Well now that was awesome! I think they’ll likely keep the player characters as mysterious as they can to keep up with the role playing aspect. Pretty cool episode. This series is definitely very fun to watch and even though each episode is only 4-5 minutes it feels complete. I look forward to seeing the Next episode. I wonder if they’ll do silver talking to Giovanni next.
I agree, I almost can’t ask them for longer episodes because they may not turn out like this, but just filler. I do wish the series as a hole would run longer though. Not such a set amount of episodes..
Ok, this ones the Most Rewatchable one for me. The others were just ok, but this was Amazing! I finally feel how everyone else does about this series because of this episode.. until now.. I’ve been kind of pretending hehe. This Need to an entity of its own and longer or at least not stopping so soon. Honestly I am Soo Impressed! Definitely for the more mature crowd Pokemon Go bought back!
Anyone else feel Dragonite would of been a better choice for the flying riding Pokemon than Charizard.. ?

Oh and are they hinting at “Break Through” being a thing… I know odds are he meant through the crowd of other Pokemon.. but isn’t Break Through a Pokemon Card thing also? Dragonite seemed to have a sort of shield around it. Which would go Really Well with it’s ability. Kind of like Mimikyu. Or, maybe I’ve watched too many Pokemon Theories on YouTube lately.. ,=]

Break evolution just adds more HP and an extra attack or ability. Very few of them are actually good. There’s a story for the series but I don’t remember it.

I don’t see how this is even comparable to the regular anime…Origins definitely is but this? There’s hardly even a story going on here.
There’s a variety reasons to like it.
But to each his own.
Maybe because I like this more than the anime? Maybe because I tend to hate filler in anime, (and since most anime has filler, yes I hate most anime), and this doesn’t have and can’t have any. Maybe because it shows the Pokemon world in a more realistic way, (realistic for a world with Pokemon, how culture would have formed around them, how laws, crime fighting, etc.), than the insanely childish way the main anime deals with it? Maybe because I didn’t say I like this for the story or plot, but rather the world-building I listed earlier? Maybe any one of those reasons, but mainly because I like it.
I can understand if you don’t like it but that doesn’t mean I can’t.
Also I have no issue with Ash and actually think he’s a great character. My issue is that the main anime doesn’t even come close to expanding upon the potential of this amazing and deep franchise while generations does in very subtle ways.

I just really like generations, it’s fresh and has much better and *smarter* attention to detail than the anime. Like how in this episode Magnemite seemingly has sturdy as it’s the only Pokemon to survive Dragonite’s attack that KO’d all the others. It’s stuff like that I like the most. I say it way too much lol but world building is my favorite part of any series/franchise and generations is chock full of it. A series/season/game plot can have a bad story but as long as the world that it’s placed in has been properly built you know a good story can always come out of it eventually

YES YES ABD YES, totally agree with ALL of that. The only thing stopping generations from being phenomenal is the fact that they’re only mini episodes. If the anime had this more serious and realistic tone, I would be soooo happy. Also, it’s extremely refreshing to experience the Pokemon world from the POV of people who aren’t ash. Not to say I don’t like ash but as stated above, this world is so rich and full of culture. I like seeing how other parts of the Pokemon universe work when you’re not a 10 year old trying to beat the Pokemon league
I agree with Ultron. As much as quality it seems to have it cant really be considered “Better” than the anime, it doesn’t have a solid affirmative story.
Better is a subjective qualifier and I personally like it more. So yes, it can be considered better than the regular anime. But just by me lol
lance kinda sounds like Liam O’Brien. anyways, this was another fantastic generations episode. I hope they keep up this quality, and also that eventually the original anime stops being made (as unlikely as that is…)

I like dragonite a whole lot now more after watching this episode. I hope the new series has the same animation as this, its just so good and feels more like a real anime.

