  1. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS
Episode 6 has been my favorite so far! Johto is my favorite region, it has some of my favorite pokemon too! What makes me love it so much is how “Japanese” it is, and Ecruteak is my favorite pokemon city ever, considering it’s based on Kyoto (I dream of the day I visit Japan). Sorry for all of this but these two episodes made me want to play SS again. Going to restart it rn. What pkm should I have?

  2. Sorry for posting this here-and someone may have already mentioned this a long time ago and I did not see it-I don’t see an article detailing the new Sun and Moon trailer and the 5th trail captain Ilima.

  3. I’m afraid this will just make stupid people call them legendary dogs again, even though they are clearly a lion ,a cheetah and a sabertooth tiger

  5. Loved episode 5. Great contuniation of Giovanni’s story from episode 2. Unfortunately I don’t think there is much more material that ties up what happens to Giovanni beyond this.
Not really sure what the purpose of episode 6 was, we already knew the backstory of the Legendary Beasts.

Look to me like they go to Gen 3 in the next episode as they seemed to have wrapped up Johto. But I would like one more episode based on Lugia just to finish things off.

  6. So far, the only decent episodes in my opinion are 4 and 6. Episode 6 deserves way more than what this series is giving it. Spectacular animation, great atmosphere, expanded the lore a tiny bit, you could really feel it when Ho-Oh came down and rebirthed them and again when the townspeople chased them away. However, episode 5?… GREAT animation of two people talking =D

    • There are two types of people. Those who love good dialogue between 2 characters, and those who love an interesting narration.

      • Lol I can see why you’d say that, I was thinking the same up until halfway through episode 6. Then I think I made my peace with the fact that nothing’s really happened in this series and probably never will.

        • Yeah, I think we just have to kind of make peace that these are (sadly) not intended to be a continuous narrative. They’re more fun if you take them as kind of 5 minute Pokemon fairytales, like little short fanservice stories from a book ^^

  7. Episode 6: stupendous, exceptional, beautiful animation with an emotionally pulling plot as well and delved into what made Johto such an amazing and adventurous ride with its in-depth lore about humans and Pokemon and exploration of Pokemon as characters

    – Johto remains the perfect blend of the old and new with how it told the story of Pokemon and people. Ho-Oh and Lugia weren’t the goals of Team Rocket. Instead, Team Rocket’s goal was to revive their long dead organization and get the attention of their leader. Ho-Oh and Lugia were awe-inspiring and tied into the story in a unique and novel way. For the proceeding four generations, antagonistic teams would use the power of the legendary Pokemon to get what they want and that took away from the characteristics of the legendary Pokemon themselves. Ho-Oh and Lugia tied into the Johto story in an incredibly compelling and awe-inspiring way and that is why HeartGold/SoulSilver are the second best games in the Pokemon franchise for me before Black/White. They felt like legendary Pokemon, they felt like truly magnificent beasts, and for a long time, Pokemon has been missing that part of its story-telling: making the legendary Pokemon tie into the story in a novel way as well as making them true characters.

    • Honestly I disagree. Lugia and Ho-oH feel like afterthoughts in their own games. If it didn’t force you to go catch/defeat them, I honestly would just move right on past them. G/S might as well just not have had title legendaries. They’re basically a side quest.

      • I guess our experiences were different. I was more enthralled and captured by the legendary quest with the kimono girls and the legends surrounding Lugia and Ho-Oh than the Team Rocket shenanigans.

        • I mean I love Johto, but I feel the plotline was pretty weak. I didn’t enjoy Team Rocket.2 at all either. That said, HG/SS are definitely some of the greatest pokemon games if not THE greatest.

          Reply
          • Agreed. Words cannot describe how quintessential HG/SS are: classic Pokemon formula tinkered to perfection, iconic legends and simple story-telling, integration of two regions, plethora of post-game, etc… Simply iconic.

    • Couldn’t agree more. Johto is dripping in rich, beautiful history and lore, and Ho-Oh and Lugia are so well embedded in that lore. Their respective hideaways are iconic locations that tie into the Johto mythos.

I hate that legendaries have become nothing more than ‘evil team needs legendary to exploit for evil!’ plot mcguffins. We never even got to see Xerneas and Yveltal outside of the team’s secret base…how much more interesting would they have been, available to challenge in a peaceful fairy forest or at the top of a dark mountain? Sigh.

      Johto rules ^^

    • This was beautiful tbh! This is what I have always felt about this series! It has the potential for sooo much depth and lore and the legendary Pokémon are a cornerstone of that. I had actually always had this idea in my mind of a Pokémon game were legendaries were not catchable in the traditional sense but rather worked like summons from other rpgs. It never made sense to me within the framework of the series that these beasts of legend, in some cases gods in their own right, could be captured and trapped by the same technology used to capture a sunkern. It just breaks the worlds believability to me

  10. Yay, they featured Eusine! Such a great underrated character IMO. I haven’t actually watch it yet though, I’m in public with no headphones. On a side note, they finally released an english version of that amazing trailer we got around a month ago. I love that trailer, it’s my favorite by far.

  11. Speaking of Torracat, I realized something today. Torracat is the starter to go from being a quadraped in itssecond stage, to a biped in its third stage! Well, if you don’t count Quilava, since Typhlosion is kinda both. Dual evos anyone? All jokes aside, have people just given up on that? Because I feel if we did get dual forms they’d only be for the final stages, I’m holding out hope.

  12. Okay so the IV checker guy told me my pokemon were:
    1) Relatively superior potential; HP, Defense, Sp. Attack
    2) Outstanding potential; Attack

Which is better to use a mother in breeding?

  13. In the newly translated “Legendaries” trailer, there’s a character during the aether foundation into part who’s name ends in “via”. Am I overlooking something or is this a new character?
