The very first Pokémon is set to air in North America on Cartoon Network on January 4th at 8:30 am (confirm with your local listings). The movie has been digitally remastered and should be a real treat for older fans of the series who may have seen the movie when they were younger.

Movie Synopsis

Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, had ambitious plans to take over the world, involving his latest experiment, a powerful clone of Mew—Mewtwo. Mewtwo is very powerful, and also very smart—smart enough to not want to be controlled by Giovanni. It escaped from the lab, and now Mewtwo begins to concoct its own scheme, clandestinely inviting a number of Pokémon Trainers to the ultimate test. Of course, if it’s an event for talented Trainers, Ash Ketchum will be right in the front row!

Ash’s excitement turns to fear and anger when Mewtwo reveals its plan for domination, creating powerful clones of all of the kids’ Pokémon so it can even the “imbalance” between Pokémon and their Trainers. Despite Ash’s protests, Mewtwo refuses to believe that Pokémon and people can be friends. But faced with the determination of a young Trainer and the love of his Pokémon, Mewtwo just might have to reconsider, especially when pitted against the power of the mysterious Mew! — Official Site

  1. I’m just posting this comment after seeing some of the below comments. The reason that Ash is still 10 is that it’s a kid show, it’s as simple as that. Kid shows aren’t mean’t to keep up with the character’s age. Pokemon isn’t the only kid show that does this although Pokemon is the longest lasting. If Ash was 14/15, teenagers might be able to relate with him by majority of viewers are young kids and they might not understand his attitude. And imagine this, 5 or 6 years on, Ash is 20/21. Once Ash hits that age, the Pokemon television show would most likely stop all together because it wouldn’t be a kid’s show any more and at least 75% of viewers are young kids. Unfortunately, even I hate this situation because this means we’ll have a 10 year old Ash travelling around every new region and him acting like an idiot for the entire time. I rarely watch the television show because the main thing I dislike about it is that the television show doesn’t even closely resemble the manga or the latest games. A great Pokemon anime in my opinion would be if Nintendo could make an anime to resemble the latest Pokemon each time they came out so we could see the game story played through by the hero of the game and not just the player making every choice for him/her.

    • But the thing is, it isn’t just a regular show, like say Fairly odd Parents for example, where random things happen every episode so you can’t tell how time has progressed, if it has at all,as Timmy has been 10 for the entire show lol. But yeah with an anime like Pokemon that shows progression in its episodes you would think you would see some progression in age

    • Well, if he at least ages a year for every two regions, he’d be 12 and a half now, and I doubt they’d keep him as the protagonist by the time he becomes 18.

  2. I decided that I’m going to take the Pokedex completion in chunks to simplify it…I’m starting with Kanto and then on to Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova.

  3. Should I start my homework for break now so I can play Pokemon later? Or do I not do it at all and wait ’till later tonight… *sigh*

  4. If I’m having trouble beating Valerie does that mean my team is underdeveloped? (I know I’m behind, father ahead in my other playthrough though;))

    • yep. And if you talk to Tierno he gives you 1 heart scale once per day. Shauna talks about a new region that she can’t wait to have memories in, and one of the chefs in Le Wow apparently has a Victini that it uses a v-create to prepare your meal.

    • He’ll tell you which IV is the highest, and if he says after that “stats like those, they simply can’t be beat” it means that IV is perfect, if the IV is below a certain point, he’ll comment on how bad it is.
