Marshadow, the mysterious Mythical Pokémon of Alola, has been revealed in both an English trailer with in-game footage AND can be seen in a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon movie!
The official Pokémon site has also updated about Marshadow, but no details yet about how distribution will work.
Where are Brock and Misty?!
Finally something Pokémon-related to discuss! It’s interesting that they’re doing this now, since it’s the only undiscovered Mythical remaining in Sun and Moon. Since they did it this way and haven’t announced distribution, this could mean a couple things: either it will come only to Sun and Moon a few months from now (which would seem way too soon to me), or it’s coming to Stars on its release day (just like Magearna).

Guys, this could be the first sign that a game reveal is coming within the next few weeks, which is right on schedule anyway. Don’t forget that they revealed Magearna on February 15 and Sun and Moon on February 27.
That’s an interesting thought. I personally see them revealing a game in early May, like ORAS. I think we’ll see a direct within the next two weeks and Pokemon will likely be after, since they usually do their own thing. Then that way it’ll be ready for E3.
I was expecting that as well but this really pushes things forward for me. I’m thinking April is almost locked in now. The question just remains: will it come to Switch? And is there any chance that it’s D/P remakes this year instead of next year? (Think of what they did with Volcanion).

Actually I think it was Hoopa instead of Volcanion back in 2014. I dunno, maybe 2015, but they released it to both ORAS and XY. So I’m saying that Marshadow could come to DP and SM potentially, considering it is the last mythical.

Nope, February 2016 Corocoro. Made us all pretty certain that Gen 7 was coming instead of Pokémon Z. I think the timing of this reveal should speak for itself.

This ovie iw getting weirder by the minute. With all these new characters and changes to Ash’s origin story I’m starting to think there is a plot to this that we aren’t expecting. Maybe this isn’t actually an origin story and it’s in the normal time line, but we’re missing a major plot point. Maybe Ash gets sent back in time or sent to a different dimension and it’s up to Marshadow to get him home. Either way I’m starting to think there’s something more to this than meets the eye. On top of all that with them having Marshadow in the movie that gets me wondering. What in the world are they gonna do for the other potential gen 7 movies? We got all the New Pokemon revealed at this point. Sure the could do an Ultra beast movie, but I get the feeling they’d want to have them in the anime more so than in a movie. It really makes you think that maybe they have something special up their sleeves for the next game. Maybe Stars is more significant that we all think!
They’ll probably do some huge Ultra Beast vs. Solgaleo/Lunala movie with Necrozma as the main feature. I suppose that it’s possible for them to sneak a Gen 8 Pokémon into that one as well (as insane as that sounds), otherwise it would be in the Diamond/Pearl movie.
I’m not too concerned about them using the UB’s, SM legends, and Necrozma for movies. the real interesting point about them having now revealed ALL of the gen 7 Pokemon is that they usually keep a few in their back pockets (not joking here tho I get it lol) It makes sense for them to use those Pokemon, but it’s just very odd that they’re all known prior to their presumed movies. Usually we don’t (or at least aren’t supposed to) know about the mythical Pokemon and that gives the generations some small amounts of longevity. This time around they’d be making movies without any huge announcement. something is definitely up here. Otherwise it would have been wiser to keep Marshadow for another movie and have the UB’s not so commonly known about. They’ll need something up their sleeves to keep us wanting more otherwise the movies that follow this one will have no real draw. Just a very interesting situation they’ve put themselves in is all lol.
For all intents and purposes, Marshadow should have been in next year’s movie. Everyone thought that this movie would just be some kind of tide-over 20th anniversary movie for nostalgia freaks, but no, it’s not. So it seems pretty clear to me that they intend to do a Marshadow + Stars double feature this year. I mean, they had both Munchlax and Magearna for Sun and Moon…they need something! They already pulled the Sinnoh card!

Yo I’m back people. Hopefully a new game comes along with this announcement. But this movie looks really good (besides the fact that Brock and Misty aren’t in it.
Alright, this whole event has convinced me. When I feel like I’ve had my fill of Breath of the Wild (for now) I’m going to play through the Moon file that I started back in February or something. I never even picked my starter…which will be…POPPLIO!

Pacing has always been a Pokemon issue outside of B/W. Even in sun and moon
I thought Sun and Moon were fine. Most of the Pokemon games either go fast or are fine. DP for me was just such a trudge that it took me forever to build up the strength to beat it. lol
The first two islands were just soooo slow and inconsequential. Even the third island suffered a bit. I don’t think they spread the plot well in sm
Sun and Moon had that problem in the early parts of the game where the game would stop you for unnecessary tutorials. I get new people are playing the games, but let people figure things out for themselves rather than just tell them everything

I’m going to cry for real when those games are announced. One of the most important full-circle moments of my life, since I still remember Diamond and Pearl’s importance to me so vividly. The whole experience will be emotional.
Diamond was the first main series game I played. Before then, I’d only played spin offs for some reason
I was happy for ORAS when they were revealed, but, like what you said, DP was everything as a kid, and to see it redone (potentially) will cause me to feel immense nostalgia.
Hoenn was basically before my time. I couldn’t get the full impact of it because Emerald was my first Pokémon game at a young age, so I missed Ruby and Sapphire and all of that hype. Diamond and Pearl was where it really began, in mid-late elementary school.
Yeah same, DP was so much fun: the countless wifi battles, exploring a huge and vast region that feels lifelike, and home to some of my favorite Pokemon of all time.

