Three new events have been announced for Pokémon GO in early August, including one which will introduce the Generation VIII Pokémon Snom and Frosmoth into the game! Read about the Sweet Swarm, Cozy Companion and Munchlax Hatch Day events in our post below.
Stop and smell the flowers with the Sweet Swarm event
From Sunday, August 3, at 12:00 a.m. until Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time, the Sweet Swarm event will be taking place in GO. Players will be able to complete Timed Research and event-themed Field Research tasks to encounter Combee and Swirlix, which will have an increased chance of being Shiny!
The following bonuses will be in effect during the event:
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for one hour.
- Lure Modules are more likely to attract event-themed Pokémon.
The free Timed Research will also be split between Swirlix and Combee during the event:
Swirlix Timed Research: August 3 at 12:00 a.m. – August 4 at 11:59 p.m. local time
- Encounters with the featured Pokémon: Swirlix
- 3,000 Stardust
- 25 Pinap Berries
Combee Timed Research: August 5 at 12:00 a.m. – August 6 at 11:59 p.m. local time
- Encounters with the featured Pokémon: Combee
- 500 XP
- 3,000 Stardust
- One Lure Module

Get snuggly with Snom in the Cozy Companions event
From Wednesday, August 6, at 10:00 a.m. until Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time, the Cozy Companions event will be taking place. It will introduce Snom into Pokémon GO, which will be able to be evolved into Frosmoth.
During the event, the following bonuses will be active:
- 2× XP from hatching Eggs
- One extra Special Trade per day
- For the first time in Pokémon GO, you might even encounter Shiny Tandemaus—if you’re lucky
- Tandemaus will have an increased chance to be encountered from Party Play
- Friendship levels will increase faster than normal through opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles
Wild Pokémon spawns
During the event, the following Pokémon will be spawning more frequently in the wild:
- Abra*
- Geodude*
- Karrablast*
- Shelmet*
- Phantump*
- Alolan Geodude* (Rare)
*An asterisk denotes Pokémon that may be Shiny when encountered
Pokémon hatching from Eggs
During the event, 7 km Eggs have a chance to hatch the following Pokémon:
- Galarian Farfetch’d*
- Pancham*
- Snom
- Charcadet*

How to evolve Snom into Frosmoth in Pokémon GO
Snom requires a bit of work to evolve into Frosmoth in GO — you’ll need 400 candies, have earned 10 friendship hearts with it as your buddy and it must be night. Then you’ll be able to evolve it into Frosmoth.
Hunt for Shinies during Munchlax Hatch Day
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, the Munchlax Hatch Day event will be taking place in GO. You’ll be able to hatch Munchlax much more frequently from 2 km Eggs and there’s an increased chance to hatch one that is Shiny.
The following bonuses will be active during the event:
- 2× Candy from hatching Eggs
- Increased chance of receiving 2 km Eggs from spinning PokéStops
There will also be free Timed Research and optional paid Timed Research available.
