Ash’s adventures in Kalos are about to begin (in English)! Fans of the Pokémon anime series will be able to watch the latest series, which takes place in the Kalos region starting on the 18th of January, 2014 on Cartoon Network. While details for fans in the US were the only ones revealed we will provide more details when they are available!

    Ok, there were two Mawile cameos in the first few episodes of the XY anime, but after that, no more cameos!!!

      • Mawile made a cameo appearance in XY002 and XY005. Ever since its debut episode, its made cameo appearances. It had cameos in Battle Frontier and DP as well. It makes me sad. I want to see it again, as an actual animated Pokemon.

          • It’s alright. IDK what else needs screen time though (not counting the Porygon line because of you know what).

            Also, Mawile was never mentioned to be a Steel type in its debut episode, and it’s Steel/Fairy now. They’ve got to give it screen time and incorporate its typing.

  83. Ok so this Togetic I recently got Boss… I don’t even say boss lol.. but after taking down entire teams including mega evolutions on its own I am truly impresses.. My Fave Pokémon! I still lode from time to find but that is because I use him wrongly sometimes lol and because I only have 3 other Pokes I use which will all be replaced when I start over, I am focusing on stats now.. but I will keep this Togetic of course 🙂

  95. Nine years ago I caught my first shiny, a trapinch. I gave that pokemon to my friend because he asked for it. Until recently, I believed that it was lost forever, as he did a new game. Today, his older brother was talking to me on the bus and said that in fact, he had traded what is now a shiny flygon to his own sapphire version. He told me I could have it. Of course, keeping true to the common courtesy of my Korean heritage, I refused the offer politely, but I know realize the immense sentiment that that pokemon holds. To have it back would be like regaining the trophy of my childhood. Shiny Flygon, the desert spirit.

    • I get tired of IV breeding now and then… my shiny Hydreigon has 31/31/30/31/31/30…. 2 points off from being perfect. And my shiny Weavile lacks HP IV, but has 31 for the rest. I can’t complain though, I love all of my shiny.

        • When he catches Fletchling (that’s not a spoiler because he always catches the regional bird), he battles it instead of just throwing a Pokeball at it.

          Also, remember those awesome battle strategies he used in DP? For example, telling Infernape to use Flare Blitz underground to get rid of Paul’s Drapion’s Toxic Spikes (sorry if that was a spoiler). Anyway, he uses smart strategies again.

          I admit, he still has his goofy moments at times, but they’re not as bad as in the past and they don’t happen often.

          Oh, they finally broke Ash’s grass starter chain!

          • Im not even a fan of the anime in general. Hell, im not even a fan of anime. Its just all I remember from the show when I was a little kid is that ash is SOOOOOO annoying…

          • Character development is more important than character looks. And they’re doing a pretty good job at it. Of course there’s more than can be done, but that’ll be for future episodes.

          • That’s right! They have the VS. transition when a Gym leader is battling! I love that new element they added!

            And they got rid of Pikachu’s STUPID metallic Iron Tail in BW and brought back the old Iron Tail that was so missed and loved!

    • I have a feeling Ash will FINALLY win the league. With how well the XY Anime is going, story-wise and character-wise, and the fact that there are new writers, I’m sure they’ll finally break this chain (at least I hope). He’s more determined at winning the league more than ever before, and even he himself said that he’s tired of always losing the league.

      Speaking of chains breaking, here’s a few chains that have broken in the XY anime:

      1. The cook of the group (was always pissed that no one could cook on their own in the past without “the cook”).
      2. Ash’s catching the grass starter (about time this chain ended).
      3. The majority of the group being guys (this time it’s half and half; two guys and two girls).

      I’m sure there’s more, but this is what I could come up with for now.

        • That’s what I’m hoping to, and it might happen. His water starters never evolved because they were cute (which is a dumb reason to not evolve them). However, Froakie isn’t cute. It’s bad@$$!!! And it’d be freaking sweet to see Ash have a Greninja!

