Magikarp Jump Launches WORLDWIDE! Hints & Tips Inside

The free-to-pay title Magikarp Jump can now be downloaded in North America and other regions on iTunes and Google Play! The official site has been updated with a page about the game and a trailer has also been released in English.

Joe Merrick, owner of Serebii.net, shared his thoughts about how to progress the fastest after playing for a week:

  1. Power up the food over Training. Food is a quicker way of getting JP.
  2. Don’t spend Diamonds on Coin Sacks. It can be tempting, but the coin value you get increases as you level up.
  3. Decoration effects will still be active even if not on display. Get the Whimsicott Cushion first, then Shaymin Planter for their boosts

    • I’ve actually been enjoying it. Its pretty fun for what it is, if a little grindy and it does get to absurd levels later with food providing 100k’s of points and needing to have millions of points to win the final fight. I think Joe managed to win around his 53 generation.

    two extremely similar pokemon are conflicting me to the point i will boot one

    Cerenapse/Teslaozoa
    which are Psychic/Electric gelatinous jellyfish/octopi that use scary strong psychokinetic brainwaves to do nearly everything, its on par with Alakazam and Meowstic
    and
    Cerecelium or Percelium/Saprosmic (both the names conflict with each other and one other pokemon which makes me feel bad)
    which are Grass/Psychic extraterrestrial fungus pokemon born from irradiated space dust, small but smart and possessing strong psychokinesis that is so powerful the excess energy leaks out

    i like them both but they’re too much alike, and i like their type combos but i don’t want to have two brain themed pokemon at once it’ll ruin their credibility

            Teslaozoa are potentially dangerous they actually sense the slightest spark from a person’s brain and will attempt to feed on the energy via brain harvesting
            so yeah if you see one thing stupid thoughts so you seem less appetizing

          • its a tiny hooded spirit pokemon that spends its entire life searching for a person it has the exact same aura with
            and once it finds its match it never leaves them
            then becomes Ghostalker into Greaper

          • pure Ghost then Ghost/Steel
            they have a signature ability Ethereal Body which grants them a 10% chance for moves to phase through them but they do not get double team

            and Greaper’s coiled head tightens and unfurls depending how much time you have left,

          • fairly high attack and low physical defense
            Spectini evolves around level 35 then Ghostalker evolves by friendship

      • Ehh, it just happens for one reason or another. And really the BIG leak is probably one that was better to leak. It honestly could be something that would get people irrationally upset with the show and drop it depending on how they handled it, and honestly they probably went above and beyond peoples expectations at this point with it.

          • Alright, lets try this. Spoilers:

            So a big things that was leaked was a key frame hinting that a character was going to die, who seemed to be most likely Lars. However the key frame was timed almost at the end of an episode which made it seem like it was going to be a big cliffhanger and the persona who posted it typed Lol, making people question if it was a real death or not. The big leak not only fully explains that scene, but reveals new characters, more information about Steven/Rose, brings up some very interesting questions about that character and who you’ll immediately compare them too, pretty much an all but guarantee that the character in question will pretty much become a new member of the team like Connie, and a very subtle hint that we’ll finally see White Diamonds design. All of this from a 1:30 clip, and why I say this is probably for the better. People never handle death in shows very well, and knowing exactly how the show’s handling this case will keep people at ease since really it is kinda blowing my expectations for the show out of the water. When it was said that Rebecca Sugar was kinda forcing things along to tell this specific part of the story and hoping for the best; I can see that she chose wisely because this 4 parter really will only make the show better and feels like its answering the questions that really nobody seemed to be asking until they were answered.

  95. What I love about pwt is the difficulty can vary (when Im doing triples rental) I win every once in a while, its never 100%. And thats fine because its fun to me. Im fighting Clay and seeing him use froslass is kindsa silly, buts all so fun. Rental chal challengex Triples is the best. I wish I could play through BW2 again on challaneg mode

  118. My thoughts on ARMS: The 1v1 matches are a blast, but I hate everything else. V-Ball feels like one of the minigames they include in kirby games but with a lot less depth, 2v2 is overly chaotic, and 3-for-all matches make no sense. Why am I only allowed to target one player that I don’t even get to choose? On a more positive note, I absolutely love the 1v1 matches, which is the main point of the game, so that’s awesome. I’m just dissapointed that you can’t choose what you want to do in the demo.

    Side note: how do you charge your rush thingy? I haven’t been able to figure that out yet.

        And I want to see the “other half” for all the z moves we have now. And by other half I mean since most Z moves have the same animation for physical and special, I want to see a split. One animation for physical, and one for special. I know its WAY too much to ask for.

