The life sim Pokémon Pokopia has an official release date and price! It will go on sale for the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5 and is already available for pre-order for $69.99. Players will take on the role of a Ditto transformed into a human who can shape the world around them using skills learned from other Pokémon.
The trailer above is from Pokopia‘s reveal but fans will only have to wait until Thursday to get another look at the game as a new trailer has been announced.
A controversial physical release
Fans have not been happy to discover that the physical editions of Pokémon Pokopia will not contain the game itself and instead be Game-Key Cards. Unlike traditional Switch 2 cartridges, Game-Key Cards are a digital license to download and play a game while the cart is inserted in the console. This allows them to be loaned to others or resold but carries the same risk as digitally purchased games — Nintendo’s online game catalogue may go offline at a certain point and no longer support downloading a game you bought.
An early purchase Mystery Gift and pre-order bonuses
Fans will have until January 31, 2027, to redeem a Ditto rug Mystery Gift that can be used to decorate your in-game room.
In Japan, two pre-order bonuses have been revealed. Fans who purchase the game through the Pokémon Center can get a Ditto figure and purchases made through Amazon will receive an in-game decorative plant item.