    • I do. I really liked using it in BW, and just need the right one in X/Y. I used Jolly, max atk/speed Moxie, with EQ/Stone Edge/Dragon Claw/Aqua Tail. Did really well, and the Aqua Tail catches people off guard, especially in the rain.

  128. GUESS WHO!? Been doing a lot of wonder tradin, with all of the rejects from my breeding project, and i finally got a reflect type gastly! and, a skill swap Ralts! Skill swap Mega gardevoir teaming up with archeops sounds good to me, as his defense is terrible already, so the defeatist wont hurt him very much. and pixilate archeops would be pretty funny to me. Looks like almost everyone is on break. Have a good one guys, and let this winter break be filled with a lot of POKEMON!

    • better yet, just skill swap with a furfrou and get both a usuable defense and special defense with respectable speed and monstrous special attack

      • Yup, but i was thinkin’ about doubles strategies to help archeops. the only way archeops can ignore defeatist is to go special, and with 372 special attack, it’s plausible, as is a mixed one, but with 416 attack, physical seems the way to go. and my archeops is adamant, so it needs a bit of support

Soo, for someone with better shiny luck than moi, can someone tell me the point of tipping for shinies? i heard tipping 10k can increase shiny chances supposedly, but i can’t tip more than 1k at once anywhere i’ve been to. does it really help? Marriland said he thinks it does on his stream on wednesday, but i just wanted a second opinion

    • Being a shiny magnet, I can say that yes, tipping does increase the chances of finding shinies. I’ve been tipping people since day one, and have found six shinies, whereas my bro has found one without tipping people. Using the Amulet Coin in Battle Chateu is the easiest way to earn some extra cash if you are ever low on it. You can also rebattle Serena everyday if you’ve beaten the game. With the Amulet Coin, she gives you 14,000 Pokedollars.

      • Maybe, but when you catch Latias/os it says that they were caught in the Dreamyard instead of a Far Away Place. Unless when you transfer them, their location will change.

I don’t have any dreamyard eon twins as i never got bw2. all my eon twins come from the gen 4 soul dew event that i got from trades and distros. i have a lv100 shiny ev’d latios on my white im waiting to trade over. don’t plan on using it actually, as i hate latios and latias, but it’s nice to haz

          • They were really poorly done to me, and just too similar design and stat wise, which is good as they are siblings. But i have a bias against pokemon that are used so much it isn’t funny, like the eon duo. Latios especially. and most of the gen 3 legends weren’t my thing, as the regi’s were honestly the only legends i liked in gen 3, besides possibly groudon. and too top it all off, their megas are identical except for the fact that mega latios is higher in the air. they shouldn’t have gotten megas to me, those megas could’ve been given to better pokemon, like something from gen 5, or possibly even Darkrai. they weren’t my favs, and their poorly done megas makes me like them less

          • Really? I couldn’t see in any photos. Whats the difference, red and blue, or their shiny orange and green, or something different entirely?

        • Its a status move in a sense yeah. Realy good against Mega Mawile. Predict a Sucker Punch, become a Steel/Fairy Gengar, then tank everything but Iron Head basically. It’s a good move, and can be really useful in the right situation

          • Just wait until the next games give us THE Move Tutors (the ones that teach 20 different moves besides Draco Meteor, Pledge Moves, Elemental Hyperbeams, Relic Song, and Secret Sword). Then Mawile will be able to learn Fire Punch!

            EDIT: It can’t in Gen V. My bad, but there’s Fire Fang via breeding.

          • I can finally get my Dual Chop Infernape back! And i can get Seed Bomb Donphan again. Pff, fire Punch Megawile. Rocky helmet Chesnaught survives that.

          • Chesnaught’s defense is that good? IDK that. Anyway, I made a mistake. Mawile can’t learn Fire Punch (in B2W2 anyway).

          • haha, Fire Fang maybe, but that’s an egg move. and chesnaughts defense is off the charts. The recently banned mega lucario can;t even OHKO physically defensive chesnaught with a +2 CC, even after adaptibility. scared me when i survived that. the rocky helmet seed stall is too strong.