    Spelunkore Town: This town is located within a cave and is known for the miners who inhabit it and the beautiful gems that line the walls of the cave. Mining activities are important to the town but the dragons who inhabit the caverns around it are feared and respected by all. Trainers are not respected until they pass through this town and beat its leader.

    Sørenstone Village: Despite the the location of this village, the land is fertile and full of life. This mountaintop village touches the clouds so bird Pokemon typically roam the village. The inhabitants are known to praise and worship flying types as if they were deities. Each family owns a Noivern as a sign of their membership in the town and it is rare for other people to obtain one.

    Coreef Dome: As an artificial area beneath the waves that is known for incorporating the wildlife into marvelous innovations, the entire town glows bright from liquified Marvineon scales that line the roads of the dome. The gym leader of the town has created a device that allows people to breathe underwater. This town sparsely receives tourists due to its rather hidden location.

    Vesuvi Outpost: This area is known for being difficult to get to and even harder to inhabit. Due to it being in the middle of a volcano, evacuation drills are mandatory for its residents. Rumors state that artifacts and gems lie within the volcanoes walls, making this the ideal living location for those with an adventurous heart (and don’t fear death).

    Joholli Town: This town lies in a snowy field near a mountain and is most frequently used as a rest stop for travelers wandering the frigid landscape.. It always has clear skies. Although it is known as a town full of joy and cheer, an avalanche leveled the entire town only a half a year ago the town is still rebuilding. Regardless, the townsfolk simply sprung back up without much sadness towards their lost town. The Gym Leader of the town has a different opinion on this..

I just watched the episode with Kiawe’s family and the way they treat Ash like a child where he has to ask Kukui if he can go with Kiawe is a little much.   162. Speaking of smash bros. I would like to know What type of characters do you like to play as? and What characters are your mains and what are some you just enjoy?

    Personally, I play as lightweights , and medium speed characters. I especially enjoy defensive. Thus causing a little dabble in heavy weights.
    My mains are Definitely Lucas and Zelda. Lucas for amazing zoning spiffy hair, and PK love. Zelda with her sass, my enjoyment of Zelda games, and her amazing defensive walling.
    I enjoy Marth Lucina Robin Roy because I like sword characters
    I like Falco just for his Aerial Power,
    Lastly for my heavyweights I play as Charizard a lot actually, hes in tthird place for most kills on my game, I also enjoy some Ike and Ganondorf.

    • I think the problem with the motion controls is that it’s tiring. Sure it feels fun to use, but at a certain point there’s only so much actual punching and flailing around you can do before you get tired. Also I’d say the controls are weird in general. It’s not a bad thing, but they definitely take a few matches to get used to. lol

    • play every character till you find a few playstyles you like and work with that. always aim for the head for critical damage, and switch heroes if you feel like your not doing good, no one would judge ( well some will but ignore them)

    • * Mess around with sensitivity until you get it just right. Some characters like Widowmaker work better with slower sensitivity

      * Find a character to main from each section. An attack, defense, tank, and a healer. Overwatch games are I part decided by your team comp so if you have five attackers and a Mei, you won’t get too far. So it’s good to be suffecient in many characters

      * Find one character you love the most and devote your entire existence to that character. I reccomend Tracer.

      * Learn the maps well. There are lots of nooks and crannies that certain characters can take advantage of. For example, Volskya Industries has a little shortcut on the left side that Pharah, Dva and Lucio can get to that allows them to flank the team.

      * Communicate. Less important in quickplay but in competitive it is super important. If you don’t have a mic, be sure to have the voice channel on and communicate using voice lines or the speech options.

      * Observe enemy behavior. Many characters have certain tactics they use often. Some examples are Symmetra turrets all in one spot (usually a gate or a choke point), Tracer throwing a bomb then rewinding away, Mercy pocketing Pharah so she can fly, and Lucio knocking you off a cliff.

      *Know how to avoid ultimates. Each character has plenty of ways to avoid ults even if it’s just more mobility. DVA can eat Hanzo dragon arrows, Tracer Bombs, etc. and Mercy can fly to another player to escape Zarya ults.

      * Stick with your team. Unless you’re flanking or distracting them at the point, you should be with your team. Healers aren’t going to go out of their way to heal you if you are on the other side of the map.

      * Combine ultimates. Knowing the exact time to Ult is essential. Having a Zarya group up the team into one point so you can Rip Tire or Pulse Bomb them is amazing

      * Use guides for your mains

      * Thank your healer. They will appreciate it.

