have 6 other ones that are probably better

If they like the first Gen or two, they are still a fan of part of Pokémon, and may like future Gens. You don’t have to like a whole franchise to be a fan.

Mario does reference the first few games. Constantly. Whether it’s small cameos or the 2D segments in Odyssey, references do happen.

Kanto’s ‘special treatment’ is always optional, anyways. Megas? You can pick Megas from three other regions, five counting Audino and six counting Diancie.

Z-Moves and Alola Forms? Celebrating the franchise’s routes on its anniversary, as well as the oldest Pokémon in the games which were given attention and we’ve yet to see if they’ll be exclusive to Kanto mons too.

Also, Kanto in HGSS isn’t the same as Kanto by itself, because it has a different (read as: non-existent) plot, has to deal with the aftermath of Johto’s shitty level curve, and has different Pokémon and trainer distribution. Kanto itself also has very little lore and backstory unlike all the other regions, and still hasn’t been incorporated into the new timeline, which can be fixed with remakes.

          • If they aren’t playing the games then why pander to them? Why pander to ten with a region that just sucks and has been overdone?

And there’s a difference between referencing and A FULL ON REMAKE. They remade the early games for GBA and that was it. They’re not going to make Super Mario Bros 3D anytime soon. You know why? Because there is no point.

And the special treatment being optional? What do you mean? THEY ARE IN ALL OF THE NEW MECHANICS. Want to use an exclusive Z-Move? Better hope it’s a starter or Marshadow or its gen 1. And I’m fine with celebrating its roots, but it’s 20 years of Pokémon not just 1996. We had 6 whole gens in that time and no gen 2-6 Pokémon got any sort of special attention other than like… Zygarde.

And it’s different in HGSS… yeah? So? It’s still Kanto. Your Kanto remake exists. It’s called Fire Red and Leaf Green. We don’t need full remakes just for lore. You can do that without making a remake of a remake.

          • > Kanto sucks? Opinion.

            > Exclusive Z-Moves? Only non event, pre-champion Kanto Z-Moves is Pikachu. Whereas you can get starters and AloChu (which is a new addition) before you beat the champion and without events.

            > Because Gens 2-6 aren’t as marketable, simple as. The whole point of Kanto pandering is to get Genwunners and non fans into it. It also gave buffs to several Pokémon which whilst not huge is still attention.

            > Because Kanto is a whole different experience in Johto games, so it isn’t really comparable to a game set in Kanto with an actual plot.

            > The difference between Pokémon and Mario is that Pokémon actually regularly makes remakes, Mario usually just does ports and re-releases. Apples and oranges. A Pokémon Kanto remake is probably going to be more different from its source material than just making the first Mario game 3D.

          • It is heavily flawed. They got better at regional design overtime.

Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax, Mew all got Z-Moves. Alolachu is an Alolan form of a Kanto pokemon.

Bullshit. Hoenn remakes were a huge deal. People are clambering for Gen 4. Gen 5 has dedicated fans. It’s Pokémon. It’s all marketable.

It’s still Kanto. It’s been on the Game Boy, GBC, GBA and Nintendo DS with two 3DS games heavily basing many things off of Kanto. It’s time to stop.

Why. Remake. A. Game. Already. Remade. 4. Times.

          • I’ll just chime in real quick. I don’t think they’re gonna remake Kanto any time soon. I think Gen 6 drawing heavily from Kanto (*cough* shameless copying mostly *cough*) and the big focus on Gen 1 pokemon in Gen 7 are supplementing them doing a full on remake or sequel to Kanto. Who knows though! The only real wild card is that they sent Lillie to Kanto and I don’t think this is the last we’ve seen of her. She could always return in a different region or USUM if they’re sequels. It doesn’t necessarily mean we have to go to Kanto to see her again. Just my two cents

          • So if it’s super heavily flawed, why not remake and improve it?

Even so, Alolan Z Crystals are the only ones given to you automatically, the rest you have to seek out.

Snor and Mew are event, Eevee is post. Only Z-Moves you’re guaranteed to get are your starters and if you catch it, the Tapu’s.

Just because other Gens are popular doesn’t make Gen 1 any less popular lol

They’ve only remade the game once already, HGSS contains a compressed mess called Kanto that’s different from the one in FRLG and RGBY

          • Honestly Kalos needs more help with a remake than Kanto. I wouldn’t completely mind going back to Kanto though if it’s 150% revamped and a sequel and not a remake. That said, I’d rather see Sinnoh in 3D

          • I think that a sequel would help Kalos more than a remake, it’s too soon for a Remake, but i’m surprised that Kalos didn’t even get a third version at all

          • Yeah, that’s kinda what I meant. Kalos needs something. Anything.. it’s kinda salty they took zygarde complete and then just put it in a different region instead of giving it a sweet storyline in Kalos

          • Those remakes are already way out of date. Having another remake or sequel is not an outrageous possibility.

          • Santalune forest = Viridian. Literally Identical
            Free Kanto Starters
            Kanto starters got Megas
            Mewtwo in a cave
            Mewtwo got 2 megas
Legendary Birds being only the other legendaries in post game along with Mewtwo..
            Snorlax blocking path

Probably more honestly. There are definitely similarities and nods

          • Those are all just references and nods tho, they’re a bunch of small references, not ‘omfgee literal carbon cope!!?!?’

