Anime fans rejoice! After several years of absence Brock and Misty are making a (brief) return to the Pokémon anime!
Monthly Japanese manga magazine, Televi-Kun, has confirmed in their latest issue that on September 14th and 21st the original trio will be reuniting for two special episodes! In the episodes Ash & Pikachu will briefly return to Kanto, where the long time friends will battle it out! Misty is confirmed to have Mega Gyarados on her team, while Brock will have a Mega Steelix.
Who else is excited to see these guys back together and revel in some 90’s nostalgia? Any predictions for the rest of their Sun & Moon anime teams?

I was just thinking, with hints in the USUM trailer showing a place that looks really similar to Lt. Surge’s gym, and now Ash from Alola going back to Kanto meeting with Brock and Misty – this is a really odd time for Ash to be going back suddenly… Could this be like an indirect anime reveal that we can travel to Kanto?
They want you to think that so you buy the games and be disappointed.
I don’t think we’ll be returning to Kanto, but with the reveal of the Vermillion City gym copycat Kanto will definitely have a much bigger presence in Alola. That “gym” specifically is probably some kindof special building that mimics past gyms for the sake of nostalgia.

It was somewhere in XY anime but I haven’t got there yet.
It had a pitifu cameo in the Mega evolution special only showing it immediately KO’d and the very brief appearance in the Magearna movie under Jessie’s ownership but it barely did anything noteworthy only using the most pathetic move in the bug type kingdom Struggle Bug

Yeah their are certain pokemon that the games don’t do justice. I’d like to think he still has wings tucked away in there somewhere. One of the main reasons I watch the anime is to see how certain pokemon move.

Really happy the original trio get reunited.
So bascially I have lots of catching up to do.
I got to beggining of Sinnoh saga, which id like to finish then BW, XY and now SunMoon.
But nowadays I’m super busy.
So im thinking of watching last 15 eps or so of Sinnoh and Unova and jumping straight to Kalos.
Coz it feels like ill never get to SM at this rate.

Hmm I know the Sinnoh saga is meant to be one of best but it’s too long and ive lost my rythm with anime. Like back in the days I’d watch 3 episodes a night.

Sinnoh and Kalos are objectively leagues above all the other sagas. Sumo isn’t my taste, but from what I’ve seen it’s better than os and bw.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the anime. They prolly wanted to play the nostalgia card up a little. Ultimately it doesn’t matter what they wear. It was unlikely they were actually gonna have brand new clothes anyway.

Yeah I’m excited for this. I hope they have good reason to be there and it’s at least a 2 episode thing so they can have Ash battle each of them over each episode. Although apart from Lycanroc and Pikachu does Ash have anything remotely strong enough with him to battle their Megas with? I am also in two minds as to the fact that they both have Megas, whilst it is cool it also makes it seem like an easy thing to just go and get which it’s not meant to be, at least in the anime. I hope both are shown finding their Mega Stones and how they Mega Evolved for the first time. It’s almost a shame that this wasn’t the reveal of Mega Psyduck…
Brock and Misty having megas doesn’t make it easy at all. Don’t forget both are gym leaders and very competent trainers as well. They’ve been away since Sinnoh/Hoenn so they had plenty of time to acquire the power of mega evolution! xD
Yeah but it seems like a big coincidence they both happen to get them and for their Ace Pokemon too. This is why I want to see how they obtained them.
YAAAASSS. I wish it was for more than a couple of episodes, but I’m SOOO happy that Brock and Misty are gonna come back even just for a single episode each. I really hope they don’t completely recast for the English dub. If they can at least get the last people who played them back then I’ll be happy. (that said if they got their original VAs then I’d be SUPER happy lol) Anyway I find it interesting that Ash and Co. are going to Kanto. I wonder if they’ll have anyone catch a normal Kanto Pokemon and then compare it to one of the Alolan forms. Maybe a new Alolan form will be revealed by then? I’m trying not to get my hopes up that Brock and Misty will be all like “Hey Ash you’re going back to Alola? We’re coming too!!” I’d love that! Too bad it won’t happen….Anyway it’s strange they both have mega Pokemon. Well I guess not THAT strange. Megas still exist outside of Alola (technically in too tho) so it makes sense people would still be getting their hands on the stones. Funny thing is I’m already seeing people saying this is a clear sign we’ll be heading back to Kanto in USUM. They’re getting their own hopes up for nothing XP

Ash will never get a mega….even if there are new megas at one point in the future that ship has sailed……If they were gonna do it they would have in XY. Ash Greninja was the closest thing he’d ever get. the only reason they gave him Ash Greninja was so they didn’t have to give him an actual mega.

Anything Goes is only there to justify the need for a reasonable ruleset in the main tiers.
To a lesser extent and legal one that is. I was playing someone using a swagger sub Klefki which was highly annoying.

Yeah, it’s purely luck based strategy, sometimes it works out, sometimes not so much. But I’d rather not deal with it in all honesty.

Pretty much got nothing but good Moody buffs and basically avoided sweet punishment
I mean I was using my Fighting Mono and all I had to deal with was
3 Smegles, Sunkern, Xerneas, and a Mega Ray
If I could’ve Bullet Seeded the Smeragles and take them out it was just a matter of time that I wore down Rayquaza or my Pangoro would’ve easily beat Xerneas because they are mentally incapable of not running Geomancy and I’d Gunk Shot them into a Bullet Punch easy peazy
But hax and luck was systematically on his side
You don’t have Aura Sphere for evasion issues? Also what Sunkern is being used?
None of my Pokemon have access to Aura Sphere since this was my personal favorites
Emboar, Heracross, Pangoro, Kommo-o, Breloom and Throh
This team pretty much brute forces its way with the occasional Breloom savagery
Hopefully Kommo-O gets Aura Sphere in USUM.

My guess was a big “let me Baton Pass every known buff in existence just so you can be killed by the weakest Pokemon in existence” ploy but I already lost by the time he had 3 evasion boosts and wasn’t gonna let him humiliate me any further
I honestly can’t remember a time when I was THIS excited about the anime hahahaha Gonna try and not get my hopes up for too much craziness, but just the idea of Ash finally seeing his old friends again gives me goosebumps. I hope the second episode ends with all 3 of them taking out Team Rocket and sending them blasting off. That would really tickle my fancy. The only thing that would be better is if they came back to Alola with Ash, but unfortunately I don’t see that happening……

Presumably the Japanese VAs will definitely come back. They’re pretty good at keeping characters voices with single people unless someone dies. I’m hoping they get the originals for the English dub, but I would settle for the second set of ones they had last. I just don’t want to have them be voiced by some completely different people yet again this time around. There doesn’t need a 3rd set of VAs. Just bring back the ones from AG and DP and that’ll be fine.
I really hope so. While Im happy Misty is coming back, it wont be quite the same if it’s a different voice