    • Like you get sandwiched in between two people and you can’t do anything but take damage and dash out on your invincibility frames. Frames that you can’t even tell are happening. You can grab someone and continue a combo if your opponent doesn’t dodge like in smash, you just have to wait for them to get up. Uhggggg

        • The camera is where most of the problems come from. It’s hard to tell exactly from what angle you should attack from so grabs are always going to be better. It also causes situations in 3v3 where you can’t see where all of the players are so you get hit from behind.

          3 for all is just not fun at all. You get grabbed when grabbing someone else, no one can see each other or the environment, punches hit each other and cancel each other out… what is happening.

          Just fix the camera, make it easier to move around, and maybe add a minimap

  195. I think my major problem with the camera is it’s rigidness. During 1vs1, Vball, and 2vs2 matches it’s more or less fine, but once you get into the free for all it becomes incredibly hard to tartget the right opponent and swap between who you want to attack. It basically locks you onto one person and until someone else comes directly in front of you it’s super hard to change your target. This makes for a very frustrating blind spot and often leads to people ganging up on one person until it just becomes a 1vs1 match………all that said I love this game hahaha

  244. I woke up an hour ago briefly, but then decided I needed more sleep. The problem now is that while I got more sleep I missed out on playing Arms…….lol anyway I was looking at the schedules for e3 and the conferences surrounding it. Is this year different than past years? I feel like e3 always started on a Monday that conferences started on Sunday….well I think the conferences still start Sunday, but the schedule looks off tom me for some reason Either way I’m pleasantly surprised to find out I prolly won’t miss any of Nintendo’s stuff. Now I gotta figure out if I’m working during Microsoft or Sony’s presentations. Plus the other major conferences too lol

I meant to mention this before, but when I got my Switch (finally!) a couple weeks ago, the guy at the EB Games where I bought it was talking to me about upcoming games and he said the Nintendo rep had been into the store recently and had essentially confirmed Pokémon would be coming to the Switch!

      • I just can’t…..I don’t have the time or patience right now….I’ve seen a decent amount of episodes on tv just from them being on and whenever I try to watch for real I always get a mix of not feeling like watching them over and feeling like a bunch of episodes are a waste of time. It’s not that I don’t like the show because I really do. I just feel like if I had seen it fresh right from the get go it would have been better for me. Shows like this are hard for me to keep track of and I always end up seeing more than I thought I had only to realize the boring episodes are the only ones I need to get caught up on…..I just have no idea where to begin at this point lol

  252. Finally actually enjoying watching SU. I started after the Zoo episodes and since I haven’t seen any since it’s been quite enjoyable. That’s the major problem I’ve been having. I’ve seen bits and pieces (and full episodes) of the show in the past so I never knew when to really pick it up. Going forward will be much easier for now I think lol

  269. I feel like this is a good time to address SM’s story, since I referenced it in the post below. I feel like the story wasted the potential it was given. It didn’t go in depth on the actual UBs that much, it had a lackluster climax, remeber Type: Null? The story didn’t, not really. It was given this great potential and was hyped up really well, and then turned out to be a pretty safe story by Pokemon standards, with the exception of some well-written characters. Believe me, I wasn’t expecting an arceus totem battle like Lockstin proposed, my hopes weren’t that high, but I at least expected it to use the elements it was given. I feel like they crammed a bunch of interesting stuff in there without actually fleshing any of it out. For example, the Tapu Koko and UB02 cutscene. I thought we would have to assemble to UBs or help them fight the UBs, but none of them other than Nihilego were even in the story. It’s like that cutscene was made just to be used as a trailer, it had no point.

    I feel like I’m rambling on at this point. It wasn’t bad by Pokemon standards, but the build up to the release made me expect more. :/

    • Yeah, the whole UB thing ended up being a poor attempt at filling the already poor postgame when I was expecting much more.

      But atleast I’m glad that they didn’t disappoint in Lillie, she ended up being a great character 😀

      • But she was the only good part about the story. Aether foundation’s motives ended up being stupid, team skull was alright I guess, even the UB stuff in the story wasn’t explored, type: null wasn’t explored, etc.
        It’s like they crammed in stuff just for the sake of having it in there.

  270. My first reaction: Arms is AMAZING…but it requires some effort to get the hang of it. I felt like I learned quite a bit in the hour I had to play. I can definitely say that my mains out of the 7 chosen are Ninjara and Mechanica.

    • I like Minmin and Ribbongirl, but I hate Master Mummy (to fight against, he’s such a pain). Have you tried the pro controller? The motion controls are fun, but the pro controller just gives me much more, for lack of a better word, control.

