As per the usual Holiday tradition, the first trailer for the next Pokémon Movie has been released!
Airing on the Japanese variety show, Oha Suta, the next Pokémon movie will premiere in Japan on July 15th, 2017 and is called Pokémon, I Choose You!
The trailer showcased random landscapes, such as Pallet Town, and showed Ash putting on his hat and picking up a Pokéball followed by Pikachu looking a bit confused at the end. The official poster (shown above) features Ash & Pikachu in a field with Ho-Oh.
Thoughts on this departure from the usual yearly Pokémon film? Disappointed it won’t be focused on Alola, or ecstatic for this celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the anime?

They have been already trying us with Pokemon Origins and now Generations, so it doesn’t sound very crazy that they will be end up doing a whole reboot… maybe just for the series or let’s see.

So the movie is a nice surprise. It’s different from what we usually get. I’d bet it only covers the Kanto journey, but the idea is pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing how they make the journey fresh while at the same time keeping some of the charm of the old show.
Marowak is the single most ridiculous pokemon to get on the GTS. Not only is it not that rare, but people are demanding high level random pokemon, for a shiny marowak named something really stupid holding a stupid item. It’s like one person did it for fun and others joined in.

Well, actually I have a team already, a version led by Tapu Lele; I just didn’t like it (it didn’t do well in showdown/battle spot testing) so I’m making another. At worst I’ll have to just have to use the old team.

Hmm… well the things I can see:
1. the left eye should be wider, the right eye should be narrower (basically swap their widths)
2. the right eye has really kinda super thick eyelashes compared to the left
3. either the right arm is too long or the left arm is too short, I’m not sure
4. in general, she’s quite tall compared to her in-game portrayal but could’ve been aged-up…

My team has bit of an advantage
The only threat is say Swampert but Seismitoad walls it
Mudsdale could do some damage since you have no sp attackers

Also I would wall Mudsdale with Hippowdon
Mamoswine’s Ice shard and knock off take care of Garchomp and Golurk (and Mamoswine can stomach a dynamic punch)
Krookodile just needs a good Megahorning and lastly Steelix is laughable on the offensive and is taken care of by Nidokings speed and sheer force earth power
But like I said all I need to do is chase you down before I get pinned I’ve done this a hundred times boyo

I run a full fledged special Nidoking and it has treated me extremely well over the years
And Ultron I’ve been fighting Ground Monos for supremacy for a looong time and they’re either too stubborn to stray from the path or the stupid ones who run things like mega camerupt or Steelix and I one shot them (or two shot the Steelix) and half the time Mamoswine is my ace in the hole since they can’t resist using Landorus

My guess/hope for the movie (no idea if someone already guessed it), all of Ash’s pokemon (past, present, Oak’d) will make an appearance and instantly makes up for the lack of Oak’s Lab episodes.

Currently on my second Tapu, I’ve decided I’m going to catch all four in one day even if it kills me.
I caught all mine with low catch rate balls in two hours. If I can do that, than you got this
I’m using Pokeballs and haven’t got anything that can cause a status condition.
And all my team (apart from the abra I use for Nature-Syncing) is lvl 78.

Well, you can easily get Exeggcute/or for Sleep Powder, and there’s so many things that learn Thunder Wave.
Nothing I have at a high level though.
I did teach the Abra Thunder Wave, but it’s usually gone before it can make a move, after which endurance is the main issue so I need high level stuff.
It wasn’t so bad with Koko because I have two things with Electric immunity, but Lele is a pain because it knows a Fairy move so I can’t rely on a Dark type for the same trick. I’m hoping something with Sap Sipper will work on Tapu Bulu and something with Water Absorb will work on Tapu Fini.
Being dragon/grass makes Exeggutor 4x resistant to almost everything the tapus can throw out, maybe except Fini who actually has a fairy attack.
My strongest Exeggutor is probably Lv 41 since I haven’t trained any of the ones I caught.
Doesn’t matter though, I got there in the end through sheer determination, and it only took ~40 Pokeballs since I got really lucky with the last two.
Still using regular balls to catch ’em all?

Nope, first one took me down from 96 to 66, second is currently at 30-40.
I’ve had to reset on three of the captures though, twice because the Nature didn’t sync and once because I ended up with a 0 IV on speed.
Couldn’t you just have Hyper Trained the 0 Speed though?
Yeah, but I’d have to get it up to Lv 100 first which would take ages and not having a 0IV would make that easier. I got a better set of perfect IVs anyway – Def, SpDef and Speed.
Also I wish hyper training actually raised the IVs instead of just feigning them being raised in battle. It would make IV breeding easier.

