More events for October are coming to Pokémon GO! Mega Rayquaza will be getting its own Raid Day and there will be a special in-game celebrations for the release of the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 title Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Mega Rayquaza Raid Day details
Players can take part in Mega Rayquaza Raid Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During the event, the following bonuses will be active:
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Rayquaza from Mega Raids.
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Friday, October 17, at 5:00 p.m. to Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
- Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of six).
- Timed Research that rewards a Meteorite.
Requirements to Mega Evolve Rayquaza
Rayquaza requires more than Mega Energy to Mega Evolve. It must know the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent which can be learned by using a Meteorite.
Meteorites can be obtained through research during special events, such as October’s Mega Rayquaza Raid Day, as well as by defeating Mega Rayquaza, although it is a rare.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration event details
To celebrate the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a special event will be held in Pokémon GO from Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 20, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. local time! A special Timed Research will be available for players which will reward an encounter with either Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile!
During the event, you can learn featured attacks for the evolutions of Chikorita, Tepig and Totodile:
- Evolve Bayleef during the event to get a Meganium that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
- Evolve Croconaw during the event to get a Feraligatr that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.
- Evolve Pignite during the event to get an Emboar that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn.
While the event is active, Meganium, Feraligatr and Emboar can also learn the featured attacks through the use of normal Charged TMs.
Starting with the event, there will also be avatar items inspired by the Legends: Z-A protagonists available for free.
