Pokémon Global Link Adds QR Rental, Friendly Comps & More!

The Pokémon Global Link has been updated with several new features and events for players of Pokémon Sun & Moon.

QR Rental Teams

The feature allowing for rental teams to be tested using QR codes has now gone live. These can be assembled and tried by anyone, but are not allowed in official tournaments. Quick and easy way to try new strategies!

Friendly Competitions

Players can now set up custom competitions for friends to participate in online. This allows for different rules and criteria. These can be set to public or private based on player preference. Sounds fun!

Global Mission

A new global mission is active which challenges trainers across the world to trade 1,000,000 Pokémon. Participants will be awarded Festival Coins with the amount dependent on the success or failure of the mission and whether the game is tied to a Global Link account. In addition, players that make 5 trades will be given a Rare Candy. If 2,000,000 cumulative trades are reached everyone will be given a bonus Friend Ball.

2017 International Challenge

A new competition, the 2017 International Challenge, has been announced which will take place next month.

Registration for the 2017 International Challenge February begins February 16, 2017, at 0:00 UTC. The competition goes from Friday, February 24, at 00:00 UTC, until Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 23:59 UTC. Trainers will be limited to 15 battles per day.

Most importantly the participation prize will award players with Mega Stones for Mawile and Beedrill, two items that are not found during regular gameplay in Sun & Moon. The only Pokémon allowed in battle will be ones found in the Alola Pokédex.

    Cursed Body/Frisk HA: hard to implement but it’s called All Seeing where you can view a opponents moves

    It is a large ghastly phantasmal Pokemon resembling a human eye, it has a dark purple spherical body similar to an eyelid with with a series of ghostly tails and in the middle is the eye, it’s pale white with bright a red Iris and yellow pupil, and a few veins

It’s about some readings we’ve had to do, and all the readings center around body image, normalcy, etc. We have to include a central real-life example to illustrate the theme. I brought up transgenderism, and they all agreed that it would be a great choice ^-^

      • Honestly the problem really isn’t SuMo it’s the 3DS. I would imagine SuMo would be better off on a more powerful console. The game in general is great, but the 3DS’ low specs drag it down big time. I wouldn’t be surprised if SuMo was meant for the Switch and that’s the reason we’ll be getting Stars to make up for that.

        • It was made specifically for the 3DS, there is NO reason why it isn’t optimized for it. This is GameFreak’s fault for being lazy (Optimizing it, the game is great)

          • Well we really don’t know for sure what they were doing. It’s clear they were looking towards the future as in the announcement trailer they showed an HD Pikipek, but who knows. Either way I agree that SuMo cold have been better, but I don’t think it has anything to do with them being “lazy” per say, but more so it’s the 3DS’s fault for not being able to handle the game they wanted to make.

      • I mean as a kid I drew robots all the time, so incorporating some Pokemon designs into something like that would be cool.
        Also, why hate mechas? It’s a very cool concept.

            it drains a planet’s energy source (its the future and most planets have big powerplants that do everything) causing global blackouts and uses said energy to go on a gleefully malevolent genocide

            then going to the core of the planet and detonating it from within,

            and just keeps going until he’s stopped

            the guy who “owns” him keeps him in a high security stasis pod because even he can’t keep this thing in check

          • and here’s the fun part, say a planet broke from within what exactly happens.,
            as the planet’s integrity falls apart the chunks are actually torn and flung away due to the planet’s own rotation and revolution

            Oh and 20% of all stolen energy fuels a new-age energy barrier that cloaks and shields him from all on going attacks, and combine with his fast speed, wild reckless attacking style,

  58. On the note of Cartoon Network show I have to say I do like many of the shows that are on now I’m now an adult, but I’ve often found myself enjoying them to the fullest. You know a show is good when it can appeal to both children AND adults. One of the many reasons the show back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s were so good was that they had jokes not only for kids, but also adults. I can’t count the number of times Dexter’s lab and shows like that had “mature humor” sprinkled in that obviously kids wouldn’t get, but adults would definitely pick up on lol

  62. So somebody ideas that I’m thinking for Pokemon mechas I will draw in the future:
    – A Giratina mecha that in its “Altered Form” it looks like a mobile command tower, and then turns into it’s “Origin Form” which is like a flying battleship
    – Mecha Weavile
    – Mecha Complete Zygarde (should be easy considering it’s basically a mecha anyway XD)
    – A Mecha Glaile that’s a floating fortress with tons of cannons
    – Mecha Zekrom
    And
    – Mecha Kyogre/ Primal Kyogre that is a submarine ship which changes appearances when the “Blue Orb” is placed into its power core, giving it a large boost of power.