            Now i’m not defending Smogon or any of their decisions, but in all fairness no one forces you to use their rules. They are simply a community who enjoys playing the way they do, I personally don’t see anything wrong with that. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to be affiliated with them in any way.

            And for the record I 100% agree with all the Pokemon they have banned thus far, but that is just me. And yes i have used both Mega Gengar (they may have been a but hasty with this one) and Mega Kangaskhan and know just how strong they can be if used right.

    Gen 3-(This is one of the hardest choices ;_;) MUDKIP whole line <3,TREECKOS whole line <3,Torchic,Blaziken
    Gen 4-Turtwig,Tortarra,Infernape,Empoleon
    Gen 5-Serperior,Tepig,Oshawott <3,Samurott
    Gen 6-Chespin whole line <3,Fennekin,Delphox,Frodagier
    Gen 3 and Gen 6 are my favorite starters 😀 I adore Oshawott too 🙂

  212. So if I breed a female starter from Pokegen with its Hidden Ability, will her offspring have a chance of having its hidden ability as well? Because I plan on doing that so I can have a legit hidden ability starter.

    • From Generation V, female Pokémon with Hidden Abilities have a 60% chance of passing on the Hidden Ability to their offspring when bred with a male Pokémon from the same Egg Group.

          • I have both so I’m rushing through my hg to get that kyogre and transfer my ss pokemon over. Unfortunately the ss groudon and rayquaza was one of the few pokemon lost in the process of canine digestion so I’m going to restart the soulsilver with a differant starter

          • I remember waiting for this game to come out. It was the revolution of pokemon. First time they had ever made double battles with a whole new pokedex with more pokemon than before and legendaries that looked threatening. It was truly a wonderful game

          • Hoenn (Emerald for me) was/ is/ and will forever be my favorite pokemon game EVER… Let me rephrase that. Emerald was/ is/ and will forever be my favorite GAME EVER, not just pokemon game but game in general!

          • The music was the best for me and the fact it was on a tropical island and not just some ordinary island, It was colourful and had a story line that made sense and was the first ever formula of how you end up catching the legendaries. It also had the greatest characters and not to Mention a champion that had a team made of steel types that completely screwed you over even if you picked blaziken(I’m talking about Armaldo guys who did not get screwed by its rock slide?) it was the best pokemon game ever and they need to recreate it like how they recreated gold and silver. They need to keep that ingrediant that made the music a joy to listen to

          • The music was absolutely EPIC like you said, Hoenn gym leader music is my favorite gym music. The storyline for the first time made since. And even though i chose Emerald and Wallace the champion (which doesn’t make since to have a water 8th gym and water champion) and i choose Sceptile. But i can tell you when i fought Steven in Meteor Falls, He basically wrecked my team from every direction, and my team nothing to fight steel types with and for the fact that he was in the late 70’s, my goddess i thought i would NEVER beat him. His metagross was just so annoying, and so was his armaldo (like you said). WHY DOES THAT THING HAVE AERIAL ACE!!! Almost all of Armaldo moves counter at least one of my pokemon. Right then and there i said i hated that game because of Steven, but deep down i couldn’t live without it. I remember i beat him because his Armaldo used water pulse on my aggron and i lived because Armaldo has Terrible Sp. attack.

          • In Ruby version, Steven wrecked me every time ;_; I had to keep re-doing the Elite 4, and finally, in one battle it came down to his Metagross and my Sceptile. Leaf Blade FTW!!!

          • These qualities is what makes the game most memorable, yes Cynthia was hard only due to the lack if type benefits against her also no one was smart enough to use a Weavile apparently but stephen had hardly any counters to him. He had none steel types that covered his weaknesses. He was a monster to battle

          • Cynthia would cover stephen with her gastrodon and stephen would cover the rest of her pokemon with his metagross and aggron

          • This my sound weird but Aggron was Stevens easiest, Steven just didn’t know how to use it. It knew, Thunder, Dragon Claw, Solarbeam and EQ. I know it was probably to cover his types but 3 out of 4 of those are sp. Attck which Aggron can not use very well, His EQ was monstrous though.

