Throughout the course of Pokémon Red, Blue, Green and Yellow, you’ll need to defeat a total of eight Gym Leaders and earn their badges so that you can challenge the Elite 4 and become the region’s new Pokémon Champion.

Gym Leader Brock (Boulder Badge)
Brock is the Gym Leader of Pewter City’s Pokémon Gym. He is the first gym leader you will battle who specializes in rock-type Pokémon. Defeat him and he’ll give you TM34 (Bide).

We recommend using Water-, Fighting- or Grass-type Pokémon such as the starters Squirtle and Bulbasaur, or Mankey (Yellow only), Butterfree or over-leveled Charmander to take advantage of his team’s low special stat.
Gym Leader Misty (Cascade Badge)
Misty is the Gym Leader of Cerulean City’s Pokémon Gym. She is the second Gym Leader you will battle and specializes in Water-type Pokémon. Defeat her and she’ll give you TM11 (BubbleBeam).

Gym Leader Lt. Surge (Thunder Badge)
Lt. Surge is the Gym Leader of Vermillion City’s Pokémon Gym. He is the third Gym Leader you will battle and specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. Defeat him and he’ll give you TM34 (Thunderbolt).

Gym Leader Erika (Rainbow Badge)
Erika is the Gym Leader of Celadon City’s Pokémon Gym. She is the fourth gym leader you will battle who specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. Defeat her and she’ll give you TM21 (Mega Drain).

Gym Leader Koga (Soul Badge)
Koga is the Gym Leader of Fuschia City’s Pokémon Gym. He is the fifth gym leader and specializes in Poison-type Pokémon. Defeat him and he’ll give you TM06 (Toxic).

Sabrina is the Gym Leader of Saffron City’s Pokémon Gym. She is the sixth Gym Leader you will face and specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon. Defeat her and she’ll give you TM46 (Psywave).

Blaine is the Gym Leader of Cinnabar Island’s Pokémon Gym. He is the seventh Gym Leader and specializes in Fire-type Pokémon. Defeat him and he’ll give you TM38 (Fire blast).

Giovanni is the Gym Leader of Viridian City’s Pokémon Gym. He is the eighth and final Gym Leader players will face and specializes in Ground-type Pokémon. Defeat him and he’ll give you TM27 (Fissure).