Another fun episode. I’m not super in the loop on Japanese culture but do they regularly associate alcohol with thugs or villains? Because that could explain the weird drunk walk.
Yeah what was with that walk? It was awful
I didn’t like this episode. Its called the Lake of Rage, but was more to do with the Mahogany hideout.
Also they could have shown the play character capturing the Red Gyarados before Lance approaches him/her and then they investigate the source i.e. Mahogany Hideout.
Overall not my favourite, but the animation was decent and Dragonite is a boss.
Still think Episode 2 was the best thus far
Before anyone says, yes I know it’s only 5 mins, I just felt it could flow a little better.
Why was Ethan/Gold even in this episode? He stood in the doorway the whole time lmao and did nothing. He definitely should’ve captured the Red Gyarados.
Exactly my point. I think they should have shown him battling and capturing the Red Gyarados with Lance watching from a distance, and then switched to the Mahogany hideout bit. The part with the grunts wasn’t needed. Should have had Lance fight Petrel and then release the Electrode….
That sounds way better already. The part where the grunts’ pokemon were all jumping up to attack looked so stale and lifeless. Golbat wasn’t even flapping its wings.
The hell? Why were the grunts walking like drunk zombies? And the attacking animation was garbage when Lance was fighting them. Petrel also would’ve most certainly died from that electric attack.
Idk, I’m not really enjoying these all that much….it’s like giving us a half-baked bite of something larger we’ll never get to fully eat.
I think they are OK so far. I agree with the pont about it being a part of something bigger than we are never going to get, but I like the added story arcs to some of the characters.
Episode 2 is my favourite so far, episode 3 was average, but this one could have definitely been done better.
If they wanted to focus on Lance, they could have also done a short arc with him, Clare, the Dragons Den and the elders, something we wouldn’t have seen before, like episode 2.
I liked ep. 1 cause of Volcarona mainly. But I also thought there was something epic about Red’s encounter with Perfect Zygarde
That was a great metaphor lol. But you have to admit, this one is definitely one of the better ones so far (This and episode one), it actually has a complete scene instead of snippets of battles.
Why thank you lol. But I’d agree this is one of the better ones, although I found some of the animation weird/sloppy. At least the dialogue was decent, even though there wasn’t much.
Oh good, I wasn’t the only one who thought the animation was a bit off in this episode xD I didn’t mention it because I worried that if there was a person out there who actually paid attention to things I commented on, they’d think I just bitched and moaned all the time. Really, I just hold Pokemon to a higher standard. I’m paranoid =P
Anyway, yeah, as far as this series goes, it’s completely average, but I’m just glad that this episode shows a little potential. Rather than all of them being like Gary’s episode where there’s a sneak peek of the battle, they actually showed the scenario.
Honestly I feel like I’m being really antagonistic right now but in comparison to Origins these just aren’t doing it for me I guess. It’s just annoying I guess because everyone’s flipping out over these and I cannot for the life of me see how these are anything more than average
Oh no, I completely understand. Felt the same way trying to explain why I didn’t think the last episode was any good. To repeat myself, “Good animation doesn’t mean squat without substance” and really, that’s what I think it is, that and the Phantom Menace Effect. The good animation is so distracting that if you allow yourself to just succumb to the color and movement, you don’t notice that they don’t really mean anything. As far as the Phantom Menace Effect, sometimes you want something to be good so badly, you don’t really notice the flaws. Which, good for you if you can do that, I can’t.
Aw, I feel like that’s so accurately painful >.< At least The Clone Wars fixed a lot of problems the prequels had, in my humbly bumbly opinion. But yeah, I totally agree with you. It's interesting to watch what they pick to focus on but it's just not something I can really get hyped over. I hope no one thinks I'm an asshole though. I just feel like Origins set me up for higher expectations
I feel like this is on par with Origins in terms of just stuff. Origins was longer though, but this is a love letter to the entire series. Personally, I like Origins more because of the story, but Generations is up there. I like it more than the official anime for sure.
I like how these follow the games more closely than the main anime, but there really just isn’t enough here for me to rank it above Kanto-Sinnoh of the main anime.

The thing is Ethan is not Red and was never as badass. Making all the characters like Red is a bad move in my opinion…Ethan definitely could have been shown doing something more than just standing in a door way.

This is a very small touch but I love how the trainers don’t shout out moves for the Pokemon to use. They just kind of use moves. It makes it seem like the Pokemon already know what the trainer wants. It has this implied deep bond between the Pokemon and trainer. Not to say I dislike that the main anime does the opposite, I just think this is a really cool way of battling.