My two criticisms of the DP intros are that this is when they started shortening the intros to only 30 secs and that they reused the footage for the first two intros. I wish they would have used the footage from the actual Japanese intros more to pad things out, but oh well. Otherwise the DP intros were pretty decent and the DP anime as a whole was amazing lol

Ok one more criticism of the the Post Hoenn Pokemon anime intros and then I’m going to bed. I think that it’s around after the song Battle Cry that they stopped writing the songs to be about battling. after Battle Cry it all became about either some cheesy gush that made yo feel like the characters had no drive in what they were doing or entirely about having to save the world. and some shit. all I want is a kid ass intro that talks about Ash battling his heart out and wanting to be the very best. While I can’t say the first DP anime intro is the best ever, it definitely covers what I want in Pokemon intro lyrics. Enough of the mushy stuff and get back to your roots Pokemon anime!! lol

So I was thinking about Gen 8 again and I found this article about the significance of colors in Chinese color. Interestingly, each color has a mythical creature tied to it, which would be perfect for Pokemon designs. There are five of them for New Yang, Full Yang, Yin/Yang balance, New Yin, and Full Yin. I think the Full Yin and Full Yang would probably be perfect for box legendaries, a Fire/Ghost “vermilion bird” and a Dark/Ice “black tortoise”. I wouldn’t be shocked if this is what Game Freak were considering.

It’s unnecessary compression that most rpgs don’t bother with, so why expand some concepts and compress others?

Besides Dedenne, Decidueye is IMO one of the worst designs for its types. None of its lore or appearance fit ghost IMO

I’m pretty sad that Volcanion was just kinda glossed over. Like Diancie and Hoopa has something special (Diancie was a Mutated Carbink and Hoopa was responsible for most of ORAS’s postgame) but Volcanion had nothing really except a movie. I was hyped that it was (potentially) related to TF but it dissapointed me in no backstory.
Though as a Pokemon in battling it’s sick.
Also Diancie and Hoopa get powered up forms

She’s an open book which causes a lot of tension with Lionel because he doesn’t reveal much about himself. She’ll do anything for money and is quite frugal so that she can save for her school. She’s also not afraid to lead the group into trouble hunting for clues to Pokemon history.

Comfey can probs happily switch into a Sludge Bomb, Seismotoad only has 85 Sp Attack and isn’t STAB at all, and depending on how well it tanks the first one I can follow up with a Calm Mind (unrelated note: praying Comfey gets Gigas Drain from tutors, it’d be so good for it :D)
And sheer force means nothing if you can’t tell what your opponent means to do next. To trick and mislead is to nullify your foes’ strategy whilst hiding your own: to break through that with sheer force would a true challenge indeed, although it’d be a fierce fight none the less
Seismitoad isn’t meant to damage more a nice perk if the poison sets in
his job is his Special Bulk with AV that can outlast anything that isn’t grass
but that fails in comparison to thew sheer power that is a Adamant Life Orbed STAB Iron head from Excadrill you cannot deny that is a lethal factor

Hmm, it’d probably mostly consist of wearing down Excadrill… Whimsicott does learn cotton spore, could pull off a sunny day… As I’ve said, depends on how battles would work. If it’s four moves and turn based you’d probably win unless I pull some niche bs like sashPrimarina, but if it was like anime style it’s be much closer, Pokken style Whimsicott would be in a playground (not a guaranteed win, but it’d be a massive threat) etc

And i feel it’s naturally balanced by having to maintain all the moves and for your Pokemon to master them, but different strokes for different blokes J guess
well if it makes you feel any better move combos are allowed as long as the Pokemon can actually perform it,
its like saying a Primarina can use psychic to fly at hyper-sonic speeds, it can float and maneuver around but it can’t be super fast and it must maintain using psychic and can’t dual attack
Ehhh I think it could slightly maneuver itself and use moves but if it wanted to move at anything near a decent speed it’d have to focus on the one attack
yes, one attack i was tinkering was Rhyperior using Thunderpunch and Rock Wrecker to create an electrified cannonball but my crowning achievement is Excadrill’s Aerial drill Claw
After stunning the foe with Rock Slide, Excadrill dives into the ground and fires straight into the air, as it descends it uses Aerial Ace to build speed, with his outstretched arms his claws power up with Metal Claw all with the corkscrew motion of Drill Run, as it slams into the foe multiple times, he rebounds for one final strike where he lunges at full speed and power and dismantles mid rotation to strike with his claws with the centripetal force at his back issuing a final blow
this move ensures extreme damage from both ends

i think so one of them special cases, i speculated ways to fight with a Pallossand,
usually stretching its limbs and drifting flat underground to snatch foes with his maw and inhale their vitality with Giga Drain
and the Pit trap where it uses Sand Tomb to create a giant depression in the battlefeild and swallow everything whole

