HQ Black 2/White 2 Boxart

How do they look? Also, The Keldeo download from the movie has different moves than obviously reported. It’s level 15 and comes with the moves Aqua Jet, Leer, Double Kick, and BubbleBeam! It’s also holding a PP Max 🙂

I’d like to take a quick second to clarify that there is no “overdrive” mode. I’ve seen this phrase used on message boards and websites.  It’s never been in the Japanese information and the formes already have names, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. The jazzed up formes featured above are when Kyurem is using its signature move, either Ice Burn (White Kyurem) or Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) according to the official site.  That’s the end of today’s PSA 🙂

  1. Amazing, as expected. There’s this element of depth which hasn’t been there in previous boxarts. They’re also very dyamic compared to the usual pose.

    1. The only thing that is digimon about them is that they’re fusions, DigiXros basically but not that simple. As they look more complex than basically putting pieces together like Frankenstein. Gamefreak went out of their way to create monsters that even out awesome Zekrom and Reshiram in ways.

  2. Yes, Kyurem’s forms are still Black and White, that’s not what “Overdrive Mode” refers to.The term originated on merchandise promoting the 14th movies, specifically the Zukan 3D figures, and was used to describe the Reshiram and Zekrom figures they were releasing with their “engines” revving in preparation for their ultimate attacks. Now that Kyurem has acquired the two dragon’s tails/energy sources, it can be used for him too.

  3. I was getting both of these games anyway, but now I have a reason to keep the boxes.

  4. I like the energy tails thingies leading to the tails…
So the change in formes is like Meloettas way of changing… through the move used… interesting

    1. No, we don’t know how Kuryem actually changes to its Black or White forms in the games yet. The Overdrive form (its not an actual form change, just the term for the glowing, energy charging appearance), is what happens when they use their signature attacks, just like when Reshiram and Zekrom glow.

  5. I think they look too complicated, where’s the beauty of simpliness as in Zekrom and Reshiram?

Sorry, i don’t like these mascots.

  6. LOVING these two! ^u^

I love how simple and clean they look! The designers did a great job of blending the two base ‘mons together, I hope we see more legendaries like this in the future.

  7. It seems that Kyurem is a manifestation of cold fusion, but taking the term literally. Especially since it seems that Black Kyurem and White Kyurem will have Freeze Shock and Ice Burn, respectively, as signature moves.

  8. Huh..those tube/energy thingies, do those appear when they’re charging up/using a move, or…?

Ah and I just love how the fire on White Kyurem looks contrasting the light blue and white. I always did prefer Reshiram over Zekrom and this is just the icing on the cake for me. 😀

  9. So, if you originally played Pokemon White, should it automatically be assumed that you should get White 2? Or like, black 2 because the version mascot matches*?

*I know they don’t match but you understand.

    1. yeah if you get white you get white 2 and black goes with black 2. im sure they’ll explain the reason for the change in mascots.

    1. Can’t remember where I read it, could’ve been on one of the magazine scans. If I find it, I’ll link it 🙂

  10. I’m positive Ice Burn and Freeze Shock will have completely new/different animations in BW 2.

When they’re used, the “overdrive” mode occurs where the tubes come out, and when they finally use it, they have special animations just like Zekrom and Reshiram. Maybe they could even be powered up if used against the opposite just like Zekrom and Reshiram.
