RUMOR: Nintendo Developing Handheld-Only Switch Mini?

The Nintendo Switch is a hot commodity and has exceeded sales expectations across the board. Bloomberg has published speculation by analysts that a new variation of the home console could remove the docking feature and solely be a handheld gaming device.

Citigroup Inc. […] expect the Kyoto-based company to release a smaller version of the Switch in the fiscal year through March 2019, according to analysts including Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap. — Via Bloomberg

Interesting speculation which may mean a lot for Pokémon fans if a main franchise title does indeed end up on the Nintendo Switch.

If there were a handheld-only version though, would it defeat the purpose of the “Switch”? Weigh in below!

  1. So apparently there’s actually billions of Spinda varieties

Not gonna ask for it today, but anyone else think it’d be cool to some day to all post photos of our Spinda?

    • Good fake mon line, though I think the last one’s a bit weak. It doesn’t work that well since the name relies on you knowing that uzumaki is the Japanese word for spiral, which most people won’t, and even then spirals aren’t really known for being ghostly or creepy in Japan. There is a Manga called uzumaki that is a classic work of Japanese Horror, but the spirals in that are meant to be a linked theme in the story with everything evil going on being spiral shaped in some way. If anything I’d expect that the name would more work with a Ramen themed pokemon given uzumaki(I think?) are a common garnish or ingredient served with it.

        • Yeah, and very few people outside of Japan would be able to tell you what their names actually mean. They generally get a huge pass since not only were they part of Gen 1, where localization of certain names could be forgiven for not fully thinking them out, but Pikachu’s the mascot of the series. As far as most of us are concerned it was just a weird made up name that someone came up with and not something that would require advanced knowledge of the Japanese language.

      • But you don’t buy it for one game, there’s more coming out. It’s like not buying a car because you don’t need it solely to drive from the dealership to your home.

        • There’s no guarantee that there will be something I like though.

I didn’t buy a Wii U because there was only about 3 games on it that I liked, most of which were remakes of games I owned.

I don’t have an income so I have to be careful with what I spend.

Steam’s ruined me – if a game costs more than £5 I have to think very carefully, any more than £10 and I have to think very very carefully.

        • I’ll wait until it’s released before making any assumptions.

I probably would like it, but even so, I reckon I’d need at least 4/5 guaranteed games before I can justify buying a Switch.

          • That’s understandable. No point in buying a 300 dollar system to play a couple games. I, on the other hand, am probably going to get like 5 switch games this year alone. xD

    • siiigh i’ll admit i’ve been doing that with Yooka-laylee
i’ve been in a gaming life crisis

i love the game and vowed to 100% it, but i’ve been so lazy lately

  2. Mt. Laynaru is the most Skyrim thing in this game. The mountain looks so similar to The Throat of the world (as in the stair case leading up to it) and there’s even a dragon at the top

  3. Well my new Sawk & Throh variants here’s why they changed (remember they are based on oni now)

“After wanting a new training method Sawk/Throh left their mountain sanctions to head to city areas, and after seeing the chaos around them they vowed to change them so they mastered the arts of terror now they only appear around darkness and unjust places to terrorize people till change is made, only those of devotion and pure hearts can tame them”

  4. So I will have a second set of starters in my game, but it’ll be regional variants of previous ones:
    – Selosian Decidueye
    – Selosian Infernape
    – Selosian Blastoise
Try to guess their at least one of their typings 😀

  5. Aparently before I stopped by for the Ash-Hat-Pikachu event I hadn’t been here since “Happy Holidays From Pokejungle”, which is also the same time Percy Espeon left.

Did anybody else leave around that time?