      • No, I stuck with motion controls the whole time. Next weekend I’ll start with the Pro Controller for some variety. I have to say, I felt pretty bad about my skills for a while, but beating the party leader twice in a row was great. I’m going to be so addicted to this…

  271. Whelp I think I’m a little burned out on Arms for now. I prolly won’t have time to play next weekend and I think that’s ok. I actually really like the game a lot despite it’s major camera flaws, but having to play on a set time schedule is kind of messing with me. I’d rather play at my leisure and not have to think about how if I don’t play now I wont’ be able to play later. Either way I think it’ll be a lot of fun to play with my friends and family and am looking forward to it’s release. I think for now tho I’m good to go another couple of weeks without. When I finally get it I won’t go a moment without muh main man Ninjara. He’s the greatest lol

      • I think the best kids show (and movies for that matter) are friendly enough for kids, but engaging enough for adults. A little bit of suspense and seriousness goes a long way. Shows can be funny, but unless it appeals to all audiences (kids AND their parents) it comes up short.

        • I really hate what they’ve done to the PowerPuff Girls. It was SO GOOD back in the day. It had everything that SU, Adventure Time, and Regular Show have where some episodes are super funny and some are serious. They completely ruined it by changing the very core of what the characters were like…..It’s a real shame. While it was REALLY hard I could get over them recasting the girls, but the dramatic change from how the show was to how it is now is unforgivable…..

        • Oh yes. Lapis becoming girlfriends with the gem that dragged her back to Earth, hurt her only friend in the universe, and worked with her abuser..(or did Lapis abuse Jasper? Idk it’s so poorly written I can’t tell) was great! She rightfully hated Peridot and even destroyed her tape recorder which was actually kinda shitty since Peridot is coded autisic and destroying her comfort item is a really terrible thing to do. Then despite the fact that Amethyst and Peridot clearly had chemistry, Lauren Zuke had to force her ship on the show even though it makes no sense.

          God I fucking hate these characters.

          • I don’t think Lapis would have quite as much of a problem with Peridot as she would with Jasper though. It is Peridot’s fault that Earth was being attacked, but Lapis did make the decision to fuse. Lapis also willing gave Peridot information about Earth before being prisoner.

          • As far as I’m aware, Peridot summoned Lapis to be her informant. After that, she’s imprisoned, but I always felt it was implied that Lapis went to Peridot and Jasper willingly (initially of course). It’s kind of hard to work out the details exactly. We don’t know how they captured Lapis or got into contact with her

          • Well she initially hated the Crystal Gems, no? She says they knew she was trapped in there and did nothing to help her. She comes to “like” (I guess) Steven for helping her out, but she still has some resentment toward the CG when she leaves Earth for homeworld. I think she also said she blamed them for the war and not caring about homeworld. Again, it’s hard to say, and yeah they should have fleshed that out. The way I take it is that Lapis went to Peridot and Jasper willingly perhaps after being called on, gave them some information, but was then imprisoned and further interrogated for being a valuable source.

          • Idk, I kinda think the Lapis and Peri friendship works, but not really a “relationship”. Peridot and Amethyst was FAR more interesting. So sad they dropped that plot line.

          • See, I get your complaint. They really should have progressed their problems over a whole season or maybe even longer. That said, I think their relationship works despite it not being properly developed. It makes sense to me that eventually they’d become to be friends/tolerate one another, but they should have taken more time with. I’m also willing to cut it a tiny bit of slack in the time department since it’s a kids show

          • That “it’s a kids show” argument doesn’t work and you know it. Honestly that’s a bigger insult to the show than anything I could say. Gravity Falls, Avatar, and basically any Disney movie has proven that just because it’s for kids doesn’t mean your story has to be broken.

            Plus they barely have a relationship. They hardly talk to eachother. When was the last time they had a conversation without Steven involved?

          • All I’m saying is that I’ve never seen a perfect show. In Avatar they pulled a bunch of convenient plot details, yet it’s still one of my favorites.

  305. I think one thing I really like about the gem home world and it’s inhabitants is that they all give off a very 1970’s/80’s movie feel. Like that creepy feeling or something……..Like the kind of old movie where right at the end when you think the main characters get out of it all alive you are only left with the realization that the corporation was in control all along…..That kind of feeling if that makes any sense hahaha

    Let’s talk about some fossils. Fossils in Pokemon are actually really cool. Very few of their designs actually disappoint.
    What’s your favorite and least favorite? What are your hopes for future fossils.
    Fav- Definitely ramparados. Even tough gen 6 had the best pair, ramparados is the best. Head Smash as an (ex) signature move was just awesome, and that attack power. Beautiful.
    Worst- Bastiodon. Ew ugly shield face. No thanks. Leave it sinnoh to make a bad fossil
    In the future I want some aquatic fossil Pokemon or if they keep up the unique typing like gen 6 did that would be nice.