I would vastly prefer if Hyper Training did that, it only doesn’t because of perceived ethical reasoning, genetic alteration.
I thought it didn’t do that because of how Hidden Power is calculated (which very stupidly is also the reason why something with perfect IVs will always have a Dark Type Hidden Power and why a Fairy Type Hidden Power doesn’t exist).
TLDR: They need to change how Hidden Power works.

HP is likely more of a reason. Not sure how they can change Hidden Power short of letting you pick it and it always being normal type to start with. Alot of things would run the Fairy one if it became available.
They could change Hidden Power to work on the Personality Value. I assume that’s still a thing since Wurmple can still evolve.
The only things stopping them allowing a Fairy (and Normal for that matter) Hidden Power are the current method for determining type and the fact they wouldn’t be able to get an even distribution (certain types would be more likely to occur).
The issue with personality value is that there’s no way to control it afaik.
At least with the current method you can have some chance at controlling it through Destiny Knot providing a parent has the right HP Type.
True, but at least it would let something with 5 or 6 perfect IVs have a Hidden Power. It’s either that or introduce a new value for Hidden Power, but that would mean adding 5 bits to each Pokemon’s storage structure, which would probably translate to an extra byte.
Would an extra byte really be that bad? Also part of the point of Hyper training is to allow Hidden Power ‘mon to have the stats of a 5/6IV ‘mon while keeping the Hidden Power it had.

I haven’t even started the UB quest, I got impatient and traded them all on the GTS to get the data.
Well that’s one way to do it.
I started it, but I stopped around Celesteela, cos I didn’t have the right Abra to Synchronise a good nature onto it.
I made sure to breed all 25 variations a few days after beating the champion.
All Tapus present and accounted for (and all in Pokeballs).
Now all I need to complete my Pokedex are Silvally, Marshadow, Magearna and Crobat.
I left Crobat till last because it’s in all four island dexes so I can complete them all at the same time.
some one else who likes to catch all their pokemon in pokeballs! I feel that they seem more legit that way. I pretty much catch all of mine in the standard balls unless it’s a shiny then it’s a premier or luxury ball.
I started in XY/ORAS because it bothered me that when the Pokeballs went onto the Pokecentre machine, some of them were different colours and it didn’t look as nice as when they’re all the same type of ball. Plus it’s more of a challenge which is nice because the games seem to be getting easier. Plus they almost never use any other kind in the anime.
I tend to keep all my premier balls as a way of tracking how many Pokeballs I’ve bought in total, but I might consider that in future.
I actually disagree. I hate when I see the poke balls together and they’re all the SAME. I need to have some variety. Especially because I like the pretty effects each ball has when the Pokemon is sent into battle but regular pokeballs don’t even do that so you guys are really selling yourselves short
I never even notice what Pokeball my oponent’s Pokemon comes out of. If I hadn’t been told I probably wouldn’t have noticed they changed them up this time.
Besides, the ball doesn’t affect the outcome of a battle.
Besides which I like the challenge of trying to catch legendaries with the low catch rate.

Oddly I got lucky with Fini, it only took me a few turns. Bulu I caught on my first try with only one Pokemon knocked out – the Sync Abra.

Thanks but nah, the other half of choosing Crobat was because I have a Golbat ready to evolve whenever I want, so I have total control of when I complete the dex. Besides I need to evolve Type: Null first.

I completed the Passport for pokefinder. It was very tedious, but taking pictures is really fun. I wish they made it you could take the picture anywhere

I intend to tackle that challenge at some point but I’ve only just made it past 250,000 points.
And they couldn’t let you take pictures anywhere because it would mean they couldn’t take some of the shortcuts that they use to make the overworld render so nicely. They fix the camera angles so you don’t see the parts of the world that should exist but don’t (i.e. they make buildings onesided/backless, don’t load parts of the island the player shouldn’t be able to see with the fixed camera or even use the equivalent of cardboard cutouts to stand in for certain objects).

