Uniqlo x Nintendo Collection Debuts

Brand new, official Pokémon merch is coming to Uniqlo!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_YklfP7u6U

Every year popular Japanese clothing brand, Uniqlo, holds their annual UTGP t-shirt design contest; partnering with major brands and companies such as Pixar and Star Wars in the past – this year’s collaborator was none other than Nintendo! Over 16,000 entries were submitted and judged by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, but ultimately only 25 designs featuring characters and themes from Nintendo properties such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin and, of course, Pokémon, were chosen. Check out the Pokémon designs that made the cut!

The Nintendo collection will be available for purchase on Uniqlo’s online store tonight, and in physical stores worldwide starting tomorrow. More details and the other designs can be found at Uniqlo’s official site.

Will you be picking up one of these wonderfully designed shirts, or do you have a better design in mind? Which one is your favorite? Definitely going to be picking up the Magikarp one!

  1. Ehh, maybe I”m showing my age or Japanese fashion’s kinda different, but these shirts all look pretty bad. Really the only one that looks really good(for men at least) is the Animal Crossing one if only because its kind of well made for a non-english speaker.

    • Yeah I’m still not expecting anything. The most maybe being that the new line of merch is heading west, but that’s about it. Its just someone trying to drum up hype on a basis of nothing solid.

        • He’s a Dataminer yes, but he’s provided no evidence of anything. Like I said the only thing that could slightly hint at something is the 20th is the start of the new merch line, which anyone could claim will come with a new game announcement. I’m remaining skeptical since it seems highly unlikely that they would announce a new main series game that has a tie in merch line that was announced a month before the game was announced to exist. But we’ll see soon enough.

    • I wouldn’t doubt a trailer popping up tomorrow, it’s totally within the realm of possibility. We have to be prepared for everything…

  3. I just found out that we have a Uniqlo store in the downtown area very close to my house! I saw the Nintendo stuff in the window and I was happily surprised. I’ll pick one or two of these up sometime soon.

  6. I got all of the Zelda memories. Uhgggggggg I love her character so much in thisss…. I’m so glad she was fleshed out so well. Especially knowing how another game that tried to flesh out a strong female character went… one that maybe was released for the Wii? One that is part of a franchise that hasn’t had a game for it in years? One that is part of a franchise that released a spinoff that pissed everyone off at E3 2015??? 😛

  7. Pokedex Entry: 89
    Bandibot
    Classification: The Minion Pokemon
    Height: 2’07
    Weight: 43.7
    Type: Steel/Dark
Ability: Mega Launcher/Skill Link (Hidden Ability: Ammo Cache):
    Stats:
    HP: 35
    Attack: 30
    Defense: 50
    Special Attack: 75
    Special Defense: 50
    Speed: 60
    Base Stat Total: 300
Pokedex Entry: This Pokemon is focused on one single goal; stealing. It does not matter what, it just desires to steal. Due to this single mindedness, it frequently ends up doing the dirty work for Pokemon that desire objects for themselves, such as Malcondor. When it discovers that the Pokemon it works for will not share what it stole for it, Bandibot is sent into a frenzy where it attacks all in sight with little success.

    Pokedex Entry: 90
    Mechagade
    Classification: The Rebellious Pokemon
    Height: 3’11
    Weight: 78.9
    Type: Steel/Dark
Ability: Mega Launcher/Skill Link (Hidden Ability: Ammo Cache)
    Stats:
    HP: 55
    Attack: 50
    Defense: 70
    Special Attack: 105
    Special Defense: 70
    Speed: 81
    Base Stat Total: 431
Pokedex Entry: Having grown more wary of its surroundings, Mechagade fights for itself and only for itself. It will violently assault anything that has something it desires until it receives what it desires. If it was duped as a Bandibot, it will relentlessly hunt down the one who tricked it and deal justice to them swift and painfully.

    Pokedex Entry: 91
    Desperobo
    Classification: The Lawless Pokemon
    Height:
    Weight:
    Type: Steel/Dark
Ability: Mega Launcher/Skill Link (Hidden Ability: Ammo Cache)
    Stats:
    HP: 75
    Attack: 66
    Defense: 84
    Special Attack: 137
    Special Defense: 80
    Speed: 103
    Base Stat Total: 545
Pokedex Entry: This Pokemon is considered dangerous by most people due to the brutal fighting style it progresses. It will attack the foe nonstop until they are fainted. Even if they cannot get up, it will continue to attack. Despite this, it views a skilled trainer as a partner and will follow their judgement. They are very rare in the wild because of “safety reasons” taken to ensure the well-being of the nearby public.

I teased this thing so much, here it is

  8. Whelp I’m loving Persona 5! I’m a little more than 3 hours in and have been to the first dungeon. I think I’ll have to return later tho All the adults are such assholes too hahahaha

    • Oh you’ve only scene the start of it. Not really a spoiler but the first dungeon you have to go back too like 3-4 times total at min. Pretty much how its structure works is that you need to reach the treasure, and once there you’ll have to send out a calling card to steal it on the next day and fight the boss of the dungeon. In the first games case though I think its kinda special that as soon as you reach the treasure, the next day you’ll auto send your card, and the third day you’ll fight the boss, so try to make sure you have at least three days before the timer’s up on it. With other dungeons though you might have some sort of wall you have to hit that makes you take more time to clear it. That wall pretty much acts as a treasure for the moment and will start scripted events to clearing it, usually allowing you to reach the treasure on the very next day after taking care of the wall.

As for adults being assholes, yeah a lot of them are. Its kind of a major theme of the game and a big problem in Japan. This old idea that generally because they were worked nearly to death by their superiors, and they survived, it means that they can treat people like crap now as a reward for their hard success and the next generation will do the same. I’d guess that once you meet the Politician(the Sun), he’ll be pretty popular for ya. He’s pretty much fictional Japanese Bernie Sanders, stressing the importance of the youth and their future. But then again most of the adults that you get to know in the game are pretty great, especially Sojiro. He’s kinda great once he starts opening up a lot more and talking about his personal life.

          • It really makes ya wonder how could the possibly top something so utterly breathtaking
I mean I really hate to bring down the room (this way) but what if this is it, no future Zelda game could capture this lightning in a jar again

Still waiting for Minish Cap 2 or the next installment of DS Zelda move em with the stylis thingy
Or Freaking give Link’s Awakening the ALBWs makeover

Just a few small gems to wash ashore while the Breath of the Wild Tsunami breaking things down for a while

          • As game design improves and we get better technology, one day, we will make something better. Thats how it was with Ocarina of Time. When you really think about it, the jump from Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess to Breath of the Wild is a massive one. I’m willing to wait another 10 or 20 years for something like this again.

  10. I grow tired and bored of this day and my tinnitus is setting in so good night jerkwads
Tomorrow I hunt for a Shiny Sandygast