          • Well santalune forest at least is. Idk, X&Y were way too homage-y and were more concerned with catering to genwunners than focusing on making a good game. Maybe it’s not a copy, but they had a clear agenda

          • Santalune Forest still has unique trainers and encounters tho, so it isn’t even that bad of a homage. Like literally how tf does that annoy anyone lol

          • I’m just saying…they marketed kanto a lot during the X&Y hype season. Santalune was identical to Veridian and at the beginning of the game so genwunners returning to the series (who they marketed towards) would feel nostalgic

    • Yeah I’d honestly be down with a game set in Kanto again. I think the reason people are sick of it is that every time we’ve gone to it in the past there hasn’t been much in the way of scenery. Fill it out like Alola was and give it more life. If they do that then it’ll become exponentially more interesting. Make the world feel like there’s constantly something going on and that basically fixes Kanto.

      Reply
    • So true, they could expand the region so much and make it so much more interesting, the Kanto region reallly has a lot of potential :0

      Reply
    • Also we need to bring Kanto and Johto into the Mega Evolutions time line, Hoenn, Alola and Kalos are in Mega timeline(s?) and with the inevitable remakes Sinnoh will be too

      Reply
      • You included Mega Evolutions in your list, so that wouldn’t automatically put the games in the Megas timeline?

        Reply
        • I’m just saying that Kanto hasn’t been brought into it rn in Canon, so I’m listing another reason why it should happen

          • Don’t really think the edgy atheist thing of comparing a shitty Internet meme to something central to tons of people’s lives is exactly appropriate lol, and this is coming from an agnostic

          • Pennywise is a celestial entity millions of years old with powers, just because Steven King created it, doesn’t mean it’s more or less possible than a different celestial entity

          • Except we know Pennywise is fictional and has no impact on people’s lives, like literally no one cares if Pennywise is fictional or not

And no one heres attacked you over not having any belief system soooo

          • If a guy 2000 years ago told everyone that Pennywise (that was written a long time before he was born) was real, it would have as much inpact on people’s lives as the bible

          • Doubt it lol, Christianity has basis in Judaism which was around for even longer which means longer to gather possible ‘evidence’ and for it to become a core of people’s lives.

And you don’t see rational Christians screaming ‘something cant come from nothing’ so get your head out of your ass it ain’t a fedora son

          • Many Christians straight up hate people of other beliefs, I don’t think joking about them is that bad

          • So you’re making fun of an entire group just because on a thing that probably the minority does? ?

          • There’s making fun of and then belittling it lol, this shit just came out of nowhere and it’s obvs serious lol

    General Thoughts on psychic types!

    Reply
    • Fav: Sabrina and Gallade
      Least: Olympia and Jynx

It’s an interesting type nonetheless, the designs of these Pokemons are simply unpredictable, they can be anything! It’s also one of the strongest, their attacks do so much damage and are so useful, I just wish we got better psychic types this gen tbh :/

      Reply
    • Fave Pokémon: Hard one for Pokémon! Hmm, when push comes to shove, I’d have to say Espeon. I would say AloChu, but it being psychic has nothing to do with me liking it. On the other hand, Espeon is a sleek, simple design that’s both down to earth yet surrounded in enigma and mystery.

Fave leader: I’d have to say Lucian, just because of how difficult he is and even tho he’s just kind of an underdeveloped stereotype they establish his personality well with no nonsense.

Least fave Pokémon: Probably Claydol, I forget it exists half the time. It’s kinda tied with Solrock and Lunatone tho, Hoenn as a whole for me is a sea of bland with islands of amazing.

Least fave leader: Liza and Tate, never. Ever. Have struggled with them in ORAS. Literally just use surf and you’re good. Also I just kinda find the whole ‘twin connection’ thing to be boring and overplayed. At least Sabrina has being an actress and Will I found difficult. Liza and Tate for me are just…. Eh

Honourable mentions to the Cosmog line, Gothitelle,Reiniclus and Olympia, all are really cool but get beaten out.

General thoughts? Overall I like Psychic types, just not as much as other types. Theres an interesting variety of designs but the type itself I feel can be too varied. It centers around the mind, yet also includes space for some reason? Kinda hope GF separates ‘Cosmic’ if they ever have to make another type.

    • Favorite Leader: Liza and Tate. These twins are amazing. The first only only gym leader to not use Single battles, and despite them being awfully easily in ORAS and RS. I had the pleasure of battling them originally in Emerald. Man… This two actually have made me cry multiple times. Their team has so much strategy its amazing. They also have cool designs. Blue hair is cool
FP: Solgaleo. When I first saw this thing I knew I wanted Pokemon Sun. I liked it but something I was crazy for. After seeing its typing, using it in battle (competitive) and just hearing its awesome cry. I just loved it. The sleek white Body the steel typing. This Pokemon is the true lion pokemon we always needed. It is also my favorite legendary pokemon.

LL: Will. I always forget his name. Just shows how memorable he is. He just isn’t a good trainer at all IMO. Like has anyone ever had difficulties with Will. Lucian outshines him in every aspect.
LP: Unown. This worthless pathetic stupid ugly dumb pokemon is worthless, pathetic, stupid, ugly, and dumb. Who’s idea was it making this pokemon. It doesn’t even do anything. I hate it so much. Just so pathetic!

General thoughts: I love psychic types they are on the upper side of my favorite types. Psychic is just a cool move I cant resist. They are also just a powerful type and arguably the strongest special attacking type in the game. Truly wonderful.