    • Fav- Aerodactyl: Back in the good ol’ FireRed days, I always had an Aerodactyl. I remembered how much fun it was demolishing everything with Rock Slide, Hyper beam, and Earthquake. Plus, that 130 speed don’t lie at all.
      Worst- Aurorus: I thought its design was alright, but it was such a pain in the ass to use in X. Too many Fighting and Steel moves took it down in one shot, plus with all of its other plethora of weaknesses it was terrible.
      Anticipating- Desperately want a Rock/Fire or Rock/Electric Velociraptor

      • That’s kind of the appeal though. She’s a character that you learn to love for her personality. Which is that she’s pretty much a big ball of adorable. Kinda sucks though that she’s the only character in Class A that hasn’t had their moment to shine yet, though that might change soon given the current story arc, and it sounds like something that would be really cleaver to pull off for her to be part of a Plan B.

    I get that it’s based on the FRLG version of the gym, but like that’s way too much of a coincidence for it to have the same place where Charizard Seismic Tossed Rhydon and the podium where Giovanni swapped Pokemon.

          • You can assume the Switch version stays perfectly the same and the additional time is spent on downporting/removing incompatible features from the 3DS game.

      • It is possible Many will use the idea of them never doing it before as a reason for them not doing it, but there are good reasons for them never having done it before. Up until recently with gen 6 onward we have never had world wide releases. That means that the messages they wanted to spread would have been divided by a multi month separation and they wouldn’t have a proper set of ads to show to the general public. It wouldn’t make sense for them to show it at e3 if the games were only coming out sooner in Japan and not until much later in the rest of the world. Now it make perfect sense as all eye are on both the games and E3 at the same time. If that makes any sense hahaha

          • The Sapphire can only predict things that just happened, the Rhodolite is the weird one with the Garnety hair. It’s a ruby and pearl fusion apparently. I can’t remember the Twins names, but they’re a defect

          • I’ll try my best. We find out a lot of what happened to Pink Diamond, meet some new gems who are great, Lars shows that he’s amazing and it all has a ton more emotions then we can handle.

          • Blue Zircon hints that perhaps someone close to Pink Diamond, maybe even another diamond was the culprit for her shattering

          • More or less Stevens Lawyer realized that it made no sense for Rose to have destroyed her. She was surrounded by her groupies(I can’t spell the word they called them) which included plenty of gems, her guards, Sapphires that would have seen Rose coming. Even her own pearl. Heck Even Jasper was there. Yet none of them stopped Rose, who wasn’t part of her group, from killing her. They realized the only way this could happen, and then be completely covered up is if she was Killed by one of the Diamonds, and at that point she was blasted for daring to say one of them did it.

As much as i like SU, it feels a little out of place here to me, especially since every comment right now is about it.         • That’s the problem with a lot of the shows on cartoon Network. They have very weird break periods and are super difficult to keep up with.

          • SU though takes time to make the designs and create the storyboard and just write the story in general, why SU is like a real diamond it takes time and effort for nature to forge, but is perfect when its done right so as much as I hate it I understand their reasoning

          • But there are plenty of weekly shows that do a great job designing characters and stories.

          • Milo Murphy’s pretty good though. Its pretty much a sequel show to phineas and Ferb. Its better then you would think, though it was another binge show that pretty much aired its first season, or a good chunk of it over a month and now reairs episodes for syndication. That’s just the style of most shows now. Blame Netflix I guess.

  387. I can’t believe E3 is in less than 2 weeks! My life has been such a whirlwind ever since last month (but really, this whole year) that I’ve barely had time to think about it. I have a really good feeling about this one from all 3 companies. Xbox is presenting the Scorpio, their “last-ditch” effort to recapture an audience, and will undoubtedly make it something worth remembering. Sony will have another year of games, games, games, along with the chance of a PS4 Pro Slim or PSVR2. Nintendo will have their first true E3 in the Switch generation with lots of new games and surprises. From them, I think Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, and Metroid will all have 2018 releases with teases, and we’ll also hear tons about Super Mario Odyssey (HYPE!) I just think this will be a year worth being ecstatic about. It’s also happening the week after graduating high school…there isn’t a much better feeling than that 😛