The frill is just a general performer thing (like an acrobat, Popplio’s actual basis) and the nose is just a cartoon sea lion thing
Popplio never ‘would’ve’ been a Fighting – Type though, at least as long as we’ve known it. Something like Primarina would’ve been the design aim (and had a good chance of already being completed or near so) by the time we actually ever saw Popplio and knew it existed, because the final evo concept wouldn’t of just been finished a matter of months before the game released.

Pokemon fluctuates in quality though, (see: BW > XY > SM) and even then its all subjective
For example for me Pokemon peaked on fourth Gen, continued being good in Gen V, dipped in Gen VI (they’re still objectively good games imo, just not up to a series standard) before coming back in SuMo. You and everyone else here will have a different opinion about it
But a remake is more than that, they also remove features that we liked from the old games for no reason :p

Battle Born was pretty much Dead on Arrival, and even then it would be a game that lasted for probably a couple of years before eventually it would be given a sequel since its graphical capabilities kinda looked dated before the game came out, and that doesn’t give it a lot of hope to age well. I have been thinking about Marshadow’s pokedex lore and it intrigues me. It lore pretty much says how it’s elusive and never been seen by humans. It seems it’s entire function is not to be be seen and then I thought what if Marshadow has a event in the game but one that can only be unlocked though Island Scan. A Island Scan event would tie into the whole being elusive nature of Marshadow and actually be great for showing the QR scanner off. I me be way off base but I think it could be true. So do you think it’s possible.

I believe the reason it is pure Dark-type is because, despite of its spectral appearance, it is not supposed to be a spirit, it is just the embodiment of darkness itself.
Thing is tho ‘darkness’ as in actual absence of light seems to be a Ghost thing. See Marshadow, Gengar, and all the moves with the word shadow in them
I don’t agree with that. Dark-types are super effective against Ghosts. Even the spirits fear the dark forces. I think of Darkness as a form of energy, in this case, pure evil energy (such as Dark Pulse – and I guess that’s GF made it a special type instead of physical, before the Gen 4 split), not something related with shadows. That’s what separates it from the Ghost-type for me. But I admit that the two things share a similar basis.
It’s not me who’s implying that literal darkness is Ghost – Type tho, it’s GF. Dark type just seems to be malicious intent, misfortune and trickery whereas Ghost type is spirits, black magic (hex, curse, etc) and shadows (darkness)
But shadows come from light hitting something, not from the absence of it. If there’s no light, there can’t be shadows. But you can have darkness without light because darkness can overwhelm light (think of things like Black Holes, or the hypothetical Big Freeze). As such, shadows can’t be considered to be darkness itself.

Tbh I think Mewtwo got its Megas when all the mega stones in ORAS were created from the meteor, it can’t be from the ultimate weapon

Well my theory is that since if Mew itself can mega evolve that part of Mewtwo’s DNA hones into it and accesses a Mega Evolution form similar in Mew’s appearance, but the other reason is that due to its mutant spliced DNA it is reacting horribly to the Mega Evolution process and it hones in on its original programming aka to the the perfect weapon thus enhancing its fighting strength and achieves a form perfect for fighting
Makes sense to be honest, even without a Mega Mew
Y is Mega Evolution reacting with the Mew part of its DNA, X is reacting with DNA unique to Mewtwo. Mew possibly doesn’t have a Mega Evolution because it can tap into Z-Power and Z-Power and Infinity Energy are somehow incompatible, or Mew just wasn’t effected by any of the events that created Mega Stones

IMO it’s mad how much the lore has advanced since DPPt… Alternate dimensions… Alternate timelines… Infinity Energy… Z-Power… How are they going to tie this all together? Considering that Sinnoh’s legendaries are the embodiments of space and time, I hope DPPt remakes dig into this lore and make good use of it
I’m pretty sure that Gamefreak doesn’t give a shit about the lore and makes up things as it goes along. The new games seem to raise more questions rather truth to explain anything,and I’m sure sinnoh remakes will be the same
They have shown care for their lore and timelines tho, to the point we get obscure ass callbacks and characters don’t appear where the time line would conflict

I was excited about the prospect of it after playing oras since I thought they would tie it and XY together, but we haven’t gotten any sort of other info on zinnia or az or the war.
And the whole alternate timeline thing is so bady executed. I liked the idea of it in oras but they really didn’t do much with it when Anabel showed up in SuMo.
