  1. So I finally finished Horizon Zero Dawn, and I was kind of scared to do so because even though I have seen nothing but praise for the game (from normal people) I heard that everyone I spoke to didn’t like the ending at all, but like most things apparently I was different because I actually loved the ending and the entire game. If anyone needs something to play after zelda BOTW (which i still don’t have and I’m salty) or something to play now that sun and moon have served their purpose, I highly recommend this game. Its up there with the Last of Us for story and gameplay

    • I guess I should elaborate a little.

I don’t support the things JonTron said, but I do think it’s ridiculous that they chose to censor their game because of differing political views.

      Reply
      • Lol, were does this censorship talk come from? They cut ties with someone who negatively impacts the perception of their game. They don’t want to be associated with him, that’s all. There’s nothing censored in the game itself, the voice overs will just be done by someone else.

        • censorship
          ˈsensərSHip/
          noun
          1.
the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security.

His character may not have said anything controversial, but removing his voice from the game for something as petty as politics and opinions is definitely censorship.

          Reply
          • They don’t suppress the views though because they are not featured in the media. It’s like when a politician gets thrown out if they find out he is a pedophile, it does not affect the political views he has, but who still wants to work with this guy?

          • Well, there’s a difference between having a different opinion, and saying “discrimination doesn’t exist”
Jontron quite literally did the latter

          • While what he said was wrong, that’s not entirely different. Both you wouldn’t agree with, but it has nothing to do with a voice over. If people would boycott the game because they can’t handle a person being hired, that’s their problem. Not the developers.

          • I was going to bring this up, but decided against it. Here’s why:
His views aren’t directly expressed in the game. Removing him isn’t really censoring his ideas, but censoring him from the game. And that’s really not much in terms of censorship.

          • petty….. PETTY!! Do you even know what he said??? yes its censorship and they have every right to do so, for example, if I was running a company and decided to have someone involved in a project with me, only to find out they were a raging homophobe I would absolutely cut all ties with them, and do you know why thats ok? because it means that they as an individual don’t actually see me as and equal and have no respect for me. What Jon Tron said will most definitely have the same effects on both the staff of Yooka Laylee and any fans that may purchase the game, to be involved with someone who has such racist views would destroy their chance at making this game successful and even if they themselves don’t hold these views working with him while he does will say to people that they don’t care about the people he seems to have a problem with.

          • Fae fae… calm down… I’m equally as angry about what he said as you are, but I dunno if Ithsme knows everything that happened. I 100% agree with your view. Try to take it easy on Ithsme a lil

          • this isn’t against Ithsme, this is just in general, I have nothing against ithsme at all, but you should stay informed, we should all strive to be informed. THERE is a Right and a wrong.

          • *sigh*
Look. They had every right to fire him, I’m not arguing that it was 100% unjustified, but look at it this way.

They fired Jon because they didn’t share the same views (fact or not, they are views). That implies that all Playtonic workers share views, or they’d be fired. Yet they speak of supporting diversity in all respects, but they fired him for controversial views. It just comes off to me as hypocritical.

          • But how can you have diversity with someone who literally does not want diversity? Lol like you can’t have a bunch of people all of different races with a white supremacist also in the room (Not calling jon a white supremacist, just an example)

          • firing him is exactly how they are supporting diversity. How are you not seeing this??? How would keeping him be supporting diversity? Having a racist opinion isn’t diversity, sure having differing political opinions would be to an extent, but trust me, this isn’t a political opinion as much as people would like you to think so, if it is then saying that all gay people have aids is also a political opinion…. its not, its being an asshole.

      • I’m not saying there’s anything legal involved here, but I think it’s really shallow if the developers won’t work with someone who has differing views. But then, they also did so people didn’t oppose the game for including him. They easily could’ve said “we don’t support his views” or something.

        • If he flat out said “I don’t like the idea of having minorities everywhere,” it would have been less offensive than what he said

          Reply
          • Oh but dont worry because his video on the situation told us not to read into what he said. Because clearly what he says isn’t somewhat representative of his own beliefs

          • “Its not what he says, its what he means in his heart.” (that he never actually said) -Kelly ann Crypt keeper

          • idk if you saw the vid but my favorite part is where he cites jokes by some lady on TV as proof that white people are discriminated against more than minorities.
            It’s gloriously wrong

          • Lemme cite something to prove why Colombus did a good thing in killing the natives
“Columbia is a country, and it sounds like colombus”
            BOOM EVIDENCE

          • honestly with the amount of racism and bs running amok everywhere these days I have to take time away from it all just to give myself a break, its really tiring listening to idiots spout nonsense instead of educating themselves.