Well, that’s Arvalis’s aesthetic with his take on “realistic pokémon”. If you read the descriptions of the individual pieces, you can see his “realistic” pokémon world doesn’t include conscious inanimate objects, but rather assumes every pokémon is a type of animal, however strange and protracted. That’s just how his world works, and honestly it works pretty well in and of itself as however weird and unattractive, his creations tend to be well thought out and designed.
It’s certainly well conceived and executed. I can’t imagine the time put into it. It’s just kind of strange to see them associated with animals when I’ve known their concepts for 10+ years 😛

I feel the time to “end Ash” is way past. I just don’t see them ever replacing him. We’ve seen both Origins and now Generations, which could definitely work as a reboot, but they’ve chosen to keep them on the sidelines and as miniseries. I say Ash is here to stay for a long time

Have to say I was not a fan of this episode. The rocket fight scene was so lame and all of the battles just felt like let downs actually.
I’m still alive. I thought this episode was pretty neat, especially because I love Johto so much! That one shot with Red Gyarados and Lance in the foreground was my favorite part. Also looking forward to the news on Tuesday! Other than that, Nintendo is still silent about the NX and I can’t wait for something…anything, to drop. I feel like my life is on hiatus until that machine is revealed. I sound like a corporate slave, but it really does mean a lot to me.

Late to the party but I must say. Probably favorite episode so far. Great pacing, great animation as always, but I think the thing that sold it was the quick story telling that didn’t feel rushed, like the previous ones. Although the battles definitely felt like basically nothing, it’s kinda hard to fit a good battle into 4 minute shorts

I think I have some new found respect of Dragonite after this episode, definitely going to add it on my current FireRed run.
Speaking of my run, I just caught a Diglett and maybe I am going to get an Ekans (because this run is for Pokemon I haven’t used before). I am going to add Diglett as my 6th Pokemon, but who should I replace for Ekans: Ratticate, Spearow, or Beedrill? Or don’t even use Ekans at all?
Depends if you want 2 normal types or 2 Poison. I’d say you want to keep Spearow if you don’t have another Flying type.

I use Toxic, then protect, (Crobat almost always survives the first hit since I max out his HP), then confuse ray, then protect, and then bravebird.

I was thinking that the reasons the paws get so big is because it uses its paws for attacking and digging and as it evolved the paws got bigger and bigger then as its final litten’s paws became its main way to attack

1) Pokemon takes liberties with designs. Hydreigon is based on a Yamato no Orochi (which is an 8 headed serpent) and also a hydra.
2) It definitely looks like part of it could be based on some type of bird with the beak like mouth. It doesn’t HAVE to be part lion. Really the only “lion” part of the griffin is the hind legs and tail…it’s not a huge deal

I made a lucario one of these once. I was at the school’s library to renew a book and I was using it. The librarian was like “Make sure you get a real bookmark” and gestures towards a little thing filled with regular book marks. I was just “oh, hehe yeah” but inside I was like “how could uuuuui”
Oh my gosh! That happened to me too in 6th grade with my Shedinja one. I never got books at my school’s library again. I get them at the city library now.
I don’t really blame her though. She probably didn’t get a good look at it and thought it was just a random scrap of paper. I should make some new ones

Ahhh I loved Super Paper Mario! Yeah the entire game was pretty much based around a mechanic where you could change the world from 2-D to 3-D. Made for some interesting puzzles and level design

I haven’t personally seen this before, but apparently it heavily implies that starter evolutions will be revealed on Tuesday. Exciting stuff! I just hope they have a little bit more than that, because I’m selfish 😛
It implies it, but doesn’t outright confirm it according to Serebii on Twitter. Having said that, it would make sense for the starter evos to be revealed on Tuesday, since they probably want to showcase them a fair bit, and Corocoro will probably focus on Type: Null.
The only implication is that there are the starters juxtaposed with 04/10/2016
Car got broken into while I was at work, looked like they were trying to hot wire and steal it, but couldn’t figure out how. Luckily nothing was stolen. Was fine while filing police report and getting good kids, but now home with babies sleeping, I can’t get to sleep, got doors all double locked, monitors up and taper on my night stand, but still can’t get to sleep. Man, I hate this feeling…
