Talonflame is NOT the final evolution of Fletchling.
I agree, the designs doesn’t look as significant as what staraptor had. But what about the 3 stripes on its tail?
We just got confirmation on smash that it isn’t.
Fletchling (Baby Bird) -> Talonflame (Falcon) -> ??? (Hawk)

And in the video of the Sky Battle Talonflame is in a high level wich is 65 that makes it clear that is the final evolution

because if you look at another one of the trailers you see one of the starters fighting at lv 50 if i remember correctly.

If you look at Fletchling, it has 1 chevron on it’s tail. Talonflame has 3 chevrons. From that alone, I would assume that it’s the final stage evolution.

I would personally love it if Talonflame is only the second stage in a three stager, just does not look complete at the moment.
I prefer talonflame as the end evo but I may not if I see its artwork.. the thing that bothers me about the anime art for fletching is it looks so low quality compared to talonflame’s.. I loved fletching as soon as I saw it but it simply doesn’t match well with the anime art so far… probably looks better in the X and Y show coming up though, they do match in the games 3D though

We have confirmation that Fletchling is a 3 stage Pokemon way back when it was revealed. If you look at the artwork of the Pokedex, there are two spots after Fletchling. We know Talonflame takes one of them, leaving the other open to an evolution.
Here, have a look at what I mean.
EDIT: Also, only just clicked but look at the sprites for the Pokedex, there the same as the ones for when your looking at your party. Is that a hint that they will return?

How can it be Hariyama? -,- First of, it evolves from Makuhita, which would mean it’d move a place over to the right. Second, Fletchling is a 3 stage evolution, also proving it’s not Hariyama.
I don’t really think that sprite looks like a Flabébé… Looks more like a Pidgey. I compared and everything and it definitly looks like a Pidgey to me, which doesn’t make sense to me.
While it does look like Pidgey, don’t you think it’d be a little weird to place another bird line after the first (Especially as the 1st line is a new one) Just thinking.

Well, according to someone I know on twitter who recorded this weeks smash, nothing regarding Talonflame being a second stage or final stage was mentioned. Yes, I have nothing to back this up with because today’s smash footage is lacking(and probably won’t get uploaded), But this is smash. When is the last time they revealed anything, with the pokemon official website not updating? Now, does this mean I believe Talonflame isn’t a second stage pokemon? No. I’m saying that smash would never confirm anything like that anymore.

Do we know if horde battles could be wild encounters? I mean black and white made double wild encounters so it wouldn’t be too farfetched. I’m hoping they are more like you battle the evil team and a few grunts gang up on you at once.
… Wait, which is your question? Because as for the former, it’s confirmed that Horde Battles are indeed wild encounters with a bunch of wild pokemon at once. Otherwise, there has been nothing suggesting if it will be used in a trainer sense. Though, admittedly, that COULD be nice from a story angle. There have definitely been times where they have faced you against grunt after grunt as they are taking turns… clearly they COULD be like 4 or 5 enemies who just try to take you out at once.
Ohh okay gotcha thanks I was just asking if horde encounters were in the wild. Would be cool to see hordes when battling multiple grunts at once as well.
No problem. Now you just have me kind of hoping we do see Horde Grunts XD. The idea of taking down 5 trainers at once, almost making me think of something like Pokemon Conquest, is pretty awesome.

OK, guys… NL, one of PJs translators, got someone to take a look back at the episode. As far as they saw there was no mention of Talonflame being able to evolve, not being the final form of the line or anything along those lines.
For now everything we know know about Talonflame is as is. Smash did not reveal anything significant. We will check back again later, but don’t keep your hopes up.
EDIT: Oops, just realised he posted about this below. Well, now you get to see it twice 😉
We have got something going on here:
First of all the Pokedex image has 3 spots for Fletchling evolution line. It can be 2 stages and another standalone Pokemon there though.
Secondly the official site states that Talonflame is “an evolved form of Fletchling”. It doesn’t mention it is directly evolved from Fletchling and the wording becomes very important here.
Thirdly we have Evolving Pokemon section at official site but we do not have Fletchling line here. If Fletchling line is 2 staged then Fletchling and Talonflame should be there since they would be the first evolution line introduced before Vivillon line.
Lastly, there were arguments about size of the Fletchling and Talonflame and there should be a form between to have proper evolution line.
Assumption: Fletchling->Mid Evo->Talonflame

What are your XY teams so far im using Lucario Fennekin Noivern and maybe Absol
So far I’m thinkin Chespin Flabébé Fletchling and Noivern
Not enough revealed yet to make a final decision but I’d say it’s a safe bet that I’m using Talonflame. I’m also liking Clauncher, Helioptile, and Chespin but those could change if I find something I like better. I’m saving one spot for a Fairy type (I’d love to see how they work) and one spot for a classic like Gengar, Nidoking, or Flygon.
I’m going with a pure X an Y team. Only 6th gen Pokemon

This may be off-topic, but the E3 rumors sound quite alike to what Pokebeach’s source initially stated, with the second gym being a fairy-type gym and h also claimed that Pangoro was real, so maybe these two sources either copied information off each other (Hiro, the first source;s information was partially copied by the second source plus some other information Hiro didn’t mention or is just made up) or maybe since those two connections were made between the two sources, maybe both sides of rumors are true and we can expect everything they are saying to be true. However, the only believable information we have thus far is the information from the first source (Hiro), as he predicted the Fairy-type, the 4 English names for Pancham, Helioptile, Gogoat and Fletchling, the Parabolic Charge move, the first gym being Bug, specifically revealing Sky Battles and much more (check on http://www.pokebeach.com for WPM’s article on all of the rumors from the first source put together), but that one part about riding your Pokemon was a little off, but he only played a demo of X/Y (or so he claims) so things may have changed since then. Thoughts?
Smash was lame & boring as always. Also, why is everyone discussing Fletchling & TalonFlame? WHO CARES! Seriously, they’re just the typical bird of this gen but possibly even more weaker since Stealth Rock would eliminate them the moment they come out to battle. They’re going to have weak stats! Actually, every Pokemon revealed other than the legendaries are just basic or poorly stated Pokemon that won’t be good in battle at all.
People can use whatever pokemon they want to, regardless of stats or your negative opinion 😛
