Earlier today in Japan, at the end of a BW2 trailer, a new teaser was shown stating that the next big announcement in the world of Pokemon will happen on January 8th, 2013. There’s absolutely no hints or clues that tell us what it could possibly be about; It could be anything from a new main game reveal, to a new, lame WiFi event.
So what do you guys think it is? Or, to rephrase the question, what do you want the announcement to be? Either way, I’ve learned that you have to expect everything and nothing when it comes to stuff like this.

By the way it’s worth noting that Junichi Masuda revealed through twitter he filmed an appearance in Pokemon Sunday in December so is due to air around Jan 8th! So this could be pretty big!!

Kinda hoping for some expansion on what the fuck they smoking on that particular subject. XD
I hope its a sequel on RGB which includes Johto and Sevii Islands, like the opposite of HG/SS, however another game released on the DS is unlikely is it not?
So long as it’s a main series game and not one of the spin-offs, I don’t care what is announced: BW3, RS remakes, RS sequel, Gen 6, whatever.
has anybody thought of the possibility that the next generation’s region could be connected to unova similar to how Johto is connected to Kanto? that’s something I always wonder. Because otherwise that would mean going back to near sinnoh Kanto hoenn or Johto and essentially isolating 5th generation as somewhat of a standalone thing rather than something intertwined with the rest of the Pokemon world.

well… i think it will be something except a WiFi event… i see it this way: i think it’s normal in Pokemon Smash to say “big announcement” and the next week reveals a WiFi event, because for 7-8 years old kids it would be a big announcement… but if you put this message in a TV commercial… i think it won’t be a not-important WiFi event, i think it will be something special (i hope it is a new game)
Additionally, Junichi Masuda has confirmed via Twitter that Shigeki Morimoto (GameFreak designer and programmer) will be on Smash on the 6th~
I’m praying for R/S Remakes : )… Im too scared to actually become excited because it brought flashbacks of ‘trollings’ : D
But hey it has been like 10 years since R/S so why not celebrate and release remakes!

Perhaps it’s an announcement for a new game for the WiiU, like a Pokemon XD sequel. It probably would tie in with the mystery Pokemon near the Extremespeed Genesect; in XD, Bonsly (and Munchlax) was sort of a sneak peek Pokemon, so maybe they’ll do something like that again.
