During your climb up the Z-A Royale ranks, you’ll be paired with trainers in promotion matches that will determine whether you can proceed to the next rank. You can find the trainers’ teams and recommended strategies below to help you during your playthrough.
Rank Z: Zach

Zach’s Pokémon team

Slowpoke
Level: 8
Type: Water/Psychic
- Water Gun
- Growl
- Tackle
- Confusion

Pidgey
Level: 9
Type: Normal/Flying
- Tackle
- Growl
- Gust

Pikachu
Level: 9
Type: Electric
- Quick Attack
- Growl
- Thunder Wave
- Thunder Shock
Strategy for beating Zach
Since two of his Pokémon, Slowpoke and Pidgey, have a weakness to Electric-type attacks, it’s recommended that you bring a Mareep that can be caught in Wild Zone 1. Pikachu is weak to Ground-type attacks, which means Buneary, also found in Wild Zone 1, can be a great asset when trying to beat it.
Rank Y: Yvon

Yvon’s Pokémon team

Spritzee
Level: 15
Type: Fairy
- Fairy Wind
- Disarming Voice
- Fake Tears

Swirlix
Level: 15
Type: Fairy
- Fairy Wind
- Fake Tears
- Charm
- Tackle

Vivillon
Level: 16
Type: Bug/Flying
- Draining Kiss
- Infestation
- Gust
- Light Screen
Strategy for beating Yvon
Fairy Pokémon are weak to Poison-type attacks, so having a Beedrill or Spinarak can be helpful when taking on Yvon’s first two Pokémon. Vivillon has several weaknesses and Fletchling or its evolutions can be very helpful with their Flying and Fire-type attacks. Light Screen will reduce the damage of any special attacks against Vivillon while it is active.
Rank X: Xavi

Rank W: Rintaro

Rank ???: Vinnie
