pretty sure you cant actually “soft reset” one
But I think you can make it start roaming (or have it roaming already) and if on the first encounter its shiny, then it’ll continue to be shiny..
Oh, so you can just save before you run off to encounter it, then keep trying to see if it’s shiny? Cool, cool. I’m going to do that for Latias eventually.

Shiny Latias was easiest to get in Petalburg City HGSS because you can save right in front of it, sadly that event expired I think.