    • In the past I have, but recently in my Emerald run I broke that base because I wanted to use more Pokemon outside of Fire Type (for example). So instead of having a fire type, I used Hariyama.

    • I always try to have Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Flying, Ground, Dark. Sometimes substitute dark with ghost or have either electric or grass.

    • When I was a kid, I would always have a base team of Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, and Flying.

      Now, I honestly try to stray from that, since my teams often can be repetitive.

    • I like to, mostly because they offer good coverage. It really depends on the ‘mon. I really hated not using a Fire type on X, had I been OK with having 2 part normal or flying types or no Ground type I’d have used Pyroar or Talonflame. But no, I used Diggersby and Noivern (which I really like), so I had to forego it. It pained me but really I preferred the Pokemon I used, Gen 6 wasn’t great for the Fire type imo. I can easily go without Grass or Water, but there tend to be more of those so I usually have one. Unless you mean competitive, in which case I try to just use what I like together, I’m a bit less worried about type overlap if I can cover other types well.

    • For me, it’s usually Fire, Water and either Grass or Electric. The rest depends on what new pokémon I like but I usually try to include a typical physical type (Fighting, Rock, Ground, Steel), a typical special type (Psychic, Fairy, Ghost – I know Ghost wasn’t special before Gen IV, but it always felt more like it – or Dark), and a Dragon type.

  65. 239 Magikarp into my Shiny Wimpod breed. Really considering saving when there are no eggs so I can still switch but also go on the GTS for a bit. Knowing my luck though as soon as I do that she’ll have an egg and it’ll be Shiny Magikarp and I’ll be stuck with it :/

    Expecting this one to be first, eh? When I was making my list, Pinsir and another Pokemon constantly were in competition with one another for first. I thought Pinsir would be 1st, but then I realized that other Pokemon truly was my favorite of all time.
    Anyway, onto Pinsir. It’s an awesome Bug type Pokemon by the looks of it, giving off of the “don’t ever fuck with me or I’ll pummel you” expression. Not only that, but it makes you think that if you were in the wild, and you came across Pinsir, the only thing left of your mind is pure terror.
    But the true terror of Pinsir is that Mega Evolution of it. Earning a Flying type, people would get the idea that this thing could not go miles because of that nasty 4x weakness to Rock. And while that’s one of its greatest flaws, it’s most devastating characteristic would have to be Aerilate. Combined with the vast move pool of Normal type moves, such as Quick Attack and Thrash, plus the STAB boost to its new Flying type, Mega Pinsir plows teams with ease. Along with that, it now has a great 120 defense and a solid 85 Sp Defense, so it can take some hits before getting shot out of the sky. Also, it now has a whopping 105 speed, so it’ll be zooming by the sped stats of 100 most Pokemon have. That makes it a perfect mon to utilize in competitive play, and a dangerous hazard to be weary of.
    I began to truly love this Pokemon back in the good ol’ Pokemon Go times back in the summer, when after hatching a 10 km egg I got myself a Pinsir. It was the strongest at that time, and I was really unsure about how strong it would be against gyms. And when I finally put it up to the Vaporeons and Gyarados, it kicked so much ass. It’s Fury Attack demolished a good chunk of their health, finishing it off with X-Scissor. And it help in my conquest of all the Valor and Instinct gyms that stood in my way. Thanks to Pinsir, I got a lot of levels for myself, and gyms for my fellow Mystic crew. It was amazing, and made me love the Stag Beetle Pokemon so much to earn its #2 Spot.