          • I saw a magazine talking about how trump was the person who caught Russian spies in the government, outsmarted putin, and outsmarted the “fumbling” FBI.
            I posted it earlier
The more I see life, the less I want to live

          • yeah ok, is he not currently being investigated by the FBI for being in league with russia, and has been since like the summer.

The man has the most severe case of overcompensation I have ever seen.

          • It was a magazine, not even him that said this shit
Once I can, I’m moving from this country

          • Canada seems nice. It’s too bad my entire family lives here in America in the south, It would be tough to move to a whole other country on my own.

          • yikes, just try to avoid the small towns if you do come here, most are lovely but some are a lot like the american southern stereotype, racist, white, and homophobic. AKA my hometown

          • I didn’t take AP social studies cause I had too many AP classes
I got put in a low level class because it was the only US history class available
The entire class is full of avid trump lovers
            Almost all do drugs
I want to blow my own brains out

          • More than half of my IB class was high during school. I don’t think it’s really that bad. What’s worse is when they’re so drunk and high that they can’t think properly, and you have to help them not throw up everywhere :^)

          • Any white person with a brain (which is usually pretty rare tbh) could tell you that minorities definitely face more discrimination than them.
Like it’s right there. Just step outside and use your eyes.

          • I mean like I feel really guilty b/c I go to college where it’s 1/2 conservative, but there’s no protests or anything. And I’ll see my friends going to nearby cities to march and protest and I feel bad b/c I’m not doing anything. And I’m very aware of my privilege so
I think they’re just afraid of people taking their “power” away from them.

          • …

Why do people get defensive at me for trying to express that I think what the company did was wrong but then nobody bats an eye when you say it’s rare for white people have a brain?

          • For starters, I’m white so I’m also criticizing myself.
Second, it’s a figure of speech. In this context, I meant it as anyone who’s somewhat aware.

          • Criticizing yourself doesn’t make it alright.

I’m just gonna go offline for a bit. MelloMori’s right, it seems I’ve opened a can of worms here that I wish I hadn’t.

          • I should also reword that, I mean defending your side. Same way I am mine.

I’m starting to be a hyprocrite now, I said I’d go offline but I still haven’t. Oops.

          • obviously he’s joking about the amount of crazy white people in the states who are running around seemingly without one, no one actually thinks he means all white people are stupid, but as a white person, we seem to have the numbers believe me.

The problem is, you seem to be more outraged with what the company has done with what JonTron said

    • Honestly, looking through some of these comments here and in the article, its really nice to see that we can actually have different opinions, all be it also showing that some people are also guilty of being kinda racist.sexist in other ways.

        • I’ll be honest I kinda found my favorite adult drink of choice(which is about as potent as 3 drinks), so I’m fairly gone at this point. More what I mean is that we can actually talk about something like this and not fall completely to one side and actually have differing views. Like I agree with you that really it looks worse for them for removing Jon since it makes them look less professional since part of the adult world is accepting that you’ll have to work with people that have different opinions then yours, and that’s fine so long as their legal.

        • Ehh, there’s been one statement that’s kinda racist here, but that’s not worth really arguing since this entire topic’s turned pretty toxic.

          Reply
          • on the contrary, I think its been one of the least toxic arguments we have had on the site, are we reading the same threads? 😛 Im scrolling but I’m not seeing anything racist either, but maybe this was before I got here

          • More I meant that someone did make a shot as saying that most white people aren’t exactly smart enough to see that people of minorities are discriminated against. Let’s be honest, that’s kind of a racist statement.

But I meant more that the topic as a whole has become toxic across the internet. Our little corner of it is pretty chill.

          • Hey there, if you disagree with something that I said, please let me know. I’d rather you just say it to my face. Thanks.

          • I was trying to save face a little, but yeah. That’s kind of statement’s kind of in bad taste when your trying to argue that people of the majority don’t see discrimination.

          • It’s not that the people of majority (which includes me as well, by the way) don’t see discrimination, it’s that usually if they do, they choose to ignore it. That’s also a problem. Perhaps I should have been clearer in my statement.

          • Let’s just take this all as a moment to learn. Yeah people have to realize that you shouldn’t ignore discrimination, but you also need to make sure you don’t discriminate people for the sake of another group since it doesn’t make you much better. But no worries man. Just better to point these things out when you see them and try to be polite about it. I’ll be honest that I’d be hurt if you folks didn’t call me out when I say something stupid or insulting, which I try to avoid.

          • Have you maybe seen who is running the US right now? A bunch of racist brainless white people and their followers who are so outspoken that they seem like there are more than their actually are. Everyone knows thats what he’s talking about, but honey, if someone saying white people are stupid is seen as racism to you then I’d hate to see what you’d do as a marginalized minority. Obviously its a generalization but in todays society its one thats hard to ignore, maybe if we as white people focused on actually stopping stupid racist white people instead of trying to become the victim we can solve the problem instead of being the problem.