Great team over all. Personally I’d switch magnazone with togedemaru since it has access to fakeour, wish, volt switch, nuzzle and spike shield, giving it a lot of options and with two different abilities that work well for either singles or doubles bas ed on what you prefer

Kalos was ok, but it’s not one of my favourite regions. I feel like aside from Hoenn most of the 3D regions seem to be lacking substance that all the old tile-based games had. In some ways Unova’s hybrid 3D made the world feel larger than Alola’s true 3D.
I also want to see how some of the old characters have grown up and developed over the last 15-20 years. Misty, Brock, Sabrina, etc
Let’s be honest, The poke company has been risking alienation of fans since gen 5 when they removed all the old Pokemon from previous regions and started is off completely fresh. There would be nothing wrong with a massive change to the kanto region. Pokemon fans are really loyal and as long as you give us a good game with plenty to do and Pokemon to battle, there will be few complaints no matter if it’s a remake or a brand new game or whatever
Same as what Fairy said, that would then be the Sevii islands being interesting and the main region being bland still.
That said, I’m not in a hurry to do another island challenge, I found the island challenge to be easier than the Kalos Gyms.
While I think of it though, a whole game centred around the Sevii islands would be ok if they scaled all the Sevii islands up to Akala/Ula’ula size and redesigned/developed them to have some decent settlements.
What if they added a secondary story where it would be like the reverse of the Johto games, you start in Kanto and go to Johto
Then Johto would overshadow Kanto, that’s not making Kanto better, that’s just trying to make a mediocre region look better by putting a good one next to it.
I would love a Kanto remake as long as the story takes place in the Kanti of today and not the Kanto of the early 2000’s. Meaning they seriously should do a dramatic change to the entire region, updating it with all the fun features we know and love today. Going back to kanto with new graphics, new features, an updated region would be soooo fun
I’d expect Leaf to return, and the Sevvi Isles, so really more of a Kanto Gen 3 remake than a Gen 1 Remake.

They’ve removed individual HMs before, upgrading and downgrading them as they please, so it’s perfectly reasonable that they’d go back to HMs.
Also the Poketch was a mandatory gift and the Xtransceiver function of the C Gear was necessary for certain stoy events.
Changing individual HMs and completely removing/adding them are on a completely different scale
Also, the difference between those and the HMs and their replacements is that they haven’t been around since the start and change every Gen
I think that Sinnoh will return to HMs, but then future gens (outside of the 1-5 remakes) will utilize something similar to Pokeride.

Completed the Pokefinder. All that’s left on the passport is Battle Tree stuff, but I’ll wait for Pokebank to take that on.
The battle tree is indeed a pain, I resorted to the battle royal to earn BP, where winning the battle is effectively a gamble.
I haven’t even done the Battle Royal yet xD I’m really holding onto the hope that I can transfer my BP from Bank so I can get all the necessary battle items and power items and then will take on both facilities xD
Royal’s easy enough to reach master rank without IV training but it’s random enough that it might take several goes.
On the bright side, Master Rank awards 5 BP for first place, 3 BP for second, 2 for third and 1 if you loose, so even if you fail – you win.
I agree Battle Royales are fun cos of that aspect. You have to actually guess what each of of the other three are going to do.
And then all three of them gang up on you 3 turns in a row, and you realise it’s a conspiracy…

Yeah, I get more kills stolen from me than I do actual kills. It really makes you realise how horribly slow gen 6 Pokemon are. Not to mention those 1-hit kills.

Christmas is just another day, for the fifth straight year no big epic game or product to look forward too but I kinda lost faith in my parents being able to procure high end consoles for Christmas time since it takes a dedicated gamer to follow release dates and acquiring them before the market is bled dry (nothing against them but it’s just a very cutthroat market that you have to be informed)

Ahh, that’s great! The only competitive one I’ve bred and have ready for battle is Shiny Decidueye xD I also have Zygarde EV trained and Lv 100, but I’m not gonna be using him in battles haha, more of an in-game enjoyment for battling through the League etc lmao.
I haven’t collected all the Zyagrde cells, but honestly if I’m gonna use one competitively I would use the 50% forme with Sub Coil set. Had some fun with it last gen (100% is completely broken with the same set).
Sometimes I don’t even know if I’ll do much competitive battling this gen, but i’m breeding just for the sake of it :p
That’s the Zygarde I have :3 I’m honestly the same, not sure how much I’ll battle, but I still enjoy collecting them and having the options available for the chances that I do 😀

I had a worrying thought, what if the walking animations are for a new MD game that uses the SM engine?
Not possible. One: that wouldn’t make any sense as GameFreak doesn’t make the MD games and have no connection to them other than the franchise in general. Second: It wouldn’t make any sense to have the models there anyway (even if they did use the engine some how) as it wouldn’t be needed. They weren’t used in the actual game so it makes zero sense for them to be used by a game that isn’t a main series game.
It wouldn’t matter as much if they shared assets, since they can re-use them.
And not only that, the models in SMD are different from the ones in XYORAS…

One thing that watching all the Pokemon walking animations has me wondering about is how they’d look in the over world. As far as keeping up with our trainer that is. For most Pokemon it won’t be a problems, but I’m wondering about the much slower moving Pokemon like Slowpoke. Even while running I can’t imagine their animation will look all that fast. So when moving at faster speeds (running) or even while waking will the whole thing look awkward? Almost like we’re dragging them along? It wasn’t an issue in HGSS as they were sprites, but now that we can see their whole bodies in full I think it could be a weird looks. Any thoughts?