          • Maybe in a R/S remake he can mega evolve his Aggron that would be epic… or maybe he could mega evolve his metagross That would a nice show way to show off Mega metagross… I will be prepared to get swept multiple times

          • The only pseudo to get mega is tyranitar and even then they made him a little but better. I reckon he would mega evo his aggron. Metagross is too OP saying that most Mega’s are op pokemon for some reason so yeah

          • I was thinking hat while typing that, Mega metagross would be TOO powerful unless they made little changes

          • That would be very interesting, they would need more sp attacks for it to know because it barely knows that many good ones

          • Didn’t find her hard, but she annoys me. Never getting to see the final evolved form of the starters? Wtf? That should be fixed in the remakes, and also give Wally the Rival Battle theme as well.

          • OMG in the little route under cycling road, She beat me so many times i don’t why i had 5 pokemon and she had three and kept losing

          • No my starter was sceptile, but I have played through with blaziken on my sapphire which I never completed. On ruby I picked sceptile as well on emerald

          • All my pokemon except gardevoir and aggron, but the sunny day plus overhead PLUS white herb wrecked me

          • I will challenge it, its too bad i don’t have my Hoenn team, then the nostalgia will flow greater.

          • I was considering changing up some team members, especially considering adding Excadrill since that seems like the perfect Pokemon for him seeing as he digs for fossils :3
            But I decided I love his original team too much, the two fossil Pokemon since he does dig for stones and stuff, Claydol for defensive support, Skarmory to set up hazards, Mega Aggron, and Metagross 🙂

          • Yeah that’s why I was considering empoleon it covers fires but it has no relevance to his theme. It’s a maybe

          • EXACTLY Cynthia is hard because she can over everything but wealvile takes out a lot, Plus she had no specific type. Steven on the other hand had Steel type (mostly) and he still countered his weaknesses and if you were not prepared Steven would of demolish your WHOLE team he counters for most types, Especially fire, ground, fighting. This is why Steven is my one of my favorite Champs

          • Yup right after Cynthia they became very easy, you didn’t even battle Alder until you threw there again

          • My Sceptile beat him pretty easily and since he was a water type my method of beating the champ was (somewhat) easy

        Sinnoh- Diamond/Pearl was the order was 3rd Mayeline, 4th Wake, 5th Fantina. Platinum 3rd Fantina, 4th Mayeline, 5th Wake

        Unova- Cheren replaced the trio (actually Lenora) Roxie and Marlon was added Drayden became 7th gym leader

    • to soft reset an egg, you have to save in front of the daycare guy before he hands u the egg. hatch the egg, if it isnt shiny, reset the game, recollect the egg, and repeat.

      I personally found it better to just collect as many eggs possible, like fill up a box worth. then start hatching one by one.

  327. Guess tonight I’ll start my last shiny hunt in an electric safari for Manectric. Pleased with all the shinies I have now, have pretty much every kalosian shiny except for carbink/dedenne/barnacle.

    Really want to devote the next 3-4 days to completing rest of the dex before Bank comes, which i’ll have to further complete. Reaaaly want that shiny char item.

      • Me and my friend beat the elite 4 on our X’s at the same time. A day later I found my first two shinies Lampent/Pumpkaboo in 1 day. I quote him “you should start a shiny dex, you’ll complete it”… I toyed with the thought of that… welp looks like he was right lol. I literally completed every Kalosian shiny with the exceptions of Carbink/Dedenne/Barnacle-guy, since Yveltal & the other two legends can’t be shiny yet I don’t count them.

Also, in the XY Guide, close to the back of the book there is a page that shows 6 trainers that can be found in XY that are from their respective regions that give you a special item, it then lists the trainers. It Lists the new region as “???”, the regions I left blank I couldn’t remember the items they give.

