Combat Power Nerfs & Buffs Coming to GO

As usual, Niantic has released some details on their next update for Pokémon GO!

This time around the latest update to their popular mobile game will make adjustments to the Combat Power of several Pokémon: increasing the CP of Pokémon such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar (mentioned specifically), and lowering the CP of other, unspecified Pokémon.

In the words of Niantic, “These changes will allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms. We will continue to adjust the CP going forward to improve the game balance when necessary.”

No word on an official list of all the effected Pokémon, however if you open up the app the changes to CP have already been implanted! Check out Niantic’s official blog for their full statement!

In addition to this, in celebration of Thanksgiving, starting November 22nd users will be able to enjoy a week of double XP and Stardust!

  1. I haven’t launched this game in months. A game I have played a little bit recently is Pokémon Sun. I just finished the UB side quest, it was extremely fun. I just found out that Celesteela is exclusive to Moon though…I have Moon as well, but it will be a while until I want to start a new Alola playthrough. There’s also a reward at the end, make sure you commit…

    • That’s the thing about there games. They give you problems just as you’re getting comfortable. It keeps you on your toes lol

      • It’s a ton of fun when it’s like that. Definitely better than XY which held your hand through the entire game and had zero difficulty.

  2. Also they aren’t focusing on the right things IMO. The fun was never in the battles for me, it was in the collecting and hunting.

So fix the d*mn tracker Niantic!! It’s been MONTHS!!

  4. Hey can someone who can breed in gen 7 test something for me? It could be quite interesting to some.
Could someone breed a starter with a male in their egg group caught in a different ball and see if it passes down at all. Also can someone try both a Male and Female in different Balls with a Ditto? I want to know how Pokéball inheritance works in gen 7 after some rumours I’ve read. If Males can pass them without Ditto we may be able to have things like Safari Ball Rowlet, Dream Ball Popplio or Sport Ball Litten etc.

        • Nope. Just hoping it’s true. Sorry. Haha I feel like fixing any gaps relating to passing down PokéBalls through breeding need fixed. Mainly because most competitive players don’t breed, they just hack for their team or someone else does for them. And regardless of how one feels about that, its dumb that some people get harassed when their Aegislash is illegally in a Dream Ball despite the Aegislash’s stats being 100% legal.

          • My only issue is if the Male and Female Pokéball don’t match and you’re trying for a shiny offspring in a specific Pokéball you may end up with the wrong one. Which is why I want to test it so much.

  5. Every time there’s a Pokemon GO article the comments are super predictable lol. It’s always “add Johto”, “fix the tracker”, “nobody plays this game anymore”.

But seriously fix the tracker. xD

    • My issue is that I’ve already caught all of them that aren’t exceedingly rare (Charizard, Dragonite, etc.) so it’s no fun for me to play anymore.

        • There’s no point for me to play it when I’ll only get some fun out of it on a very rare occasion, but it was a ton of fun when it first released.

          • Plus it’ll be cold out when they do release it (at least in my area) so it’ll be less fun than it was in summer.

          • I don’t think gen 2 is really going to be as fun as people are hoping it will be. 11/100 gen 2 pokemon are just evolutions for gen 1 pokemon, 8/100 are baby pokemon for gen 1 pokemon, and 6/100 are legendaries (meaning we won’t get them at release, if ever). So that’s only 73 new pokemon to catch and a lot of them are part of a line 😛

  6. Benefits of Thanksgiving break week:
    1) More time to play Moon.
    2) More time to play Moon.
    3) More time to play Moon.
    4) More time to play Moon
    And
    5) More time to play Moon.

  7. Something I find interesting: Hau refers to the aether paradise as “a branch” of the AF in Alola. Does this mean we might see more if it really is just a branch?

  8. If I timetravel in the game (I played at 15h, but it’s almost 22h now and I don’t want to play at night), will it change anything? (I’m still in the beginning, trainer’s school)