What is this Pokémon Star I have just read about?
It’s another rumor from Eurogamer. Supposedly there’s a main series Pokemon game coming next year to the Switch. It’s either specifically called Stars or that’s just the code name of the game. Either way what ever it is is supposed to be a brand new story. Hard to say exactly what that entails tho. Given Eurogamers track record I’d say it’s pretty likely well see a game announcement sometime next year for a new game release for the Switch. The game will likely come out in late 2017. Presumably similar to SuMo

I never actually gave my thoughts on this 2017 movie teaser. The animation style is absolutely gorgeous, along with that glorious art of Ho-oh! I’m slightly concerned that they’re continuing the Kanto throwbacks into another year but I’m hoping that next year’s game is somehow connected. I saw a Pokémon Indigo rumor today, but I think it will be Pokémon Stars with a Kanto afterstory. You really can’t count the movies and anime out anymore, as they commonly hint towards the future. We all thought that Zygarde Complete would headline its own game but it was shoved off to the side. Who knows what’s happening now, all bets are off.

Found my shiny female salandit after 27 sos battles!!! Actually it’s after 287 sos cause yesterday I did 260 sos battles and i only found a shiny male salandit at 90 sos (and I had to kill it to go on). It has three ivs at 31(ps, def, speed) and one iv at 30 (which is attack, so unuseful), it has a mild nature, which is pretty good but a mediocre sp. att. (I have to give it a bottle cup). I must say this is the easiest shiny I have found cause the others were found at higher number of encounters (Bagon: 150; Dewpider: 147; Bounsweet: never found after 520; Eevee: never found after 500). There’s something in me that tells me that salandit has a higher shiny rate in sos battles then other pokemon cause 27 and 90 are really easy to reach.
If you want to try for it, I’ll leave you my personal strategy:
1) Find a cute charm male sylveon. Take it to lv. 45 or above and teach it Misty Terrain, Hidden Power (must be something not resisted by salandit), Psyshock and Shadow Ball. Let it hold the terrain Extender. Put Sylveon in first slot. This will increase the chances of salandit to be female to 66,6%.
2) Find a pokemon with False swipe. No matters who, just at a good level (I used a lv 58 Fearow).
3) Buy 30 Hyper Potion, 30 Full Restores, some Adrenaline Orbs and have about 50 Leppa Berries.
Now, save the game and find a salandit in West Welia Volcano (better there cause at lower level), at first turn use adrenaline orb and wait for it to call for help even at full health. When the help arrives switch to the pokemon with False Swipe and use False Swipe on the last pokemon arrived, then swith again on Sylveon and first of all use Misty Terrain. Then kill the salandit at full health and go with the chain.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) Sylveon MUST be on first slot and must be active in battle, otherwise all salandit will be males.
2) Kill the caller after 25 salandit, 50 salandit, 75 salandit and so on to avoid struggle. You can count them looking at Sylveon moves. Uses the turns in which no one comes to restore Sylveon PP with Luppa Berries or to set up the Misty Terrain or to restore Sylveon HP.
3) When a new Salandit arrives Sylveon MUST be on the field. Even when you have to change the caller you need two salandit on the field, Salandit must not call for help while your False Swiper is on the field.
4) The chances of finding a shiny with the shiny charm are 1/620 after 70 sos battles. After 255 sos battle the chain breaks, I can confirm it cause yesterday I caught my 260 salandit and it had no perfect ivs. So at 260 turn off the game (to save all the items you spent) and start again. Trust me, it’s better to rest a bit cause there’s really no reason to go on with the chain.
5) If you find a shiny male salandit (It will probably happen, so be prepared) you can decide to catch it or to kill it and go on to 255. Your choice. I killed mine but found nothing after that in my first chain so I think I should have caught it.

P.s. really important thing I forgot: Turn off the battle animations. This will help save a lot of time.

I just left a Japanese Ditto with a Dhelmise. Masada Method + Shiny Charm = very quick shiny time!
I had my 6ivs shiny modest popplio after 454 eggs. Not exactly quick but eggs seem to hatch faster then gen 6 with Tauros

Johto as a region is nice and some of the Pokemon are cool. But the games had incredibly terrible pacing and the fact that the Johto Pokemon are so scarce in their own region really bothers me. And the games require a stupid amount of grinding with a serious lack of tough opponents to fight. Victory Road doesn’t even have any trainers in it.
