Mega Stone Location Guide – Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A sees the grand return of Mega Evolutions, including brand-new Mega Pokémon! Introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Mega Evolution is a battle mechanic that allows certain Pokémon to transform in battle. This “Mega Form” usually grants a 100 stat increase to the Pokémon’s overall base stat total (BST for short) spread across its six stats.

To perform Mega Evolution, you’ll need a Key Stone and the Mega Stone that corresponds to the specific Pokémon. While you’re given a Key Stone as you progress through the game, obtaining Mega Stones will require more effort.

Mega Stone acquisition methods

Buy Mega Stones from the Stone Emporium

Returning from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, players can go to the Stone Emporium located in Lumiose City to purchase Mega Stones for a variety of Mega Evolutions introduced in previous Pokémon games. The Mega Stones can be bought for between 50,000 and 100,000 Poké Dollars.

Trade Mega Shards at Quasartico, Inc.

As previewed in the lead-up to Legend: Z-A‘s release, players can go to Quasartico, Inc. to obtain Mega Stones. Throughout the story, you’ll be given quests to complete that will grant you Mega Shards and you can also earn them by breaking crystals found all over Lumiose City. Redeem these shards for a variety of items, including Mega Stones.

Rogue Mega Pokémon

As you progress through the story, you’ll be faced with Pokémon that have Mega Evolved in the wild and need to be defeated as part of missions. Upon completing these battles, you’ll be rewarded with that Pokémon’s Mega Stone.