  514. In response to Luigi301, the reason why i said we can expect two more regions for 3DS, one of them being Hoenn is because

    on page 386 of the official xy guide, it says 14 berries are unavailable in XY and will be obtainable later by transfering them from other regions. Keyword, REGIONS, with an S. Pokebank we can’t transfer items from 5th gen games. So it clearly implies we will have more than 1 new region coming. Also page 386.. take note that when gen 3 was complete we had 386 pokemon.

  527. @Themightywyvern okay so avaluggs hidden ability is sturdy. it is in the same egg group (monster) as lairon, who also gets sturdy as a regular ability. I attached everstone to lairon (male sturdy) and bred it with female own tempo avalugg, the babies come out with own tempo, two hatched with ice body. so i guess its false then.

    i havent tried breeding HA lairon yet with a female avalugg. trying it now.

      • yeah I was testing a theory a few of us were talking about earlier about possibly getting sheer force totodile (from sheer force druddigon who is in monster egg group), was testing different things to see if we’ll be able to but we won’t. 🙁

    • It has it’s uses. Infiltrator Noivern can be used to beat Gliscor.
      It is naturally speedy and has access to strong moves like, Boomburst, Draco Meteor, Hurricane. It’s SpA is not great but slap on a Choice Specs, and it can be quite beastly. Also it has access to Switcheroo to mess up other people walls by switching the choice specs to them.

  642. This morning I had a multi with random people. My partner used charizard, umbreon, and excadrill. I used gengar, kanga, and dragonite. The other team had blazekin, mewtwo, xerneas, blazekin, mewtwo and yveltal. My gengar sweeped them all, so when it finished, I was challenged to a 6 on 6 with one of the noobs. Gengar sweeped again, so he rage quit, and immeaditley went off line. My first noob experience.

          When opening the map and hovering your cursor over the Parfum Palace gives you the following statement: “A luxurious palace constructed 300 years ago by a king who wished to display his power to all”. Well, due to the fact that Kalos is based on France and the location and architecture of the Parfum Palace is recognisable as the Palace of Versailles, let’s look into some French history shall we? According to Wikipedia the Palace of Versailles is a symbol of absolute monarchy which means that one individual has unlimited power in his owned territory. So in this case we are referring to a King! And who started to order build the Palace of Versailles? Louis the thirteenth. But when he died in 1643 his successor Louis the fourteenth expanded the build and in 1697 the outer build was completed. The sole purpose was, like in Pokemon X and Y, for the King to emphasise his authority and power.

          So what does this knowledge have to do with finding out where the new region will take place? Well if we have found even a minor link to “our world” then maybe we will find more clues! In the Parfum Palace you will find a tourist who explains when the castle was built! “This castle was built after Kalos won a war with neighbouring regions.” Well if we can confirm the official completion year was around 300 years ago for the Palace of Versailles and for the Parfum Palace, maybe there was a war in that small timeline? And there was. It really depends how one defines the completion date of the Palace of Versailles. If the outer date is true (1697) then we must analyse the “Brulez le Palatinat” a massive slaughter which takes place on south-west Germany or an earlier victory of 1678 the “Franco-Dutch War” which soon escalates into a European War including Germany as well. If we where to state the interior completion date to be true (1710) then we’ll have to look at the “War of Spanish Succession”. But this isn’t necessary! The French succeeded in the “Brulez le Palatinat” and “Franco-Dutch War”, but lost the “War of Spanish Succession”. Because the two palaces where built after victories and successful kings, it wouldn’t make any sense! So our clue lies in either the Netherlands or Germany…

      plusle you find randomly in a minun horde, and its rare to do so (in Y)
      In X, you just search though the grass and you’ll find one or use a horde (w/a chance of finding minun)

    • I found three shinies in the safari. I think the chance of finding one is higher because you can only find 3 pokemon in each safari, lowering the chance.

      • yet im using the repel trick to hunt for goomy (im surfing on route 14, the only pokemon you encounter while surfing are quagsire, goomy, and stunfisk; the repel trick eliminates quagsire, and stunfisk is rare while goomy is common, so I see goomy 90% of the time), and I still haven’t found one….