          • So, and please forgive me if I’m reading this wrong because I have been drinking, your saying that because the U.S. government is largely run by white people that means we shouldn’t call out racism in any form, however big or small it is, and instead focus on the bigger cases of racism while ignoring the smaller ones because their less important. Because that’s really how your statements seem to sound to me when reading them. By all means yes people need to call out people being racist, but I would think that we should be calling out all forms of racism, not just the one’s that seem more important.

          • I don’t think people making fun of a small amount of racist white assholes is anywhere near the same as the actual systemic problems that face minorities.

          • And I agree and disagree. Is it any were near as big? No. The problems of many groups out weigh a lot of racist statements towards white people without question. But at the same time that doesn’t make them any less racist. If you want to stop racism, you need to stop it in all forms at all groups, big and small. Yeah their are a bunch of racist assholes out there, and by all means call them out, don’t support them and all of that stuff. But don’t try to prioritize one group over another since that just pushes aside problems, if that makes any sense.

          • you missed several points and didn’t quite grasp what I was saying but thats fine, at least you’re trying, but unfortunately I do have things to do so I must leave it at that

          • No, I think I got what you said pretty clearly. You pretty much said that because I pointed out a somewhat racist remark about white people, that my remark isn’t really valid and that I wouldn’t really make it in this world if I was of a minority group. I simply pointed out that instead of trying to act like certain groups are more important to fight for, why not just say “screw Racism” in all of its forms. Also lovely to assume that the problem is only “stupid Racist White People” instead of just saying racist people in general.

          • Or maybe I just have a different opinion to your’s and as you said you don’t have the time to explain and realize that even if you did I probably won’t see eye to eye with you and its simply easier to say “you don’t understand honey” as if you were speaking to a child rather then having an actual discussion. But again, its probably better that we stop now since we probably wouldn’t budge on our views either way.

          • ok first, I say honey to everyone in real life, its my way of trying to diffuse tough situations, I’m not talking down to you. Secondly my point about “white” people running the country was what you didn’t grasp in your first response, I’m not saying because white people run the country we shouldn’t call out those forms of racism, which yes they exist but they’re not really a huge issue, its a very small occurrence, and sure we should call it out, however this is my point, its not just white people that are running the US, its stupid racist white people, sure it would have been better to change it from white to republican in the other posters original post about not having a brain, but most republicans are racist stupid white people, is that a generalization, sure, is it unfortunately very accurate, hell yes! And you know whats also a problem, those same people time and time again are too absorbed in their own realities to actually realize that they are stupid and racist in their daily lives, but the minute someone even remotely disagrees with their right to be that way, they call people out and call it discrimination, its like the religious right wing crazies that call it religious freedom to discriminate against others. You cannot have it both ways, and white supremacy is on the rise again in the US and around the world and its toxic and its not being stamped out because people call it a “political opinion” instead of what it really is, complete and utter bullshit.

But you’re right, we’ll probably never see things eye to eye, and honestly I’m tired of having to debate with people over these things. So why don’t we just let it slide for now.

          • Thank you for giving a reasonably polite statement back. I’m sorry if I came across as rude. I’m my little corner of the world calling someone honey or sweetie that isn’t someone significant to you is kind of a big insult to them, but I understand your use of the word. Sorry if I came across as hostile.

And yeah I don’t disagree with you. I’m not a fan of a lot of the people who are currently running our country. Heck if we were fully allowed to voice our political feelings you would probably see me making a post daily about how much I’m not a fan of the current administration. But at the same time, and maybe I’m just off like this, I kinda see the way you change, and beat those kind of people isn’t by shouting at them and saying your the bad guy, but trying to speak out to them on a level they understand. Like yeah their are plenty of racist people out there, but that’s more from what they’ve been raised on and what they see in their small bubble. by exposing them to something different to what they know, they can grow and actually change their opinion. Heck many of those republicans who for years voiced their opinion’s of being anti-LGBT actually changed their opinion and became supporters with watch Will and Grace of all things.

Kinda getting back to the source of things is that I don’t think we should make enemies out of people we disagree with, but try to present your views through a way that they can understand. And if they still say that they see your view, but it doesn’t change there’s, then don’t support them. Don’t vote for them, don’t buy their stuff, don’t watch them, whatever applies. Hurt them where it counts. At least then the’ll likely be a much smaller issue to you personally.

          • honestly life would be so much easier if we could see things through other peoples views and eyes just like swap minds for a bit, then we wouldn’t have these problems, unless you lack empathy then idk what to tell ya
